I understand that DTG developers have taken a hiatus from putting out content while they focus on whatever comes out on August 22nd.
But what happened to the forum moderators? Where did they go? Annual leave? All at the same time?

For one thing, I wish we had a separate forum for the speculations, maybe collocated with the suggestions forum, and renamed to Stuff That Ain't. And then all the posts about things that are not in the game can go there (and I can mark that as "read" and never open the thing).
And the Discussions forum could be about stuff currently in the game, and no longer littered with threads about UE5, TSW4, polls, EuroStar, etc.

Oops... I was about to put up a poll to ask who's with me? but I hate polls.

Whatever the administrators do at this moment will lead to more speculations. Give them a break, they will be glad the communications blackout will be over as well ;)

What’s wrong with a few speculative threads?
DTG are the architect of this anyway by remaining tight lipped about just about everything at the moment.
So long as threads and postings do not breach the CoC or forum etiquette then there is no real problem.

In fact I suspect the TSW team are having a good old belly laugh at some of the wilder surmising and maybe wincing a bit when someone gets too close to the truth.

I saw a post yesterday edited by moderator to remove bad language, so they are there, doing what they are meant to be doing.

A separate forum is a question to administrators, as moderators don't have tools to create one (or at least that's the case on any other forums). The moderators will be able to move appropriate threads to such forum once it exists.

There is not much to talk about otherwise.
There is no 1st party content announced, only 3rd party and we can only speculate on that. The only release we know about is the HSC livery pack releasing today(?).
There are barely any fixes despite "taking a break in the releases to fix stuff". Latest fix repaired 5 scenarios and a collectible. Patch before that happened almost a month ago.

For the next two weeks, all we can talk about is either speculation or complaints about the current state.

I mean, I just posted something on another thread and noticed it's in a queue for mod approval. Not seen that before.

We're still here, moderating and answering where we can add value and clarity to proceedings.

    Exactly this ^

Sometimes things to get put into auto-moderation queues - we'll try to review these as quickly as we see them.

I totally agree with the idea of hiving off this nonsense speculation.

Tedious, completely pointless and clogging up the forums so the stuff about the actual game gets lost in the noise.

As said there is little else to talk about at the moment and it certainly doesn't do any harm to DTG to have this speculation. I think it is quite interesting although some of it, clearly far fetched.

I certainly don't think it would be helpful for it to be shunted onto another separate forum.

I second that motion. These speculation threads proliferate like rabbits. Give them their own cage.

Though, they´re not completely pointless. They´ll provide a really good laughter when it is all revealed and the facts are on the table. Just wait for it.

What happens you think when they would add a subsection called rumours? People will say "aha, you see! they are still not denying it" and others wil say "it's just like the subsection title says, it's just rumours".

Until the 22nd the forum will be divided between the believers and non believers and from the 22nd it will be divided by the happy consumers and the unhappy consumers. But JD & co will be totally reenergised by then ;)

  13. On discord channels one often sees good structures in place with general chat, gameplay help, technical discussion and so on. Moderators of course tend to be much more active ensuring things go in the right areas alongside this, but self regulation, self moderation and the ability to just not respond is something that in my experience is the most effective tool of all. I guess that comes under forum culture, and if the answer was obvious everyone would be doing it

Look at it this way--when the mods are there to quash bad behavior, and you're not seeing them, that's a good thing.

Ah HA!!! So there IS something going on! ;)

Seriously though, I have no problem with speculation threads, but I do wish people would stop creating new threads on the same subject as existing threads. How many TSW4 threads do we really need? Some merging would be appreciated.

That is exactly what I meant!
Moderation does not just mean censure of bad language. Moderation should also mean merging threads with the same theme, moving threads to appropriate forums, make the forums cleaner and easier to read.

Okay but if UE5 is not part of TSW4 does that topic belong to a TSW 4 topic? What if it's not TSW4 that is being released to what topic should it be merged then? Every decision can lead to a reveal.

I don't disagree, but people read a lot into the smallest of things. Merging threads isn't a function we can currently do with these forums, as well, unfortunately. Whilst I can appreciate for some it might not be the best experience, for some it's an exciting time, and there are nuances to discussion that mean a 'megathread' probably isn't appropriate, as conversation gets lost along the way.

There cannot be a subsection called " rumours " for everyone's sanity.

Someone would start an entire thread about the correct spelling which is, of course, " rumors ".

Best leave things as they are or maybe start a section called " scuttlebutt ". :D:D

If you want something different to talk about - my Range Rover needs a new steering rack. The part alone costs £3000 before labour. Oh the joys of cheap motoring ! ! !

On another note - I am absolutely loving the VP185 HST since the enhancement pack came out and raised the driving camera position. Truly lovely experience. :)

I’ll take that over the joy of motoring we had last Friday. Some idiot rolled their Lotus on a roundabout ahead after clipping a car that pulled out in front of it. Came hurtling down our side of the carriageway and came to a stand less than a foot from the front of our car, where I stopped after slamming on the anchors. Got out and honestly expected to find the guy in bits but although trapped in the wreck still alive. Read later he escaped with minor injuries. Guess that’s what you call a close call, if we’d been two or three seconds earlier or I had failed to anticipate what was happening and slam my brakes on. The sting then came after giving my statement to the police, had to exit across the central reservation, grounding my new Yaris. Luckily no damage after getting it checked out at the body shop on Tuesday. Still a bit shaken by the experience, we all see accidents from time to time but first time I’ve witnessed something like that and almost become part of it, in over 40 years of driving.

Oh my word, sorry to hear that. Yes you did have a lucky escape. It can so so easily and quickly turn into something lethal being on the roads. Glad you’re ok etc etc

You’re right - cars can be repaired, ( if on the expensive side sometimes ) but at least no one was seriously hurt. I had a similar experience happen right before my eyes on the day I actually bought the Range Rover actually. Van wasn’t paying attention and swerved all over the three lanes, crashed into the barrier and flipped several times. How I missed it - absolutely insane. Again I thought there’d be serious injuries or fatalities but they just walked away unhurt. I guess that’s testimony to how well cars and vans are built now. I hope you get your car sorted ok!

It proves that it’s all relative. A couple of seconds earlier last week and TSW4 would have been the last thing on my mind, if I’d even had a mind left to think about it. At the end of the day it’s a computer game, nothing more nothing less not a matter of life and death.

People were moaning about ‘the TSW4 topic so why not. I changed the subject - you can’t have it both ways

I collected my Range Rover from the garage this morning for an unrelated issue, an oil cooler leak was fixed …for the first time ever for LESS than originally quoted. I was quoted £640 for the job but asked away with a tiny bill of £585! Probably one of the lowest bill’s I’ve ever had on that thing. Happy days. Now to get the steering rack sorted and it’ll be back to perfect health. Sublime vehicles !!!

Those where the times when you could have 10 of these (cars, not girls!) for the price you just paid for an oil leak fix. And you could repair them with a hammer and duct tape. (Again: the car, not the girl!) ;)

I particularly like it when threads stray far from their original topic. There’s one about potential teasers for the Dovetail Direct live stream on the 22nd that for a whole day mainly consisted of people talking about how UK diesel trains were hard to drive and too noisy. Then there was the Skyhook feedback thread that was about 75% people talking about Spectrum games from the 1980s. Pages of the stuff. The lack of hard moderation sends us down some strange alleys. This thread is one of the best examples and is jolly good fun.

Sounds like a very similar experience to mine, glad it turned out okay as well.

The strange thing is, at the time the adrenaline must have kicked in seeing if there was anything I and the other car drivers could do, while waiting for the emergency services to arrive. It was only later while replaying in my mind and thinking about what might have happened that it hits you and I don't think I slept a wink last Friday night.

As noted, the car was fine - that came as a huge relief as only just driven it new off the forecourt the previous week (yes Vern traded in the much loved Sportage for a hybrid Yaris), probably just as well as my brief experience dealing with my current insurer on thinking I might have to claim, was not exactly great (spend 20 minutes explaining to one call centre, then getting transferred to another party and having to start again).

It was actually quite nice to get on TSW for a soothing drive (along with a bit of Stray).

We do, I tend to go for quirky French cars or UK cars from the 70's and 80's.

I am going to look at one of these next weekend

    https://s1.cdn.autoevolution.com/images/gallery/RENAULT-14-2044_9.jpg

A Renault 14, I know of only three UK market ones remaining on the road. This is a French import. I imported one back in 2010 but sadly after two years the suspension had rotted away. The one I am going to see apparently seems to be solid underneath although a little tatty.

Glad you're OK, would have missed you on the forum. That's one of your 9 lives used up. Be careful. ;)

    Speaking of 9 lives.........

Stray's been on my wish list for a while and it's now on sale on Steam. Think I'll pick it up.

  46. Be careful out there folks. I've noticed a massive decline in driving standards here in the UK over the last 15 years or so. I've now got a dash cam front and rear with stickers on the rear of the car. Thats made quite a difference to the tailgaters and is always useful if you happen to witness something too. You can upload footage to the appropriate police force (its surprisingly easy to do this) and it can be used to prosecute so its a powerful tool.

    Stay safe

Nasty experience, but it shows how good safety is on modern cars - do that in an old Elan and there'd be no walking away from the accident. A few years ago we were travelling down a busy M6, behind a Range Rover towing a big caravan, when it started to fishtail. Instead of accelerating to pull it straight, the driver instinctively hit the brake, which ended up with the front of the Range Rover in the central reservation, and the 'van in matchwood on the hard shoulder. Fortunately, we were one of the first cars past the wreckage, but I imagine the queues soon became rather lengthy.

I think older cars could be pretty sturdy. I remember when I was about 16 or 17, walking home from practice, when this guy clipped a curb and flipped his car 360 about 3 or 4 times. It ended up on four wheels and looked in good shape. The driver calmly opened the door and walked away. And this is before seat belts.

I´ve just finished "Stray" BTW. This is a lovely game, but not without a deep message. I don´t wanna spoil it, just that it´s ending with a hint to a sequel. Definitely a day one purchase without refund as soon as it gets launched.

I too love how off topic these threads go. Long may they continue. (Within reason)
