That reminds me the PO E700/SNCF 2D2 5100 nicknamed “pregnant woman” built between 1934-1939

    However you describe fine.
Although I was really tempted to use the monetary description to make a joke there.

Definitely ugly. But at least unlike some on here it was for a practical purpose.

Yeah but there’s no many choice because of the narrow gauge but to be fair there’s definitely better field of view for the driver than the first mock-up of the NTfL
I don’t encourage to do it and I’m totally against it but smoke some crack and you’ll end up with that kind of creativity.
Or it was the first design of the OceanGate submersible

Christ on a bike, these things are hideous. I said just as much when i first saw the design. Much like the god awful and impractical boris bus *shudders*

On some intercity lines, old stock will be replaced as iconic and comfortable Corail coaches are really aging ( built between the 70s and 80s ) are being replaced with that hideous CAF Oxygène ( Oxygen ). Of course the locomotives being built between the 80s and 90s will be scrapped as we love wasting money.

Speaking of the 1990s locomotives that run with Corail they should be rebuilt because of those locos were the 1996-2003 batch. What do you think of this the Japanese version of the ICM Icoca card required JR West 271 series.
Dutch version when combined. Should also be the same for a combined 271 series formation
    [IMG]
For the Japanese 271 series that can also run in SNCF territory if SNCF wanted an EMU with that design for dual voltage runs 25kv & 1.5kv DC routes. Version 2 is a DB ÖBB 15kv 16.7hz and 25kv AC 1.5kv DC version

I genuinely have no idea what you’re talking about or maybe you’re explaining me your utopia imaginary train world that consists of many trains from around the world in one place. There’s no point on refurbishing locomotives from the 80s and nowadays companies tends to buy EMUs/DMUs instead of loco hauled trains, so maybe Romania will buy them like they did with many of our old rolling stock but there’s more chance they’ll end up as Coca Cola cans. You spoke about the Japanese 271 Series that could run in France, I see no point as we don’t have same track gauge, and it doesn’t run under 25KV AC but 1.5Kv DC. Lastly you talked about a version 2 DB ÖBB bla-bla-bla, what are you talking about ? I’m really lost here and it’s not because I have issue understanding English not at all.

What I meant is that there was a version of the JR West 271 series made for 1.435m European gauge ordered by SNCF if needed. Version 2 of a JR 271 Series-derived train is meant for Alsace Lorraine and Geneva areas which is why I brought those voltages up.
For Another Ugly train how about a CFL 3600 series the Crocodile Locomotive
    [IMG]
In SNCF service this was the BB12000

Yeah but once again the JR 271 series is not needed it’s just nonsense for a train that needs lot money to be able to run in France. The two locomotives you showed are in my opinion not that ugly but the main goal was to have a central cab in the middle of the locomotive hence why it looks weird and in the 50s, they didn’t really care for a locomotive that was primarily used for freight services. By the way it wasn’t a crocodile but nicknamed “Iron” or “Ham-cutter” because of the traction wheel that looked like a ham slicer machine. This is what a crocodile/krokodil CFF be 6/8 is:

Anyway it’s 5 AM I need to sleep before going to work.

Aww man, I liked that design, and thought it looked amazing!
And I thought the same about the Wright SRM...
Ok what? The front is hideous, but the sides remind me of the Glasgow Subway...

They contacted Siemens like 'Yo, you got any cast off designs we can use? We got a contract but we don't wanna spend a lot of money. Cheers lad.'

Closest if we consider the cab being placed in the middle despite the CFF one having two articulated chassis but the SNCF not, the crocodile you’ll find here is this:
    IMG_5952.gif
    And I’m gonna stop here.
Thanks to remind me how bizarre is Glasgow one, the huge coupler makes it weirder. The current rolling stock looks basic and nice.

The cab controls you have to lift the seat up you Geoff Marshall has a review on what the interior looks like

One word to describe them they are super small. In the video above you see Geoff having to bend down.

They'll have full cabs to start with, plan is once all in service and platform edge gates are fitted that they'll go Driverless with the under seat controls..

Glasgow is super tight and narrow gauge so very little you can really do design wise in the constraints - it's the 3rd oldest metro in the world so is going to be limited by the infrastructure

Personally the front is off with side design, it’s like they designed a double decker front for a classic train.

The mind boggles at many rolling stock decisions here since a certain event nearly 30 years ago.
