I recently bought the New York-Trenton route and the Acela in the current PS Sale. Still have to get started on this route. Question for the players that have experience with this route: I usually use all safety systems. Is it worth to turn these on and learn how to use them on this route? Or is it the same situation as on the Boston-Providence route: that they're not working properly to the point that it's better to just not bother ?

On new York trenton, it behaves much worse. Putting it into suppression doesn't acknowledge the alarm and you get emergency braked which is the main reason I keep it off. The Boston one doesn't do that

Now the New York - Trenton DLC is on sale. Is this DLC worth buying?

I guess that all depends on what your expectations are. It is an open question what further fixes are coming, besides the timetable. We also do not know if you will have to pay for "TSW4" in order to access whatever improvements are coming to NYT. My personal preference is to wait and potentially pay full price for a DLC that I know is acceptable, as opposed to buying on sale and then hoping it is improved, or regretting it when it is not improved. Although, since I play on Xbox, the point is moot for me in any case.

Thank you for answer. I'd rather wait to buy this DLC.

I would say snap it up. When the update comes, it's likely that it will be similar to the SEHS upgrade and those of us who popped for it earlier will get the upgrade for free in some fashion.

If you are sure you there will be an update soon I would go for it but I bought this one a week ago and can't imagine there will be an update soon. Seems like a lot of work needs to be done to get this right.

Thanks for the anwers. I prefer to wait until the new timetable is published. I don't mind paying full price if the DLC is good quality.

Here’s a good video catching morning action from NEC (NJT and Amtrak)at Harrison station.
Around 79 trains between 7-10am. If you look toward the far left you can just about make out some of the trains headin and coming from Newark brad street.Hopefully soon we will get this reflected and experience it on new NYT timetable.

That's my video! Thanks for finding and sharing! Here's the other one I made from my trip last month showing the extended evening rush (over 100 trains in a little under 4 1/2 hours):

Happy to answer any questions about track routing around this area, too! (There's a really weird situation in the afternoon video where a westbound Northeast Regional was late enough that they sent it and a westbound Acela on parallel tracks, and an eastbound NJT to NYP has to stay on the Hoboken/Hudson Yard track through Rea, which is exceedingly rare.)

Very nice videos from the real NEC route! I made a quick comparison of the same camera position from the youtube videos and in TSW. At the same time, I also discovered the multi-storey car park center, from where you have this great view of the track and Manhattan.

    NYT Location.jpg
What I noticed is that in the TSW timetable you don't stop at Harrison station, you just drive through. Probably only other commuter lines or trains stop there.

Great snapshot with the the Pennsylvania livery! ;)

Where do the Ratitan line trains go that terminate at Newark Penn. How far do they go to turn back.

Correct and it's also reflected on the main Motorway between Newark and Clinton I-78. On that motorway, High Bridge is exits 17-18 while Newark Penn is exit 57. That used to go 85 miles to Allentown, PA via the Easton Delaware River Bridge railroad. NEC Trenton to Boston can also get PRR and CRRNJ era post Aldene connection DLC locos GP-40P GG1 P5A E33 E44. On the Motorway by Annandale station, it has 8 Bedminster 18 Watchung (RVL Plainfield Stop) 36 Newark (NEC Newark Penn which is on NEC Trenton-Boston via Ruggles Northeastern Uni and Providence Brown Uni stations)

Not sure if this has been reported already, since I’ve barely played Trenton (waiting on the timetable completion), but 3228 Long Branch to Penn (8:57 Cab Car service) just spawns you on foot in random locations, not in your train.

Seems another issue with spawning directly. Have you tried spawning in at Rahway around 8:55 and then walking to NJCL 3228 Long Branch Red Bank NY Penn at Rahway? Speaking of Rahway to NY Penn NJCL trips have you tried NJCL 3508 09:33 Rahway to NY Penn if present in-game because it might have the same spawn issue as 3328. The link is from the current NJCL schedule

The raritan valley line is diesel. It doesn’t quite parallel I-78 even though it ends up there. It dips south towards bound brook then turns northwest ish to high bridge

If you're asking about how they turn at the east end of the line (near Newark), there are three answers. Most run through Harrison and layover in Hudson Yard, which is just around the bend to the left of the view from my videos. A few continue all the way to NJT's MMC Yard and layover there. And there are some, it seems particularly during the morning rush, that turn in Newark Penn itself without ever running further east. These trains would arrive from Raritan/High Bridge on Newark track 5, rather than crossing all the way over from Hunter to track 1 or track A.

Considering Boston Sprinter had the Acela as a loco DLC, I'd love to see NY-Trenton have the Acela 21 Avelia Liberty as a loco DLC - really impressive to see YouTube videos of it doing 165mph! :o

Of course, I meant rather it would be nice to see in TSW someday regardless. The current Acela in TSW has become one of my favourite loco DLCs so would like to see more similar content.

I have heard of other DLC had been affected by the update that happened for SEHS prior to the 700 releasing. That’s upgrade caused many services to spawn you of foot . I think is best if you report on technical report section since you have a specific service. That way is at least logged for them to hopefully patch it in the future.

If you are wondering where would that go on this route it's the section between Trenton and New Brunswick Max line speed is 165 mph 265 kmh. That train can be used to make the French 15kv 16.7hz 25kv 50hz and 1.5kv DC version Société Nationale Chemin du Fer Français Avelia Horizon.

You are correct and if you were on the Dual carriageway which is US-22 you have signs there towards the Raritan Valley Line this is from Plainfield to High Bridge section. On the ALP-45DP 4535 and Up are Alstom while Bombardier is 4500-4534. The game needs RVL services Newark to NY Penn playable including the Track 5 AI. The last trip from NYC on the RVL is 22:45

I think Joe had mentioned he was going to make the Ratitan services that go to penn playable. I think is 16 total. Something I had mentioned to him back in June on this thread and he added them.

Awesome, can't wait for it, because the route is really quite dead at the moment. One of the things I love about Boston Sprinter is how busy South Boston Station is, it's nice always having multiple trains moving when you pull in/out of the station.

Right, people don’t know how to properly operate trains, then get mad and call them broken etc..

I never got mad or called them broken. I know how to drive the acs64. I played the entire acs64 timetable in boston sprinter with all safety and signaling systems on. In my experience, the trenton acs64 did not acknowledge in suppression braking and resulted in a emergency application even though I've pressed the button many times. There's even videos showing that as well which is why I haven't touched the dlc since launch. The Boston acs64 meanwhile works completely fine.

Do AI trains still run with the pantographs down? And there's no lighting in the cars. I didn't find a fix for this in the patch notes.

wow! Didn’t realize you were here. Your videos are legend! For years since I was a child, I’ll occasionally revisit your July 2001 videos there at Harrison. (Love all the Clickety-Clack). It’s just a shame post 9/11, Photography isn’t allowed on PATH property.

A massive timetable update like the one they are currently doing takes a long time to develop and test.

OOOOF... that's right... what if the timetable update for NEC is locked behind the TSW4 paywall and will not be released for TSW3? (like TSW2 fixes) Yikes... didn't even think of that.

If it's gonna be a timetable worth of the name NY I want it tested. I don't want to be the beta tester for such a timetable. I still refuse to play the Harlem line because of my first impressions of it. (Crashing into another train)

The new timetable for NYT will almost certainly be locked behind a TSW4 paywall. The apparent reason we don't already have it is for the coming dispatcher improvements. Said improvements presumably being a part of TSW4. Even if DTG promises these improvements for TSW3, if they are anything like the TSW2 fixes that are still on the roadmap, then good luck.

But maybe TSW4 will be a free upgrade? So there is always hope. If not then I'm sure NYT and "Antelope Valley" will be a fine pairing!

In my opinion, Harlem line is probably the best US passenger route in the game. It has a complete timetable . Is only missing the M8 new haven line trains. I have completed all M3A services and I'm about halfway through the M7A. Yea agree it was a rough start but that's was then.
