Ok, so at the time of me writing this, Dovetail Games has not yet announced whether or not TSW4 is a reality but hear me out.

    Dear DTG, Why TSW4?

Just why? I am sick to death at having to buy a new TSW game every 2 years when there is nothing wrong with the previous game. I was like this with the announcement of TSW3 but they had some pretty good reasons to create the 3rd TSW game but I believe that there is nothing else to add to the game. TSW is a train simulator and thus does not have a story board. It is simply a game where you drive a train from point A to point B whether that be in Timetable mode, a Scenario or even in the Scenario Creator. It would make sense for TSW to have sequels if it had a continuing story like in a film series but it doesn't..

Yes, I know, we have games such as Forza Horizon that does't techniacally have a story but do have sequels however, it does make sense for those games to have their sequels.

I don't really see the point into TSW4, when the original TSW, TSW2 & TSW3 all look the same with no why to tell them apart from looking at the HUD.

I believe I have typed enough of my point here before I start to sound like a broken record, so there..

I would say that I won't end up buying the game but TBH, I actually will end up buying TSW4.. I really think that TSW 3 has more protential as a game and would benefit with more big updates and DLCs

People are going to latch on to the bit about GTA in droves unless you change it to a more appropriate title. :)

They should just keep TSW 3 because there is so many updates on routes what isn't finished / needs a update.

You actually don’t have to buy it. You can play the older versions that you own. You aren’t obligated to buy the new versions.

The way I see it is that no matter what it is called this summer we will, most likely, get a bundle of routes for a decent price. What the title is I don't care and any core improvements/ updates are a bonus that comes with the routes. We can't be getting our knickers in a twist about ifs and buts because no one knows and all we can do is speculate until the 22nd.

I voted yes BUT that's only if it brings genuine improvements to the core game.

    I voted no, like with my other posts I’m sticking to;

    1. Too soon (should at least be 3 years apart between iterations not 1 now)

    2. I don’t want TSW3 just abandoned content after 1 year.

    3. Things that I want to see happen are mostly to do with fixes, what shouldn’t need me to purchase another iteration to fix them, it likewise still doesn’t solve the problem as TSW 3 would still remain with that issue and no chance of resolution.

    4. apart from those fixes and maybe the odd new thing like the step between TSW 2 & 3 the only other thing it does is make be re download all dlcs if I purchase or if I don’t my TSW 3 sees little to no future update and I’m locked out of new dlc…

Improvements? What improvements did we see when TSW3 came out? MML broken Edinburgh - Glasgow class 385 sounds like a washing machine and the missing overhead wires glitch still isn't fix the only thing what will get improved is the number from 3-4.
And the audio is the worst part of some trains now I can say for 1 the art team on some routes is brill but the audio team not so good and one more thing to clear up is that I just don't like when DTG or what ever company works on a route and missed out on other lines on that route and just cuts it SHORT like Darlington To salt burn they missed out on the whole bishop Auckland line.

New weather, New Lighting, New Skybox/volumetric clouds. Which made the game look a LOT better. I use mostly the new TSW3 routes as the lighting is so much better than the older routes.

Instead of making a new game why don't they do what a lot of games do is update this game to a new season / new version and then for payed routes they could release them.

Unfortunately for us players in my view but rather undeniably they make more sales rather than continuing dlc release. A new game created more want, than dlc number 205 if you get what I mean. You can see similar on the forum, if it was a preview stream people may mention what they hope to see but as it’s a potential iteration preview stream it’s all the buzz of what could it be. It’s a higher interest.

I think it’s the steam sales I’ve seen, it’s a higher spike at points of iteration release compared to dlc which seems to ware down until another iteration gets released.

One thing what annoys me is that the ambassador's get everything for free when need to pay our wages and some routes are like about 5-3 years old and we still have to pay 24.99 plus we have had only one free route the LGV route they should lower the prices on older routes or make them free.

They get it as they volunteer work for Dovetail generally in return for Rewards like being sponsored to show off the route. Anyone can technically do it, not exactly easiest thing to achieve but it’s possible.

as for you needing to buy the product, that’s your choice and part of our capitalist society’s, simply because of stuff along those lines, if nobody bought DTG wouldn’t make.

they’re not that old really, maybe they should reduce like games do but I’ve not seen any dlc do that much. LGV was only free for sometime to market for the takeover by a French company. They don’t just make the routes to sell them when they’re released, many buy routes first time even years later.

they’re is sales even though considerably less on console.

Now if you want to a ambassador I think you might need some followers on YouTube or twitch and even then it's hard to get on the program.

In a simple method would be to get a good build up and have it focus on the kind of stuff TSW is (Simulators, Trains, Transport)

Part of the problem this company faces is that they paywall updates. For example, if you want the improved NY-Trenton timetable that is forthcoming you are probably going to have to buy the updated version, it doesn't matter that you paid full price on day one. Dovetail show very little loyalty because of past purchases and are only looking at new ways to milk money out of existing players. Look at the people (in most cases) patiently waiting for updates to TSW2 that were announced and planned before TSW3 was even announced. Prove me wrong, Dovetail.

Dovetail are becoming the next EA if you want what is essentially just an update of the previous years game, you will have to pay for a complete new game, EA do it every year with games like FIFA just changing the number on the end.

The difference of course being that nothing is changing with older content. With FIFA at least you get an updated roster. With TSW they will never keep up with changes on any route and never have really tried. It's basically a subscription fee at this point, they just charge it in one lump sum without auto renewal and that subscription does not guarantee much of anything improving in the content you had to buy on top of the cost of entry, especially older content.

If TSW4 launches in September does that mean that TSW3 addons become legacy and won't receive further improvements, just small bug fixes? If they have something else new to sell you through it, they may touch it, though.

    I voted "I don't care"

Honestly I definitely won't be buying it on release day unless the uk bundle has a really good route.

I do think TSW3 should stay as it needs more fixes but If it moves to TSW4 and its paid it'd just be a train version of fifa basically but even more paid dlc. I'm personally just hoping the route choices for TSW4 are good.

If it’s a good route bundle or a new feature I want, then yes. If not, I’ll wait for a route I want or a sale.

Until we actual know what’s coming I don’t know if I want it or not.

What I can say is that if it’s the usual 3 routes format and I like 2 of them, then I’m probably going to get it as it will likely be cheaper than buying the routes separately. If they offer single country packs for a similar price to a route that gives me the option of only getting what I want, which is what I did with TSW3.

At the moment I’m in no hurry whatsoever, I’ve got plenty still to play in TSW3.

There is no public info what features TSW4 will have. So asking why is a bit too soon. What if it's a free upgrade, would people still vote no? And what if this is needed to (finaly) go for next gen only?

Yes if it is truly an update, with UE5 photo-realistic graphics. Passengers that actually look lifelike, guards on platforms, actual intercom sounds at stations announcing the next train. Passengers running due to being late. Or just the fact every previous DLC has been updated with the new lighting/weather etc. Realistically none of this will be since it's only been a year since TSW3, if TSW4 does come out it will be just a cash-milking platform with barely any major upgrades. Hope I can be proved wrong though.

TSW4 is not a mandatory upgrade. TSW4 is just a bundle of routes that comes with new features.

The poll actually says: Do you want DTG to make anymore routes? Looking at the result of the poll DTG can pack up shop because the game is finished as it is. Everyone is satisfied with the game as it is. No more improvements needed. >sarcasm<

    EDIT: added the sarcasm tag

I voted yes but really it’s a pointless poll. Whatever is coming out in September whether TSW4, a route bundle with upgrades it’s a done deal. No amount of polls or foot stamping is going to change that. A large percentage of us will buy it anyway to keep up with the tech and if one or more of the new routes appeal - which if as rumours would have us believe the UK route is part of the ECML will be a proverbial hot cake.

I would be disappointed but not surprised if TSW4 came out this year as it has previously been a 2 yearly thing. But that’s what happens when big companies take over.

I wouldn’t be quite so disappointed if they repeat last year’s exercise of including the core game with the first couple of route DLCs at no extra cost. I benefited from this with the Birmingham route as I was previously playing on Game Pass. I already had SEHS and SOS so I benefitted from the upgrades and was not really interested in the American and German routes (don’t like freight and the German one was too boring IMHO).

I doubt anyone thinks it is perfect. There are plenty of people who whilst acknowledging it's faults get a lot of enjoyment out of it, that is a totally different thing. Insulting people you don't agree with is hardly a good way to put forward an argument.

Surely until we actually know what "TSW4" is and how it is to be implemented what is the point of this poll when we can't make an informed decision. All it seems to do is stoke up consternation and lead to comments like "I don't like being forced to buy a new game every year" which is considerably hyberbolic!

Well here's the thing, some people think critiquing TSW and DTG in general makes you the devil. Now of course, the critique should obviously be valid, but for some, it doesn't matter.

Call bull on that and raise you 10. GTA does have a story. A damn good story which I love to replay from time to time. Also the stories for each game are separate from the previous stories, although you may find characters from previous version of GTA appear in the current version.

I'm not even going to comment on the poll as at the end of the day its not down to you whether its named TSW 4 or TSW >Insert name here<.
Its up to you whether you buy it or not and that's it.

I don’t see what all the fuss is about. TSW4 is just a number. It’s only going to add improvements to the current build of the game. We still keep all our content from the previous games.

Now that precisely IS the problem, nobody would say anything if it was a proper new game. Paying 30 bucks for dynamic weather that doesn't work properly and a new UI isn't pleasant. I bought TSW3 as I knew new DLCs wouldn't make it to TSW2, and the DLC I wanted, an was waiting for (ET420) is probably not going to make it to TSW3 either. Never has "not keeping content from TSW2/3" been criticised here, RSN and MSB is by far my most played routes in TSW3, and I am happy they work in TSW3, but it adds little to no change compared to the same routes in TSW2, apart from that "dynamic" weather, which I'm sure didn't require a whole new game anyway.

BUT, "TSW4" doesn't necessarily have to follow the same pattern TSW3 did, if it is "TSW4" they are releasing.
