Did somebody want a tier list for the loco add-ons? Well here you go, following on from how successful that thread was, it's now time we did one for all the loco add-ons, expansion packs and bundles that have come to TSW over the years, from the CSX GP40-2, right through to the recently released Norfolk Southern Heritage Livery Collection. Rankings are the same as they were for the routes, but for those unaware, here's what they are (with my own personal spin of course): GOLD Star Loco: This is for what you consider as the best of the best that TSW has to offer regarding loco add-ons Star Loco: A loco add-on that is pretty good, but not quite on the level of the tier above. Above Standard: Pretty much self-explanatory, a loco add-on that is above average. Middle of the Tracks: A loco add-on that is neither good or bad, it just sits in the middle, as the title suggests. Below Standard: Same as two tiers above, but the other way round. Bad Experience: A pretty bad loco add-on, but not on the level of the tier below which is... TRAIN WRECK: The lowest of the low, the very worst when it comes to TSW, loco add-on-wise. Don't Own/Never Played: If you haven't played with a particular route, don't worry, you can put it here. Link to Tier List Here …and here's what all the icons mean: As always, some key note I want to point out here: This covers every single piece of loco DLC, ranging from standalone Loco Add-Ons, expansion packs, livery packs & Bundles. They are all found in this list. The CSX GP40-2 & the Amtrak SW1000R are included here (featured in TSW 2020, but never came over to TSW2 & beyond) for those that did have a go with it and want to rank it as well. The Southeastern BR Class 465 is from when it was a standalone loco add-on for the OG Southeastern High Speed (before it was bundled into the route, when it came over to TSW3). For the expansion packs that bring 3 locos to a core 3 routes (New Journey's and Loco Bundles 1 & 2) I spilt them up into the individual components so that they can be ranked a little easier. Here is my list. It may be a bit controversial, but just my opinion. I don't like playing certain locomotives such as the 33 and the maroon 52 since I don't like west somerset railway but I bought anyway due to a sale lol. Some I no longer play but enjoyed playing with them.
Here is mine, what I will say is that if Diesel Legends had period scenery and the 33 could be more widely used they would both be in the star section.
This Time with a little explanation: DB BR 182- I know it has its Bugs, but I really enjoy driving it, the Dispolok 182 would also be higher up if Hamburg-Lübeck's MRCE182 didn't exist. I wish there were more Routes where we could use the BR182 for Passenger Services. DB BR 101- Nice Loco, good DLC but it just gets a boring really fast. The same Service without stopping again and again DB BR 187 - Please don't hurt me, it's Fun as long as you don't hear the Loco, I always hear Music when I'm using the BR187. I still think that if Skyhook manages to fix the Sound of the Train sometime in the Future, this DLC could be to Freight what the BR 101 is to Passenger Services. Simbly the Best DB BR 363 - This Loco would certainly be much higher on the List, but this Loco is also included in both Dresden Routes. That makes this DLC a little redundant. Vossloh G6 - The Graphicbug is an absolute Funkiller for me. DB BR 423 The included Timetable is absolutely great, but the Train itself is the laziest thing I've ever seen from DTG, it still says S-Bahn München in some places. Dont Own - These Loco Addons are sorted in the order in which I would probably buy them if I had a few euros to spare.
I know that, I apologise, that was poorly worded by me. What I actually mean is that the two Dresden Routes take away the uniqueness of the BR 363 DLC
My list, based on but not limited by or to; -some bugs -my use time with them -expectations before release -comparable quality perceived by me edit: Rogue old NEC add on in below standard, I don’t own it, though it did have a strange bug on my console what said I did but I never payed and couldn’t play it, so not technically wrong on that front Few notes on why I choose where; G6 - Regrettably had to put it down from gold tier due to a long running texture bug below the loco what breaks immersion by coming through visually in the cab or a large area Acela - texture flicker and passenger compartment bugs blocked it from the gold tier unfortunately. DB 182 - desk light/instrument light issue put this one down a few tiers. DB 155 - spend a lot of time and it’s an enjoyable rather higher quality piece of dlc despite its age DB 101 - cab car expectancy put it down my list unfortunately DB 423 for koln, timetable boosts it up, apart from that it’s a slightly different livery to Munchen Augsburg dlc
it certainly changed it from a loco dlc to a RSN scenario and single livery pack in my knowledge of what changed.
Class 700/0 is low because it's actually terrible on PS5. Insane seeing the difference in quality between what I'm playing and what PC players get.
Here's my initial one Updated version There's a reason why Class 313/2 is below standard is that the DSD when turned on you can't reset that with the Pedal. For Bad Experience the Reskinned Clinchfield SD40 because when coupled to AC4400CW you need to use both its own brakes and the SD40 brakes downhill on Sand Patch Grade towards Cumberland, MD. Train Wreck for me the Dispolok 182 because when you resume from a save with AFB on it simply causes your train not to able to move. Therefore you must run it without it happening to me on the Riesa-Dresden route. In earlier versions of the Game, it lacks the power to pull 40 Laaers 560s up a gradient. An example is my Leipzig Engelsdorf to Emden run on the Wunderline Bremen Oldenburg Groningen route.
182 is a train wreck due to its bugs, MP36 would be the same if not for a mod that enables it's selection in the timetable. Once again, a lot of addons that I would place in the bad experience or standard I simply refuse to buy.
Good list there and I went with its Reskinned version the Dispolok as my train wreck loco because when you resume from a save game with AFB it simply sets that to 0 kmh requiring you to drive manual from the save game.
Sad to see the class 20 and 31 so low on some lists. It's a shame they haven't layered them to TVL or used the 20's on the RHTT so more people can experience the joy.
Like it and what was your reason on why the Dispolok 182 was bad experience for you? For me Train wreck because when you resume from Save with AFB it simply sends your speed down to 0 kmh
I don’t use saves because of the issues they bring so I wouldn’t know about that. It’s still a driveable loco with acceptable physics and sounds, but the borderline not-working LZB and horrible cab quality bring it down to bad experience for me.
I haven't got a huge amount of loco DLCs the 465 is there cos I technically have it in sehs. I put the br heavy freight pack (which I do have) on top because of the 40s epic thrash and the clag
