ECML please, lets get another fast UK train as well as the 395, the superlative Azuma in that standout LNER livery. Then the 700/1 can come out to play here as well along with the 387 and freight. A proper route like Kings X to Peterborough would mean a pre-order from me.
so if it's the ECML what type of service pattern are we looking at? They would need to include Letchworth garden city to play the Cambridge line also to include the sidings there Thameslink 700/0 and 700/1 (possibly) 2 trains an hour Cambridge-Bedford terminating at Finsbury park 2 trains an hour Peterborough- Horsham-Bedford terminating at Finsbury park 1 train an hour King's Cross to Peterborough 10 services total a day King's Cross to Lentchworth Great Northern 387(possibly) 2 trains an hour King's Cross- Ely/King's Lynn (Cambridge line) they would have to iclude Letchworth garden city to be able to play these services 2 trains an hour Morgate to Welwyn garden 2 trains an hour Morgate to Stevenage would only be playable to Alexandra palace( Herford branch) 6 services total a day King's Cross- Peterborough LNER 158 services round trip from King's Cross (91's currently not in the game, 800 not in the game) Lumo 10 services round trip from King's Cross (803 currently not in the game) Grand Central 12 services round trip from King's Cross (class 180 currently not in the game) Passenger services TL-210 ECML GN-246 LNER-158 total services to king cross terminal: about 280 services total playable services-614
I'm just surprised as you can see Thameslink doesn't have as many services on ECML compare to the MML. with that in mind Same with Great Northern as most of their services are to moorgate. I'm hoping we get services through the core and maybe to east Croydon. But that might be asking for a lot. Or maybe Thameslink might not be the main attraction but LNER
The ECML is not meant to be centered around Thameslink. If they wanted to do that they would do the core. Yes it gives more room for the 700 to spread its legs but would be far from taking the spotlight of a potential ECML.
45 miles is tiny. I really, really hope it goes to Peterborough. Doing the Express services with just Kings Cross to Stevenage would suck.
yea just a speculation so I wouldn't loose any sleep over it. The only thing is going through the core down to london bridge to east croydon would probably be the busiest section out any routes including BML with all the AI traffic that would be around london bridge
They’d probably make the Cambridge trains call at hitchin or they could add a branch to Cambridge, very unlikely though, I have a feeling the ATS route is the ECML, as that is Alan’s home territory
JD did say ATS had finished laying track on their first route months ago, ATS have been developing for months now
I’m not that familiar with the current LNER (or their publicly owned successor) service pattern, but I’m assuming Stevenage is the only station a few services call at between the Cross and Peterborough (maybe the odd stop at Huntingdon). So yes that would be a bit of a waste assuming that Hitchin was the extent of the route and we actually got a Class 91/Mk4 or Knotweed for the route.
Stevenage has quite a number of long-distance services calling, about 60 daily in either direction (LNER and Lumo) compared to Peterborough's 90-odd (LNER and Grand Central). However, a 20 minute run between KGX and SVG in a Class 91, 180, 80x or HST is hardly worth the effort. 50 minutes to PBO gives players a chance to stretch the legs of the high speed units.
London to Pboro can range from a 45 minute to an hour 30 on 125mph services and an hour 30 to two hours stopping
Trying to figure out if it is the ECML what would the use for the great northern moorgate services since the 387's do the Cambridge,Ely, Kings's lynn services? Or would they just use all 387 in game. this is assuming the 717 won't be available at launch
Could pull an AP and create an AI only 717 as a stopgap? Though given the backlash AP received, probably best for DTG to either create a playable 717 at ECML's launch, or put ghost AI into the timetable and patch in the 717s at a later date.
i doubt they wouldn’t include the 717, as generally speaking they have a fair amount of it modelled already with the coaches from the 700, just seating layouts and a new cab (and formation of coaches) would need to be done to create a 717, and i doubt they wouldn’t considering they make up a fair amount of the traffic on the southern part of the ecml below stevenage.
The other benefit of setting it in 2019 is the full timetable was in operation then. Anything later will be a Covid timetable and will feel quiet. For me, an 800 is just yet another modern EMU and a route with that and the 700 wouldn’t be a route I’d buy. However, if they just push it back to 2019 and include the HST, I’d buy it. I recognise some people like the modern EMUs, but 2019 gives the best of both worlds and gives everyone what they want.
i feel like as standard it will most likely be 700,717,387 and 80x, then things like the 91 will come as dlc in the near future. There’s endless possibilities for dlc for an ecml south, like deltics, hertford loop and so on.
Another thing to note is that setting the timetable in 2019 would also allow (if licensing permitted) the 313 to be included as this was still in use on the GN route up until March of that year until replaced by the 717.
This 30 minute video at welham green station. not sure the time frame. Here's the breakdown on trains Thameslink 30 trains Great Northern 11 717 trains. 1 387 LNER 22 trains, mostly 800's lumo 4 Grand central 4
You can check realtimetrains to see how busy the line is and when trains usually pass the station. These are all the trains that pass Welham Green in just 1 day. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/se...23-07-26/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt
Ahem, don't forget my beloved 365s! The 313s were in such a poor state when they were withdrawn that I wouldn't want that replicated in-game. The other concern is that there was a complete mix of liveries and units in service on the ECML in 2019 that it would be challenging to do justice to. That being said, I'll gladly accept any recent version of the ECML.
Ngl i’d rather it was just set in the current day with a current timetable as it’s pretty much back to pre-covid levels of traffic. That way any other stock that may have ran on the line could be possible dlc, and we can still run things like rail tours with classic traction prototypically
Or just set it in 2019 with everything. Introduction of the 800s, frequent 91 services and HSTs. Busier and far more interesting, especially with the slightly older stock
That's the best idea in my opinion. Time of change, lots of traction. New 800 and 91s to play with. Why not push the boat out on a big release, for a change.
Thank you for sending the realtimetrains link . I had totally had forgotten about it , is a good way to check how busy a line is. Having said that i checked it has 670 trains a day passing through which is a just below the 676 passing through Kentish town station on the MML but basically almost even . Though the ECML will have probably 50 services from lumo and grand central which most likely won't be in game.
You can see how many services are on lumo and grand central by selecting TOC and choosing one of them.
The best station to look at for services is finsbury park, as everything that could be in game will go through there
off topic: So looking at amounts of trains go that go through station in London area and I found some surprise numbers. 1. Clapham Junction 2,587 trains 2. London Bridge 1,872 trains 3. London Liverpool 1,713 trains 4. Stratford 1,452 trains 5. London Waterloo 1,403 trains 6. London Paddington 1,401 trains 7. London Victoria 1,314 trains 8. St Pancras 1,259 trains 9.Wembley central 1,093 trains 10.Eling Broadway 1,067 trains 11. Finbury park 936 trains 12.London Euston 596 trains 13.London King's cross 469 trains
If I can get 60fps with Victoria, WCML south would not have any issues on my Xbox. Lord have mercy if any GEML DLC drops
Here's an update list of amount of trains in a 24 hour day. Includes stations outside of London: Clapham junction 2,587 London Bridge 1,872 London Liverpool 1,713 Stratford 1,452 London Waterloo 1,403 London Paddington 1,401 Leeds 1,337 London Victoria 1,314 St Pancras 1,259 Manchester Piccadilly 1,212 Glasgow central 1,193 Reading 1,174 New Cross SEML 1,168 Wembley Central 1,093 Cardiff Central 1,093 Eling Broadway 1,067 East Croydon 1,065 Birmingham new st 1,006 Edingburg 968 Finsbury Park 936 Liverpool Lime st 711 London Charing Cross 702 Crewe 685 Glasgow Queen st 684 Guildford 680 kentish town 676 London blackfriars 675 welham green 670 Woking 638 Doncaster 626 Brighton 623 London Euston 596 Sheffield 594 Bristol Temple Meads 556 Derby 551 Preston 548 Nottingham 520 Manchester Vctoria 515 Ashford International 476 London King's Cross 469 London Fenchurch st 450 London Cannon street 400 Newcastle 393 Exerter St Davis 393 Swindon 324 Ipswich 324 Norwich 305
I know that the ECML is the clear front runner since the Flying Scotsman was reveal to be listed on one of the Epic depots. Wanted to look at what we can we expect and if any branches would be included. So from Hitchin to Peterborough we have 43 miles with 5 stations in between . Speed limit on the slow line is 75. There're 40 TL services each way. LNER has 75 services each way with 25 of them don't stop in Peterborough. So we are looking around 350 trains in total for 24 hour period. these don't include the other operators as we don't expect them to be included. Not sure how much more can be added in between but maybe we can have lots of freight in between to make that are busier
An ECML route between Peterborough and Kings X / St Pancras would have to cover the full 76 odd miles not just half of the section.
