Hello all, TrainGeek08 back again with another suggestion, this time it is an *extension of Skyhook Games' Midland Mainline: Leicester-Derby/Nottingham route between Derby and Matlock (Derwent Valley Line) featuring another Sprinter subclass *I know that developers tend not to do extensions for TSW routes but Skyhook did mention in the MML preview stream that they 'future-proofed' the route ready for future extensions or loco DLCs to be added to the route so it is possible Price: GBP: 11.99 EUR: 13.99 USD: 15.99 Route Map: Stock included in extension: The British Rail Class 156 'Super Sprinter' in East Midlands Trains livery Training (In Training Center): Class 156 Introduction Scenarios: Derwent Valley: (Difficulty - 2) It is a foggy day in Derbyshire, drive this EMT 156 from Matlock to Derby whilst trying to get through all of this foggy weather (features dynamic weather = fog -> cloud) Doubling the Capacity: (Difficulty - 2) An extra service put on by EMT for a music festival needs extra coaches, drive this spare 156 ECS from Eastcroft Depot into Nottingham, couple up to the awaiting 158 and run as far as Derby where the music festival is occurring Sunrise in a Sprinter: (Difficulty - 1) Drive this early morning EMT service from Leicester to Matlock whilst watching the sun rise in the cab (this should warrant some great screenshots for the Screenshot Contest over on the Creation Centre) Timetable: Incorporated into timetable already provided on the route layering onto the services already operated by the 158 and/or adds Matlock-exclusive services to the 156 Stations and 'Other Features' coming up on Page 2...
Page 2: New Stations: (so excluding Derby as this is one of the end points on MML) Duffield: Duffield railway station serves the village of Duffield in Derbyshire, England. The station is located on the Midland Main Line from Derby to Leeds, 133 miles 8 chains (214.2 km) north of London St Pancras. It is also a junction with the former branch line to Wirksworth, which is now operated as the Ecclesbourne Valley heritage railway. The unmanned station is served by East Midlands Railway, who operate local services from Derby to Matlock via the Derwent Valley Line. Belper: Belper railway station serves the town of Belper in Derbyshire, England. The station is located on the Midland Main Line from London St Pancras to Leeds via Derby, a little under 8 miles (13 km) north of Derby. Ambergate: (now on the same section of line already in Peak Forest) Ambergate railway station is a railway station owned by Network Rail and managed by East Midlands Railway. It serves the village of Ambergate in Derbyshire, England. The station is located on the Derwent Valley Line from Derby to Matlock, which diverges from the Midland Main Line just south of the station at Ambergate Junction. Whatstandwell: Whatstandwell railway station is a railway station owned by Network Rail and managed by East Midlands Railway. It serves the villages of Whatstandwell and Crich Carr in Derbyshire, England. The station is located on the Derwent Valley Line from Derby to Matlock. There is a ticketing machine on the single platform; a full range of tickets for travel for any destination in the country can be also purchased from the guard on the train at no extra cost. Cromford: (the station Oasis once used for one of their song covers) Cromford railway station is a Grade II listed railway station owned by Network Rail and managed by East Midlands Railway. It is located in the village of Cromford in Derbyshire, England. The station is on the Derwent Valley Line 15+1⁄2 miles (24.9 km) north of Derby towards Matlock. Matlock Bath: Matlock Bath railway station is a Grade II listed railway station owned by Network Rail and managed by East Midlands Railway. It is located in the village of Matlock Bath in Derbyshire, England. The station is unmanned by rail staff and is located on the Derwent Valley Line, 16.25 miles (26.15 km) north of Derby towards Matlock. Matlock: Matlock railway station is owned by Network Rail and managed by East Midlands Railway; it serves the Derbyshire Dales town of Matlock, Derbyshire, England. The station is the terminus of both the Derwent Valley Line from Derby and Peak Rail who operate heritage services to Rowsley South. Both lines are formed from portions of the Midland Railway's former main line to Manchester Central. Through running is technically possible but is not done in normal service. Other features that should be included in the extension: GSMR functionality on the Class 156 similar to the Class 158 already on the route AP sounds on the Class 156 if possible Keeping up the fantastic scenery as shown on the MML route already Maybe layers for Peak Rail? Hope you enjoyed this one, put your thoughts below as usual, I've been TrainGeek08 as usual, enjoy the rest of your day, and goodbye
The Derwent Valley Line would be better coming as a branch of Sheffield to Derby if we ever were to see that route.
Fair enough, but it is still an option if Skyhook did want to extend MML but Sheffield to Derby would be great
Totally agree, this would be a great option for an extension or as AirbourneAlex says above, maybe as part of a Sheffield to Derby route
Sheffield to Derby would offer much more IMO, with the option to merge it with Derby-Nottingham-Leicester should that ever become a thing. Include a Class 156 and Class 222 with layers/substitution for the Class 158 and HST would make it a fantastic route
Yeah, it would be a great option for another Midlands route with the above two train classes as base trains with the two EMT trains from MML layering in Maybe Skyhook make this one or Just Trains?
I think JT are busy with *insert UK route here* at the minute and Skyhook are also busy with the US Livery and Gameplay Pack and with MML fixes but is an option for either developer after they are finished with their current endeavours
I like the sound of this suggestion, would love to see a MML extension. But to be honest I do agree with Alex about this branch connecting to Sheffield, would love to see Sheffield connecting with the MML. But that's my opinion and I would not mind it going to Matlock instead Just wanting to say this is well about a MML DLC/extension, I feel like a class 222 would be a great addition in general.
Excellent idea overall and this must allow Derwent Valley Line 1963 trains to layer here. If I were you set this in 1963 so that the Derwent Valley Line peak rail segment gets Green Class 45 47 20 31 33 Class 101 diesel trains to run there.
Thanks, glad you like the suggestion, I do like Alex's idea with connecting it with a route from Sheffield to Derby but either way it could work as an extension to MML or as part of a Sheffield to Derby route
Thanks, you could set it in the 1950s to extend Peak Forest out to Derby but I'd prefer having MML extended based on what Skyhook said during the MML preview stream
By the way, Peak Forest is 1963 not 1950s. WCML Liverpool to Crewe is 1958. For MML it needs to go south to Bedford from Leicester
Absolutely awesome idea day 1 purchase fir me this route is very iconic and gorgeous abd full of history
Definitely would though given talk of tsw4 wouldn’t be surprised if going forward routes are put into tsw4
Definitely the route is awesome I once travelled it en route to the Matlock cable cars that’s experience I’ll never forget
I know, it can be doable but it does seem weird that Skyhook didn't include the route in the first place
especially considering the bulk of the 158 services start or end at Matlock it would really add some meat and lots of screenshot opportunity to current the Derby - Nottingham services
Late to the party, but a brilliant suggestion as usual. My exact thoughs have alreay been said above so I will quote them below:
Spot on there but this route is already in game set in 1963 called peak rail. Therefore MML should get 1963 treatment
Indeed, but to be fair they should have done it to Derby in the first place, it would've made more sense to end it there instead of Ambergate
You are correct that way the problem ending it at ambergate is prevented. I wonder what was the reason for not ending it to Derby in the first place? The could have simply made Derwent Valley Line 1963 as steam and diesel route then have Diesel AI at Derby
Yeah, that would've been great but like you say, there must be a reason for ending Peak Forest at Ambergate
Actually it's the modern day heritage railway called Peak Rail which runs between Matlock and Rowsley (nearly) and yes I know that part of this line is already in game from Ambergate to Matlock. I think that this line should come with a MML extension to Sheffield if anything and any era change to MML should be to the 70s, though I like it how it is at the minute apart from the short runs. MML should absolutely not have 1963 'treatment'. Anyway as said PFR should have gone all the way to Derby to start with.
idk I'd quite like to see it in an era when this livery was about but then again it would be inconsistent and make more sense to set the route in a time period we already have a nearby route on so EMT is the most logical choice really
Yes it would be inconsistent. This route should be essentially exactly as suggested by TrainGeek along with the line to Sheffield for good measure!
If were to do MML 1970s which period should it be in Pre 1976 no Paxman Valenta HST or Post 1976 Paxman Valenta HST Class 50 Class 56 BREL or Communist Romania versions. Thanks for the Information.
It would be a great livery but as you say, it is inconsistent for the era of a) the suggestion and b) nearby routes (MML & PFR)
This is hypothetical as the era of MML should not be changed, but if I had the choice MML would have been set in 1982 or 83 when the Peaks were still common on expresses but the introduction of HSTs to the MML had just begun. Also with the 56s the differences are marginal but more were BREL built and if memory serves me right the Romanian ones were rebuilt by BREL due to the shoddy workmanship or something along those lines anyway.
