So, it looks like we will get a lot of versions for TSW4:
    101 - Standard
    102 - Deluxe
    103 - Special?
    104 - Flying Scotsman
    105 - US
    106 - Central Europe

yes, for TSW3, the country versions could not pre-ordered. Only standard and deluxe. and now add the special, you get 3

The only thing that needs to be justified is the financial case.
Do DTG make money from it - Yes - therefore TSW4.

My next worry is that DTG don’t mess up the timetable for the ECML. Probably my biggest worry as their is a lot of services on the KGX-PBO service… anything less than normal will make the route feel empty

Your last point is my point

as a lower priced add later something like this would be a nice addition. But there isn’t enough trains to showcase it at launch.

if all of the speculation is true. I’m breaking my own rule rule. I should wait until announcements are official on Tuesday to form an opinion. I hate making conclusions based on assumptions even all the internet sleuthing being done

I wouldn't worry too much, we already have the 387 and 700 so we'd only need the 800/801 and we'd have the vast majority of services that operate.

Is this what train simulator classic calls the three Country Corner route if yes we have it they should have actually made this in the first place the three Country Corner route. I wonder if Austrian locomotives can simply push the existing Doppelstockwagen 767.2 766.2 780 785 or not if yes then they replicate a 182 dosto trips

The debacle with Add-Ons Manager not being inluded in TSW3, being a announced as coming "soon" and then taking almost 6 months to be released was so infuriating it drove me away from the game as well for a while so I certainly get how you feel.

It's just frustrating as when TSW is good it's fantastic, but it's constantly let down by lack of consistencey between routes and that fixes don't some in a timely fashion after a release.

I hope TSW4 delivers what you're hoping for to revitalise your enjoyment of the game.

What's the issue if I choose to be skeptical about something? I don't understand the arrogant and condescending bashing towards it

Because there is being skeptical, then there is ignoring clear evidence. It's not arrogance and condescending, it's not understanding someone being in denial in the face of evidence.
It is on their website, it is labeled as TSW4. It's official.

Not really bothered at all. IMO DTG is very clear on what their business model is. They sell trains and they want to bleed you dry selling trains. I was warned of their business model before I purchased TSW. This game will cost you a lot of money so seeing these number changes is rather soothing for big time investors in this game. Your precious collection of expensive trains remains supported. From the moment they stop producing new routes and marketing new versions I would get worried that there won't be any fixes coming anymore.

It's been in it for a really long time.

Far too many people up their own rear ends who think they're better than everyone else, and can't handle disagreement.

  25. If TSW4 turns out to be fixes and/or upgrades of TSW3 with some routes to sweeten the pill, I imagine those for whom the routes hold little attraction might feel quite angry.

Linking upgrades or fixes to the core with the requirement to buy unwanted product is the crux of the matter as far as I'm concerned and is the business practice that caused me to look seriously at other products even though they might be less optimal from a game experience perspective.

If you support questionable business practices with your wallet you really shouldn't be surprised if they continue.

So speculating, but what ever new features and upgrades are coming out it will be included on NYT new timetable. The catch is you will have to get TSW4 to get the new timetable and upgrade

  30. It's when you charge for bug fixes that it becomes an issue. For clarity I'm not suggesting that this is the case, just something to be vigilant for.
If it then happens, the choice on whether to continue buying into that is one I hope people would make in order to continue supporting the hobby, but it is a subscription model in all but name at that point.

    The beauty of ECML South is that owners of other routes will benefit greatly because the following stock can be layered in;
    Class 43 (HST)
    Class 313
    Class 387
    Class 700
In theory you could add just a Class 91 and an AC version of the 465 and you've already got a very realistic route. Just one totally new piece of traction required, assuming they have the tools to alter the Networker bodyshell.

Some lovely other tractions options for ECML too. A4, 55, 312, 317, 321, IET.

Presuming they do it in the modern era 2019 would be the year to do it as this section was very very varied then and used a lot of types in game (as you mention).

It would be a much better route done in the 70s or early 80s but, hey ho!

Much the same as TSW2 to TSW3.
Bug fixes will be given plenty of time to be worked upon, alongside the route. One would hope they get as much as possible done in that time - they practically ceased work on TSW3 routes after Peak Forest released - that was the 9th of may. The only route since then was Glossop Line, which was helped by Rivet doing a lot of the scenery, and the 700 Loco Add-on also helped keep cash flowing.

With a release seemingly at the end of September, it would be, roughly, 3½ months since Peak Forest released. So it's enough work to be put out as a new installment, reasonably. That factors in the fact we're looking at four routes + a Flying Scotsman Loco, and that the standard bundle will likely be £35, maybe £40. A good deal.

Sure, not everyone will like the routes (tough), and it's a bit wrong to charge people for bug fixes (indirectly), but at least they're here.
The reason nobody votes against it with their wallet, is because they clearly don't care enough. If they did, they would say enough's enough.
Positives can outweight negatives, and most people choose to let the positives take their money.

Yes I drive those a lot on TSC. They were mixed in with 700 around 2019. I’ll be honest. I’m waiting for the official announcement for ECML. I’ve been disappointed over and over with to high expectations….. I can see one need Loco . Unless ATS has been working on the ECML all this time ….I’m setting my expectations low. Don’t want to be disappointed again, again, and again

  38. Agreed, but it was funny watching the outrage at some tongue in cheek comments about TSW4 being a subscription service. If you pay £40 every year for fixes and some routes you may or mat not want, that looks a lot like a subscription service to me.
I know I'm being facetious with this but I'm also hoping to kill off an argument from a tangent. If its good enough I'll absolutely buy in, but I hope those that choose otherwise and some that choose to in fact, don't complain about marginal gains.
Summed up as take it or leave it I guess ;)

If it's not ECML south then everyone at DTG will be having a good old laugh at us at the moment.

"and the UK route is.........Tyne & Wear Metro" as a thousand hearts sink.

Even if they don't make alot of bug fixes. We need new features in new routes if their going to keep pumping them out like this. Not the same old stuff like smart PIS and like good sounds. Something new that will make people want to buy it like Gaurd Mode, GSMR, TMS Screens, Announcements, New messages on smart PIS or the option to trigger messages to be played, new passenger features, etc...
Otherwise dtg will loose sales unless they improve and add to old routes or add new features when making new routes.

Unlike TSW3, personally I feel all the of the (likely) routes for TSW4 are worthwhile plus we don't know if there is also a fourth consisting of a German extension. If as rumoured it brings more to the Dresden - Riesa table then that will also be welcomed with open arms into my collection. Hey maybe it will be a curved ball and PFR extended to Derby and Manchester (admittedly unlikely).

Well I guess we will find out in 5 days time exactly what's what.

There is a very big difference. If you don't pay for your subscription your game stops working. If you don't pay for a yearly "patchfix" you still get to play or at least the part that was playable ;)

I understand a lot of the disappointment behind Antelope Valley. But what people need to understand is it sets up for a future LA-San Diego Route with Metrolink and Pacific Surfliner and maybe (hopefully) Coaster. This would be the pinnacle of west coast routes. The west coast version of NYT. I agree it's an odd starting point, but you need to start somewhere to start making a "deeper bucket" in LA. I share the confusion and slight disappointment, but have some optimism for future possibilities. TSW is still a very young franchise, don't forget that.

Let's be honest, PS is unrealistic route candidat for TSW, cause its length. ~128 miles without tunnels on half of the length(yeah, I'm about SKW) - not even sound like TSW5 core route.
