Is the JT Valley line that is releasing in steam is that set on a different era so it's not the same at the one that was released for MML?
I mentions it comes 15 scenarios.

I thought the original was for TSC and the new one is for TSW?

AFAIK it is the same route - JT are unlikely to make a separate version for Steam but it won't join up with the other MML Routes.

Might be the same route but different locos.
Below is what comes and required locos for the JT version

Yes, because JT cannot have third party content requirements (i.e. AP* or the ATS 185) on their Steam versions scenarios, it must only be content purchasable through Steam.

    * The exception being any AP product available on Steam like the Steam version of Wherry Lines for example.

Don't get the Steam version, as if you do, you cannot expand it with the others from the JT MML range of routes. It will forever be a stand alone route if you get it from Steam. Even if you have no intention of expanding it now, you may want to later.

As pookey mentions above if you get it on steam then the routes wont merge into the "network" that you can do if you buy them direct from JT and a really good network it is as well when you combine them all together

These stand alone parts of a network do make sense if you don't want the network.

I bought the standalone version of Cornish Mainlines as I have no interest in the bigger Great Western network it can be part of.

I would think within the next few weeks and after the current Sale has finished.

DTG only mention coming DLC when they are not far off release

Honestly, I'd get the route extension from Just Trains directly - provided you have the base route first. It's a great network (looking forward to the Buxton release too).

Not to mention that it covers from Manchester in the west, to Leicester in the south, and Lincoln in the east. You could have the MML suite of routes and nothing else, and it would be a long time before you got bored. It's massive.

I'm not a mac user, but surely crossover just allows you to run Windows? If so, you would just install it as if you were using a Windows machine?

Thank you Jaime. So what are the options if you already have the JT version?

Why would you want to buy the route if you already own the JT version?

I don't think I mention I want to buy the route. I mentioned options if you already own the JT version meaning any options to get the scenarios, stock and units that come with the steam version

It will include the line from Dore and Totley up to Sheffield. No point ending a route without a terminus.

that's what I was thinking but on the just trains website, it doesn't list Sheffield as a station on the list of stations on the standalone route

I think that's because the assets needed for the Sheffield - Dore and Totley section of the line already existed in the Sheffield - Derby DLC so they reused them.

Note though that it only includes one scenario for 101 and 158 each, 6 other scenarios are using the ridiculous class 166 gw dmu?

The ridiculous GWR Class 166 is included as Everyone owns it so you can run the scenarios at no cost.
It would be pointless to release the route and they say you have to buy x, y and z before you could run the scenarios.
Easy to swap the GW 166 with something you own.

Would scenarios made for the JT version work on the steam one?

I know that this route has been on Steam since the 14th of July but today I'm in a position to buy it. I don't buy anything off JTs site anymore due to having to be forced to buy in US $ and wait for them to come on Steam. Although I realise that JT is a small company I think that it is about time that they upgraded their sites to accommodate all currency that includes Just Flight as I'm into Flight Simulators too. I know that some sites that I go to have a drop-down menu and you can select the country where you live and it automatically converts to your currency. Anyway the price for Hope Valley for me is $56.99 NZ on JT $44.99 US if you don't own MML which comes to $77.66 NZ and $61.56 NZ if you own MML.

Can you not pay on Just Trains website using PayPal? They do accept that method.
When I buy things from other countries using PayPal it pays them in their currency but converts that directly to GBP.

As an example I purchased a loco from RSSLO which cost €10.49 EUR and I used PayPal
PayPal converted that to GBP which is what was debited from my Bank Card.
    Funding sources used (total)
    CO-OPERATIVE BANK £9.61 GBP
    PayPal's conversion rate: 1 GBP = 1.09215 EUR
    Converted from: £9.61 GBP
    Converted to: €10.49 EUR
This rate includes a currency conversion fee.
E-money issued in GBP and then converted to EUR.

Yes, I can use PayPal which I do but only in US $. I know that they also sell in UK pounds and Euros which for me is cheaper than using US $ as the conversion rate is better.

It’s the same for me in Switzerland. I can only pay in USD at a ridiculous exchange rate. It’s worth it for me to cycle to the German border find a cafe with free Wi-Fi. Then it will let me pay in Euros which is a better exchange rate.

As the Currency that you pay is set by Just Trains you should be able to pay in GBP.
PayPal should then convert that to AUD

Sadly that isn’t the case. If you are in a country whose currency they don’t support then the only option USD. Only option is to wait until you travel to another country or use a VPN. As I said, I wait until I go to Germany and pay in Euros. Not so easy from Australia though.

Another option is to buy Just Trains software from Alan Thomson’s website where it will always charge in UK pounds.

If you use PayPal, You will pay in AUD plus a small conversion fee. JT then receives the payment in USD. I have done it multiple times for various addons from JT/ATS/AP. You used to have to do the same with Steam until AUD was added as a currency in 2014. So for example, If you were to buy the MML:Hope Valley Line from JT's Website, Listed at $37.99USD for the extension, In Australia i would have to pay $56.21AUD (Direct conversion based on 1USD = 1.48AUD at time of writing) Plus a small conversion fee that PayPal takes (4.5% of the total ($2.53AUD)) resulting in a final cost in AUD of $58.74. Same principle applies if the website is in GPB or Euro, just change the conversion rate.

EDIT: I should also add that this principle also applies to any currency conversion that happens, Whether you travel to the country or purchase online. So going to Europe and paying in Euros will result in the same cost in AUD as though you purchased online.

Yes, I live in New Zealand and am forced to buy in US $ either directly through JT or by Paypal which I use then have a conversion fee back to NZ $. Just Trains.jpg

that is strange out of interest is that a better rate for you over GBP by any chance i wonder if it defaults to the better cost effective currency.

Yes but there is no way to escape the conversion fee, at least unless some sort of global currency is created, If JT Started accepting other currencies, the fee would end up included in the product price as they themselves would be the ones copping the fee rather than the end user.
