I know it has been mentioned before but as we are coming up to 2 years since the release of the updated 377 and East-coast way is crying out for it. Even if it was a separate timetable like the 313 it would make such a big difference. It is the only thing that holds me back from driving what is a lovely portion of the route between Lewes and Eastbourne.
Barely touched ECW in two years because of this. It's a shame because I quite like the route. I think DTG is simply too lazy to do it at this point. What gets me is I swear they said they'd get round to it during the first preview stream for BML. This is why I never trust Matt or anyone else from DTG when they say they're gonna do something. They'd make great politicians.
Yea a real shame. Great route but desperately needs some love. Is one of those financial reasons. Why put resources in? What is the return in investment? I do agree with you. I'm just thinking business wise. Everything is done with that in mind. Why was Boston DLC redone? Only reason was because of the Acela. I can't say this is always been the case. The Bakerloo, Hamburg, and now NYT timetable were redone without any new DLC.
I agree with you all here. It cant be that much work surely even if it just substituted in as an option so your 377 could be the updated one would be good . But there really is no reason for them not to do it in full.
ECW is one of my favourite routes still. I think it deserves another pass and maybe add some seasonal RHTT services. Do DTG have any team Blue rights to add GBRf 66s or even a 73 haha
I suspect it's probably turned into something that's more work than thought. That's usually why things get left longer than planned. Presumably, upgrading the ECW to the BML standard would involve replacing the ECW version entirely, which probably caused an unexpected, complex and unexplainable issue. One of the things that bugs me so much with this game is having multiple copies of the same train, like the multiple identical 66/101/08s from each route that came with one.
If that's the case then they should just tell us. That's what they did when asked why the 700 wasn't coming to BML. It still stings but at least there's an explanation. DTG have stayed completely quiet on this. And I find it hard to believe it would be more difficult than the transition to the improved 375 for SEHS. As you say though, "unexplainable" things can happen. It's either an error like that, where it turned out to be more work than planned, in which case they should at least tell us they tried, or they haven't attempted it to begin with.
I agree with this also i hate the fact the stretch between Lewes and Eastbourne (which in my opinion is the most interesting to drive) has so few services, as the London - Eastbourne trips aren't included.. one of my big wishes for this route is to add those so the part between Lewes and Eastbourne feels a lot more alive.. i would definitely go back to this route more often if that happened!
Totally in agreement. It it cant be done fair enough but I find it hard to believe. But either way an answer would be nice. And it sets president for other examples of this in the future which is no good thing
No, you have no idea who is making the decisions. Just because someone could overrule a subordinate's decisions does not mean that none of the decisions are being made by the subordinate.
The Class 313 could also do with an update, it still has the wheelslip issue from release, whereby the acceleration will go into a momentary spasm if using notch 4 below ~30 mph, or using step 1 braking above ~60 mph mostly on downhill gradients. I don't think DTG quite got the camshaft physics sorted out on simugraph for that one. ECW is a lovely route but somewhat overshadowed now by the standards of BML and SEHS. Hopefully one day we could see a ECW-BML merge with new lighting and Thameslink layers, but that's likely to remain as wishful thinking for now.
The 313 always felt like an underwhelming add on, especially after the obscene amount of time it was on the roadmap for. Cathcart coming out first didn't help either. I think ECW has a certain charm BML and SEHS lack. Every now and then I get the urge to play it again, but I just cannot get back into it with the 377 sounding like a vacuum cleaner
I hear you on that. I know on the BML they got the sounds from AP but I noticed that they are missing the noise when the brakes release. Is a very loud quick hissing sound. They have it on the TSC AP version
Since the loss of the preservation crew and their great updates to old routes, im sad to see that alot of older routes have been forgotten about again. Shame I really like the work the pres crew did.
Much agreed with all the feedback regarding ECW, it's one of my favourite routes but has sadly aged quite significantly compared with BML and SEHS. The route definitely needs a major update, and while an extension to Hastings/Ore would seem too unlikely, maybe ECW would be better than London Commuter to have the Wivelsfield branch. Absolutely, would be the ultimate wish. Completely agree! It's frustrating to think that quality routes like ECW after more than 3.5 years still has very basic scenario planner options, while timetable mode is still completely missing all the Victoria-Eastbourne/Ore services - it's baffling beyond belief.
The 313 DLC was always a bit LOVE in many more ways. It had the wrong door sounds (they had two sounds they could have chosen for the 313, there was no reason for them not to have any), carpet in the corridor connections and the incorrect seats at coach ends.
Yep it does have a charm but as you said with the 377 sounding like that it is hard to drive. DTG JD DTG Matt. Any chance you can take a look at this ?
I don't get people asking for the new lighting to be retrofitted to the older routes. I rather playing older routes because of the new lighting personally. An updated time table along with the BML 377vwoukd be perfect to me.
Itsya165 has made soundmods for the ecw electrostar, really enjoying all his sound packs. Downloaded and installed in 5 mins.
Mods existing is no excuse for the developers not improving their game. And it doesn't help us console players in the slightest.
Its definetly no excuse, but a good preparation for having no annoyance. Knowin what devs should fix wont give an actual patch. The list just gets longer. For an easy understandment: i prefere to not wait for decisions coming from a suit floor and rather take a shortcut to enhance my experience with the product. This specific little point was on top at priority 1 when i was about deciding what platform to go with tsw3.
