When the Xmas special came out there was a bit of a fanfare that work had been done to create working elevators. This would definitely make stations come more to life and would be invaluable if we ever get disabled passengers. Since a lot of German stations have identical elevators, there wouldn't require lots of work for different types. With passengers using them, possibly we could as well when on foot. I have noticed some working escalators (though not usable) which was talked about at the same time. Has this idea just been ditched? Thanks
Yea we recently got working elevators, just to completly get rid off flange sounds on the cl.385. (Those are part of each trains main characteristics) The fancy stuff is nice after having a solid simulated train experience incl. Proper sounds. To make it short: we are not even close to a point where devs should spend time in entire useless gimicks (non train related at all), but cant deliver the basics of a train experience. This is another perfect example of setting the priorities at the wrong end.
Indeed. At the moment we can't even seem to get passengers to board the trains, on just about every route. Let's sort that first. Moving trains don't have reverb passing under bridges and through tunnels, that MSTS had 22 years ago. Steam physics are still a mess that needs sorting out along with the firing algorithms. We need fully dynamic routing, platform alterations and random events. Gimmicks should come after all that and much more is sorted.
Could also be different devs doing different things. Environmental artists aren't the same people working on trains. Certainly not the same people doing the audio.
Was just asking as it was some time ago they said it was nearly done. If it is done it is done, no extra time taking from other projects.
Couldn't say it better myself. Gimmicks are at the bottom of the priorities list, get everything with the simulation right and only then make the gimmicks.
I think it is safe to say we already have disabled passengers, almost all of them. Getting stuck in doors, falling from the sky, standing on tracks, approaching the platform when I am about to depart...
Real life passengers often like doing that one a lot as well. Seems DTG's passenger system isn't so flawed after all!
