I presume he is using "beta tester" in the metaphorical sense to mean someone who buys the game on launch.
I don't think they'll announce it in a roadmap. I expect a dedicated article and possibily stream either shortly before or after the roadmap. They'll want to get as much attention for the new thing (be it TSW4 or a different summer release), and thus probably won't shove it in as part of a roadmap.
I would hope so. The next Roadmap is, what, three weeks away and apart from the JT route there is literally nothing known about coming releases, from DTG themselves. I’m sure there has never been a time when nothing has at least been teased or a preliminary announcement made. So come on DTG, something to whet our appetites at least, even if the meat and veg is still under wraps.
July 29th.... my guess.... they might hint something. Officially won't be announced until 10th-12th August, but I could be wrong. Just educated guesses. Whenever they decide to announce it though it won't change what they are working on. ;-)
The only consolation is, I now have so much content in TSW3, there’s enough to keep me going for months or even years and that’s without jumping ship to TSC, Run 8, Snowrunner, Fallout 4 or even Stray for a bit.
Fallout 4? I have put so, so many hours in that game and mod it to death. Haven't played it for a while, do you use the collections?
The last time I played I used a collection that had 400 mods then my favourites I put on over the top, lol
You and me both. Just hope the promised next-gen update actually materialises this year as announced. I want to get back into it but the 30fps cap on Playstation is atrocious.
The way things are going 30 fps will become the new normal for gen 9 going forward, as the latest games are starting to release for gen 9/pc only. Developers are finding the consoles are struggling to maintain a stable 60 fps only 3 years into their tenure. Examples are FF16, whose 60hz Frame Rate Mode runs at a meagre 1080p upscaled to 1440p, and soon Starfield, which will be capped at 30 hz but with a higher resolution.
Still nothing from DTG to even announce a special announcement or interesting news coming in the next roadmap. They are going to have to say something soon as I just leeched £25 out of my Steam funds to buy Stray (only a year late I know), which was being earmarked towards the JT route and the big summer whatever-it-is...
Yes, I'm having a hard time keeping my wallet zipped. So many temptations and nothing trainwise to buy. Couple of weeks 'til the next Roadmap. At this rate, there won't be much to talk about.
Agree. Alan Thompson has a couple sales going on, I thought by now I would’ve had NYT to fall back on but that is looking like a November time frame. Not sure how much more I can stay around waiting
WellI must admit Stray is quite cool, though was getting a bit fraught at having to retry the part of the second level where the weird one eye things jump on your back.
The DTG stuff is probably being trimmed, see Dresden Riesa for the reasons. Ever since that had to be cut back and then improved upon release information is super sparse. It could be the next roadmap is simply about the JT route and the DB electric so September will be the trumpet blowing time.
Fascinating. When DTG brings out a few DLCs, everyone screams "don't do that, fix the old stuff". When DTG has a bíg summer breaks, bringing out some great patches (see LFR, NID and SEHS), people want the next DLC to be announced.
LFR is still absolutely not anywhere near finished state, NID is developed and fixed by somebody who has nothing to do with DTG and we don't get anything new developed/announced.
Point is we don’t know what they up to, a little information would be nice to keep the interest alive and the Steam Wallet funds frozen in anticipation of something special. Or maybe there really aren’t any new routes or trains in the pipeline.
I’d rather DTG take it’s time before announcing anything substantial, hopefully whatever DLC they drop is well polished on release. Also gives me a chance to play other DLC I’ve been waiting to try, recently got HRR and the BR 101 and it’s been great so far.
At the end of the day we know that they are working on >insert random name of this years game here< but we currently have no information in what it is. I understand some of you want to know what it is. Personally I'm kinda ok with not knowing at the moment. Secretly I'm waiting for JD to leak it in the next road map. But I can wait. Will probably jump aboard the hype train when it gets leaked.... error sorry announced at somepoint. Gives me time to play some of the dlc try to do some liveries and use scenario creator. Hentis
Well, not Asset wise. Asset migration to UE5 is actually easy. Using Nanite for example is just a checkbox. However, you are right in regard to the code from the trains and routes. The code has to be redone for the UE5 migration. I am not sure, if we will ever see the older DLCs in UE5. One more thing: They could migrate the foliage in the game to UE5 as it is, but, as far as I know, to use trees and bushes and grass with Nanite they have to be redone, too.
Good opportunity to re-do GWE and extend it to Didcot Parkway and Oxford!!!!! Although very unlikely.
I've gone back to "2" - those were happier (and cheaper) times. No issues so far; RailDriver is returned to pretty much normal function, GPU is running cooler; engine.ini tweaks work well on LOD and shadow. Missing out on the New but not missing the Drama.
Either TSW4 or a Rush Hour style route pack. Nothing is officially confirmed, but the silence about new releases on the roadmap is the same as before the RH and TSW3 announcements.
yes and no. No on the PS5 From about February this year. Everything up to February this year DLC wise was paid for. When I became an Ambassador then I get a key for releases. Yes on the Series X and PC. I am also an unpaid carer doing 24/7 care for a measly £168.00 per month from the government topped up with universal credit. That total doesn't even meet the national minimum wage. Which I have to live on as well as buy selective DLC as and when. Hentis
It is easy to have an opinion on DLC when you do not pay for it was my point. Are you trying to justify yourself for being a carer? I am disabled SCA Type 14, my wife does not work either as she is a carer for my son. I have to pay for all my software (not complaining either) as well. Do I win that one? Do I get a prize?
Just to clarify, although I think you and others have realised what I meant: don’t PAY to be a beta tester! Sorry I wasn’t clearer in my earlier post
I’m still going with my original 3 picked routes for the summer. Difference is Leipzig-Riesa Dresden would not be an extension but a completely new route. It will use assets from previous Dresden . “1. Leipzig-Riesa-Dresden- This would be an extension of the current Dresden route which would get the TSW3 makeover. possible DLC with the German loco (Vectron) on the roadmap. updated timetable with lots of layers. 2. MIdland main line London-Bedford- introduce 700/1, layers with the 700/0,HST,66, 395, and many others as part of rail tours as a layers 3. NEC New York- Stamford- introduce M8 with many layers from LIRR,NYJ, M3A, M7A, and freight layers.” NYT new timetable would release 3 weeks after these routes are release.
An alternative to Leipzig-Dresden could be Duisburg-Koln, it’s another key rail corridor along the Rhein linking Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Leverkusen and Koln together. 64 Km long it allows 40 minute runs for ICE and IC services plus RE 1,2,3,6,11 and 19 travel along the route with intermittent stops at Düsseldorf HBF and Düsseldorf Flughafen. Furthermore Koln Messe would be included for this route. The S-bahn wouldn’t be bad either with S1,11 and 68 overlapping each other to provide variety to the commuter lines.
Not much DTG can do with the current licenses that have when it comes to passenger routes. Freight routes that’s a different story
The licenses dtg have is njt, mbta, mta, amtrak which are mostly east coast. There are some other amtrak routes elsewhere but there's reasons why it's not been done yet. It's also extremely likely to be a US route this summer or later down the line since Brandon who did the Boston signaling is involved in a summer contract with dtg. Unless dtg managed to get a brand new license somewhere else. Caltrain is another but that's only 1 route. Freight is everywhere on the other hand.
A reminder that DTG does NOT have to make a modern US passenger route, if they want to put the work in they could always do vintage, which opens up more locations, operators, and different equipment.
I guess if you take what Matt said a couple of days ago and see what he’s looking to do and you can come up with your own conclusion.
