Hi all, Is there a way to increase the font size for the shift-z FPS display in the game ? i find the font to be kind of way to small Thanks !
Probably not. Since you use an nVidia card though, you can opt to display its built-in frame counter. You can find it in the nVidia driver's control panel. It's big and green and very Commodore 64 looking, but its accurate.
Hi airbus, never was able to get the Steam one show up:-( Below a screenshot of my settings. The counter did not show, or do I need to press a buttion for it ?
Thank for the help E. At first was unable to find it (was using the NVIDIA configuration screen). But below video taught me how to set it, but the whol Alt-Z screen is kind of BIG. But hey, that what i wanted BUT, when pressing Alt-Z it takes me out of the game :-( So I can not use it that way. What am i doing wrong ?
You have to enable the Steam overlay for the Steam FPS counter to show up on screen. 'Enable the Steam overlay while in-game'
Are you playing the DX12 version by any chance? A few 3rd party overlays won't work at all with the DX12 version like Steam and RWE2 for example. If you are then the only cure is for you to play the DX9 version I'm afraid.
Yes Reef. 64bit DX12, not willing to change that in case it means software changes. Just got a new laptop and want to keep things as they are. I do plan to try the 64bit version (what DX is that?) since that is offered in the start-up menu. Just to see what the differences, if any, are.
The 64 bit version is the standard version. The DX12 version is just an experimental version which judging by the feedback is giving worse performance for a lot of people. As Reef said, that will be the reason you can’t get the steam overlay. It doesn’t work in the DX12 version.
DX9 - I believe. The DX12 version isn’t running native DX12 it’s running through some sort of translation layer from DX9 to DX12. As has been mentioned a lot of times on the forum. The DX12 is just experimental. I personally lose about one third of my frame rate using it. The 64 bit version is the standard supported version.
Witht he help of Tiger I told the naughty Nvidia GPU that it should be used for Railworks64 , not just the experimental DX12 version, so I could run TSC2023 in 64 Bit standard mode. And in 64 Bit Standard I could see the Steam FPS counter as well as the Nvidia FPS counter ! On top of that my FPS incread about 300 percent (going from 64Bit DX12 to 64 Bit Standars) during a test in a busy switch yard. !!!!!! This also enabled me to change in-game graphic settings from HIGH to HIGHEST !!!!
I can’t get Steam overlay to be enabled in TSW4 or Train Sim Classic , don’t know why , anyone have any suggestions, please .
Ask in the TSW Forum - https://forums.dovetailgames.com/forums/tsw-general-discussion.190/ This is for TS Classic
And if he does not know about the TSW Forum he will ask here instead of there when he has a TSW Question
