Is anyone receiving a fatal error message when trying to load the Hudson Line: New York to Croton Harmon route? Just recently, I started receiving this error when launching Train Simulator in both 32 bit mode as well as 64 bit mode. It happens with any career or standard scenario lately. Could this be due to the core of the simulator being updated. No other line but the Hudson line seems to be effected.

Is there a fix to the fatal error? I created a backup of my assets folder as I have mods installed for each of the locomotives/rolling stock

It seems verifying the integrity of the game files fixed the issue. This is while no mods are installed. After I reinstalled all the mods, scenarios involving the Genset as well as the CSX SD40-2 don't appear to work crashing the game. I am not to sure if it could be the OpenNEC enhancement pack or not but none the less, it doesn't bother me too much as I have completed these scenarios long ago when I had TS2020 installed on my older computer. If anything, I will uninstall all the mods at some point as I have a backup of them on an external drive in case I ever want to reinstall them

I would suggest installing the mods one at a time and testing the route that way you will know which mod is causing the problem.
