1 little question: Why is the Conrail heritage unit aka NS 8098 not in this pack? Licensing? Anything else? Edit: It's because of licensing, how sad! Atleast for the next HU pack we can get SD70ACe ones along with the normal livery one!
Hopefully the licensing is sorted out and we get the Conrail livery at a later point. I do remember DTM having trouble acquiring a license for the Conrail and Erie Lackawanna liveries in their SD45-2 pack; this was because they were trying to license the brands through Norfolk Southern vs. dealing with Conrail directly. Perhaps this is what happened here? Regardless, the included liveries look very well done and they certainly add a nice splash of variety to Horseshoe.
“This is a rare lineup of liveries, feel free to take some pictures” gave me a good chuckle considering Skyhook’s choice of weather for this particular scenario. An extreme downpour with fog or whatever does not make for good screenshots. Excellent job on the liveries though.
I was kind of hoping when you release DLC for DLC the original DLC would be updated with TSW3 lighting and weather etc. The box art for this pack says TSW3 which in reality is for a TSW2 DLC
Not seen the posts about the staff illness then? If they postponed the release then you lot would be moaning. Cant do right for doing wrong at the moment.
If someone decides to buy this pack, please share some close-up pictures of these liveries, how sharp the paintjob is etc... Even better if someone is making a close-up video on YouTube, please let us know... It'll be a massive favor
I'll be streaming from 1930 tonight if you want to see the liveries. https://www.youtube.com/@HentisRail/
British Ace is streaming the pack already, but I don't know how knowledgeable he is of USA stuff nor how critical he is.
What a waste. Just a bunch of liveries you could make yourself/get on cc. I was hoping for a midland Mainline train bundle but I guess not. This just seems like a disappointment to me.
Disappointed because they're not UK? Why begrudge North American fans a few repaints. As far as creating 9 liveries with CC, some of us are artistically challenged. I know I couldn't have done it. I've bought lots of reskins in TSC for that very reason. Besides, Skyhook have a pretty solid track record with livery creation.
for $21 australian its a big no for me just for 9 skins witch can be done in creators club yeah 6 scenarios dont care as i dont do scenarios so this pack is a no from me sorry ill wait for the new Train Sim Classic Norfolk Southern route
Running the same scenario, I experienced fair weather -- so the truth here is that dynamic weather is in play.
This is just another pointless cash grab. I'm pretty sure pc players can just get these liveries for free and there is also the creators club. Just another way to get some money before tsw4 gets announced
1. PC Players can't get it for free. 2. Sure, but the resolution on them won't match the DLC ones. Also, some heritage units could get taken down due to copyright.
Ever heard of modding? Also there is a diffence between could and would so I still stand by my view that it is a pointless cash grab considering their previous content is still riddled with problems
Must confess, I don't understand the negative response from some to this dlc. It isn't a freebee because someone at Skyhook has to make them. With all due respect, they are certainly better than the best efforts of player creators would be. These packs have been common practice in TSC for as long as anyone can remember and I don't recall any outcry from players. They're usually excellent value.
Well if I wanted a new livery for tsc, I could just get them off a third party site for free. I never bought a livery pack for tsc because of that. If you enjoy it, then that's fine, but I'm not alone in my opinion of the dlc Perhaps this is why they haven't released livery designer 2.0 or scenario planner 2.0, because that would make these reskins and packs more pointless than they already are
Except no one really has, the only ones available are those that were made via the livery designer, the regular way of painting them no one has done any heritage units yet. (Not to mention the UP ones are so broken one of the best TSW modders won't even fix those.) This isn't like Tsc, modding is much harder to do. (Not impossible, but not as easy to pick up)
Probably why dtg haven't released livery designer 2.0 because it would make packs like these even more pointless
Based on Hentis' stream, SHG did a really good job with these liveries (better than I or anyone could ever do in LD, it just doesn't have the tools). And a .pak mod livery has its own problem: it appears on every single loco in place of the default.
One other use for them is that the liveries are now "official DLC" so they are now usable in the screenshot contests.
But they maybe done in LD but most of them do not look as good as the actual loco as the loco packs do.
Have to say, I've been pretty critical of US freight content on TSW, but I gotta hand it to Skyhook Games. They've done a pretty good job on the paints. Not to mention doing the change to 8025 was a nice touch too. It puts DTG's Union pacific Heritage Pack to shame, whoever did that should look at this pack and honestly put the work in to patch those. However this pack isn't without its flaws. Issues -Obviously we would of liked both a route and loco update when this came out, the BNSF ES44C4 sounds and physics (aside from the c4 stuff) should of been applied to the loco..... -The Nickel Plate unit is a bit broken with all its headlights lights stuck on. -None of the number boards light up. -Some of the scenarios are a bit messed up from what I've heard on the TSC discord. (Alot of number board issues Ive heard) Other thoughts.... -With the nose window door variant added in this pack, it would of been nice if some regular NS versions of the ES44AC also came in this pack. They were from order #1979 and numbered #8024-#8090 But overall a solid livery pack.
Personally, I am pleased with the quality of the content presented. I would like a wider package of scenarios and a more complex plot. I recommend the purchase, but assuming that it is advisable to wait for the sale. I consider it wrong to be outraged about the lack of route improvements within the framework of this DLС. After all, a gameplay package has been released. No one has announced a route remaster yet. Although he demands it and I'm waiting for him. We all have already seen what a modified route might look like on the example of MML.
I don’t own the route so I won’t be picking up the dlc, I don’t mind/ quite enjoy the odd US freight run but not my total cup of tea so to speak. General pricing is quite high at £10, it’s only the odd pound of an entire loco addon.
CC livery editor is limited and trash to use and more professional community liveries that can be made as mods with texture files (more freedom/possibilities) are limited to PC only, so honestly, even if we get charged money for it, it's good that DTG makes these high quality liveries avaliable as a DLC for PC and consoles
I’m happy I bought the pack. Engines look beautiful … and yeah I didn’t get out the cab in the thunderstorm to take pictures either.
But it isn't "just liveries", TSW Nathan: there are also some interesting activities in the package. I'm really enjoying this add-on, but trying not to just barnstorm my way through.
So there were no Scenarios in the pack then? Although to be honest I wasn't a big fan of these scenarios. Just a gameplay pack nothing more nothing less. Hentis
