What would be nice is for DTG to actually upgrade the existing routes and allow access to the sidings that we can't use at the moment (e.g. TVL and Oakville). TVL could also be extended beyond Saltburn, to the cement works, making proper use of the cement trucks.
So, you infer that the forums is a space where the enjoyers of short routes come to hang out? No. The poll wasn't something like 'Do you like Train Sim World' In which case asking on the forums would give a totally different answer to, say, Steam. In this case, it's called taking a sample. Very different examples. There's no such thing as a "Short Route Driver" or a "Branch Driver", they're all TSW players. One (the bikes) is a totally different style, the other is a preference. And again, the entire point of a poll is to take a sample. It's not 100% accurate (never will be), but it's not invalid either.
Considering I work with using and creating datasets every single day at my job, in a scientific field, I think I'm good. Your dataset isn't scientific, it's flawed for what you're trying to make it show. Your dataset shows what a percentage of the forum wants, nothing more. (It's useful for that.) It's not capable of being used to infer wider opinions in the community due to the nature of the forum.
Just stopping back in to see what routes people would like extended..... All I can see is more poll talk. Anyone want swerve back to a route they would like to extend? Shall we set a poll up to see if we can stay on topic?
Out of ideas. Already mentioned Clinchfield and Cajon Pass. -Believe Sherman Hill was already mentioned. -Makes no sense from an operation standpoint to do Peninsula Corridor. -SPG doesn't have a close point to extend to. -Cant really extend Boston Providence. -NYC-Trenton cant extend due to potential SEPTA license issues. -LIRR needs a complete rebuild. -No knowledge on Harlem. -We dont talk about Oakville.
Extend SEHS, Folkestone or Dover, then it’s done, end to end(ish). I’d extend NTP through to York and modernise, it’s a great route but could be so much better. Glossop, makes sense to head down to Sheffield way but they won’t do that. All pie in the sky ideas though, I doubt it’ll happen.
Easy answer for me Nahverkehr Dresden not only because it's my favorite Route but also because the branch to the Airport is already half built. And why not extend the longest of all Routes kassel-Würzburg. You could extend the Route from Würzburg to Gemünden/Lohr(Main-Spessart Bahn).
Instead of extending, focus on hub-and-spoke services that increase traffic and variety at major stations. Example: rather than extend Munich-Augsburg, add services to Rosenheim to the east and Garmisch to the south, and some S-bahn lines. Maybe even some scenarios where you dispatch trains in and out of Munchen Hbf. Or even better, add the necessary links to combine the Ruhr lines into a single playground (e.g. Koln-Dusseldorf-Essen) Going back and forth along the same route gets old after a while.
Definitely like the idea of GWE and/or MML. Not tried the Scottish routes yet, but have the DLC’s, I’m saving them for a rainy day lol
The missing track 3, SD70M as a new loco, improve the quarry (it looks bad) AI BNSF trains in Cheyenne subbing from Cajon pass
Definitely agree with your post London Bridge and Cannon Street or if possible London Charing X to Dover Priory Via Folkstone West and Folkestone Central would be a definite buy for me
While I'm not typically a lover of long routes, I would absolutely love to see what it's like doing a fairly long Amtrak run. Providence-New Haven would be really interesting to have, just for the experience of what a realistic run could look like for an Amtrak driver (Is New Haven a popular crew change point? I'm not sure. It's 2 and a half hours from Boston, so surely). And then if we had that, it's inevitable that DTG will do New York-New Haven some day. And hopefully by that point, they'll have learned route mergers and we could have freaking Boston to Trenton! I can dream...
If that were to happen you have Northeast Corridor Trenton to Boston. By the way it's popular for College students because when you book 3 weeks in Advance you only pay $20-50 for a ticket. $28 Newark, NJ to Providence Brown University Station while $31 Newark, NJ to Baltimore and Boston South Station
