There’s not much in terms of new content and DTG updates to discuss unless it’s speculation on what’s on the horizon.

This poll, which is pointless anyway, belongs in off topic. Moderator?

It depends, but I usually listen to the news on the radio or streams about economy or politics from YT.

When driving in TSW I most often listen to music, I have a radio app on my phone what tunes to FM radios.

    such radio stations include;

    Rewind 2000’s
    Heart London
    Heart Dance
    Heart 80’s
    Heart 90’s
    Capital

When not using that I search for music on YouTube with it or use my own playlist app.

    Spotify - My personalized playlist.
My favorite song hits differently at 90 mph :D

PS - Why is everyone so hostile to polls ? Has something bad happened on the forum due to them ? Seems harmless to me...

No. The whole point of "playing trains" is to listen to the audio sound of the traction. If I want to listen to music I'll put on the radio or a CD downstairs.

Being realistic, most railway operators prohibit any sort of distraction such as music in the cab so it is not exactly realistic to have music belting out over the train sounds!

Totally agree with you, ( IRL ) distractions in the cab are a big no-no !

But isn't that the point of gaming... your world... your rules... play the way you want...

Just give it a try, maybe you'll enjoy it as much as I do :)

Most of the time, no. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve tried, but a few too many times I’ve missed a SIFA because I didn’t pick up the sound over the music.

    Yes and no.

If its the first time I'm doing a route I won't be listening to music I'll be enjoying the sounds.

If im achievement hunting service a route however I tend to listen to music - usually metal, rock or video game OSTS - Majority of that is Sabaton, Metallica, Queen and The undertale/deltarune soundtracks.

Again I only really listen to music if I'm achievement grinding - for TSC I never listen to music even though that's not the point of the thread.

No, I try and set up the spare room (or what younger folk may call a 'gaming room') to be like it is in real life, so no distractions on the desk, no phones or laptops out, and most certainly no music or audio other than the game's sounds. Luckily the room is at the front of the house so their is next to no noise pollution from outside.

It’s quite interesting listening to the london transport news segment on Heart London when operating the bakerloo line, usually hear something like “delays on the Hammersmith and City lines”

    gets quite immersive with that.

Podcasts about current political, scientific or socio-cultural issues. I like to stay informed about what's going on and can do this nicely while driving a train (like when driving a car IRL).

`Don't Stop Me Now` by Queen all the way and all the time. When I see a red signal, I push the pedal to the metal.

Usually I have a podcast on in the background. That or I have the latest Cardinals game on.

This year it's been mostly podcasts as there's not much joy to be gained from Cards lately :)

Interesting, here in Sweden, tablets and phones are a part of the jobs and are always out on the desk. Also, the cabs are equipped with FM radios, some even have Bluetooth support

Oh we have screens in what I drive in the real world, but I was more talking about my domestic (or work phone) pinging with a text message or having this forum on the laptop, which would most certainly not be allowed whilst bombing along at 125mph! Are the radios fitted in the cab by the manufacturer or have the company fitted them? If the first option are they allowed to be used or not whilst actually driving?

I wouldn't listen to music whilst driving, I like to enjoy the sounds of the train, I might have the radio on in the background, but generally I just have the game sounds. When I was/am making scenarios for TSC then some background music or chat is definately necessary!

Nope as I was told it's forbidden to use a radio or telephone in the cockpit whilst doing a service so I always turn my phone off whilst playing this game ;)

Sometimes, not often. Tonight I'm driving SFJ and listening to Hotel California, San Francisco bay, Californication. Yesterday I was driving GWE in BR blue and listened to Smalltown Boy and Supermode - Tell me why :) It has to be route related.
Oh, I forgot. Sometimes I'm listening to radio music from My Summer Car also when driving TSW.

Fair enough. Yeah that's not something I would do, although I know that there are people who do just that and are open about it...
The radios were fitted 3 decades or so after the loco was built, so yes, you are allowed to use them, if you are lucky enough to get one fitted with one that is, otherwise you could blast from your phone, that's fine too.

Late reply but I *wish* I could have one of those.

In my kind of house one of those is beyond impossible.

You have family and other residents constantly walking past, constant noise, the noise of other trains speeding by 75 MPH aswell as stopping and constant station announcements from where I am.

I'm fine with the mild distractions but I often do myself turn of all my electronics other then what im playing with UNLESS I need my phone out for something genuinely urgent.

I have got lucky as the children have long gone so I have got a few spare rooms. I am also lucky that I have it set up in the front of my house as my house backs onto the ECML so passing trains are more of a brief, minor rumble. It was a nightmare when I first started as it was before Azumaisation and the HSTs really did make the house shake, especially when we had the VP185 power cars. I would highly recommend having a dedicated room as it really does help with immersion.

Edit: I also don't have 'town noise' issues as I live in a small village so again lucky in that regard.

Unfortunatly there is no dedicated room in my house.

Half the house is next to the SWML (several times in the past couple of days have I been jumpscared by the odd desiro or sprinter). And the over half is backed onto a mainstreat in a large town. So yeah.... not really got one of those unfortunatly. I can live though and if I always really want to I can always get headphones.

Ah that's just pure bad luck, I mean the desiros aren't even particularly nice sounding either. I tried headphones but I just find them strange whilst driving a train!

I always make sure I have my cuppa. Snack wise I don't really snack anyway so it's a no there.
