After the release of the Glossop line I think TSW could the Woodhead route as well, it would be a good contrast to see how the route has changed on both sides of the pennines and could possibly be one of the more popular routes for TSW. Route is about 41 miles between Manchester & Sheffield and has many unique stations and scenery. One interesting feature on the route is the fact that the route uses 1500v DC OHLE as opposed to 25kv AC. There are also lots of opportunities for freight as well as passenger services due to the number of yards and stations. There’s even opportunities to add to the line, for example between Groton and Fairfield stations existed the delta junction that led to the Fallowfield loop line through south Manchester and the lines just beyond Guide bridge (towards Manchester) to Ashton and Oldham. Rolling stock: Depending on the era the rolling stock could either be steam or electric strains but the Class 76, 77 and 506 will do fine.
Would be an awesome route, but please in an era with the full line in operation. Never liked the TSC add-on in the BR Blue era with half of the stations closed down.
Absolutely brilliant suggestion mate, this is what Glossop should have been in the first place and I would have certainly bought it then. Personally I would prefer the BR blue era because that is how I remember the route and what in my mind, along with the electrification, would make it such a special, quirky route due to the run down but still very much working infrastructure.
Please tell me you're joking. There is only one BR blue route in game and it was released years ago. Also most of the route doesn't exist anymore.
With all due respect we have NTP and the Heavy Freight pack and TVL has some Blue too the class 31 too so how about an BR Green dlc instead
Peak Forest should have BR green. As long as you aren't saying we should have more modern routes rather than have more BR diesel routes I am sure a truce can be made.
Route needs to be Pre-Br blue that way we get a GT3 turbine loco here's Matt playing it over Woodhead line Pre Br blue era. Cons Class 506 lacks a Speedo check TSC forums on Woodhead
Northern Trans-Pennine, Tees Valley, West Cornwall are BR Blue, and the new Just Trains route is rumoured to be BR blue too. Not that I mind, I quite like these older trains. BR Green would be nice, all we have are a handful of preserved locos on the West Somerset Railway. Not sure if Spirit of Steam counts as BR Green. The Jubilee is green I guess. :P
If brought to TSW, this route needs to be recreated when it was at its very peak (some point in the 1950s or 1960s). Rolling stock has to include the Class 76, 77 and 506 types. This absolutely has to also include all branches and depots etc to provide us with the complete 1500v DC system.
agreed. People have been asking for the the Woodhead Line but no one as been asking for the Glossop Line.
Actually TVL and WCL are in the sectorisation era and not BR Blue routes, though with WCL's meesed up layers you would think so. Anyhow we are all on the same side because my initial comment was more based on my presumption that Airbus fan wanted more modern routes. If it has a BR logo slapped on the side it'll do the job for me!
This would be amazing, but I hope they make the full route and don’t cut it back anywhere, or fail to include any yards etc... Any era with the electric stock would be cool.
They probably wouldn't cut it back. Only building part of the woodhead route would be like if dovetail chose to build birmingham cross city line while leaving out soho depot. It would feel incomplete. Image if that happened... wait a minute...
umm we haven't had BR Blue for a while and although I can't really say I like it BR Blue has been severely neglected as all that have released are from the original TSW game
That means leaving out the Tinsley Hump Yard for this route since the 1.5kv DC wires on Woodhead line do end there
