I've compiled a list of potential new layers that I can think of. This isn't a suggestion of new rolling stock, but what, from the existing TSW catalogue, could layer into other routes, for additional services, either for the player, AI, or both.

Timetables and layering are TSW's biggest strength - the best routes are those with the richest timetables - and there is a lot of potential for routes to be enhanced with rolling stock that has been released since they were. To do so, provides so many benefits:

    1. Increasing the immersion of routes
    2. Increasing the replayability of routes
    3. Providing more opportunities to drive certain trains
    4. Making free roam more interesting
    5. Making our DLC collections feel and act like a real collection
    6. Emphasising the world part of Train Sim World.

This isn't speculation, we've seen it with our own eyes, with Dresden - Riesa and SE Highspeed. It is possible for a great many routes to be that exciting, that rich and varied, and so this list gives DTG a few pointers as to what can be done. It's my view that this should be a continuous process.

I've made the document open for you to add edits. Doubtless there are things I've missed, as my knowledge of US rail is limited, and my knowledge outside of the North East is zero. Please add your own edits, but bear in mind:

    a) this is only for suggestions regarding existing stock, not new DLC
    b) equally, it's only using existing liveries.
    c) suggestions should obviously be realistic, but compromises can be made for 100% accuracy if the train broadly fits (e.g. the DB 612 doing the job of all modern German DMUs)

    The spreadsheet is here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HdxCx21P1Mv2lT_FCGlWGbMCHV0nEI2q61fko5QUop8/edit?usp=sharing

Good job with that. I suppose my only issue is that you put the 150 on northern transpennine. The route is set in 1983 and the 150’s were constructed between 84/87. But other than that it’s a good idea

Similarly with the 385 on Cathcart, which is a 2014 route.
Nonetheless, it could be moved around to fit it.

I know this divides TSW fans, but I've always been the view that you can bend reality slightly if its plausible - as you say, the difference with these trains is a matter of years, and the timetables can be adjusted, but even if not, it's a worthwhile compromise. I'd use the example of the 612, which is a temporary fit for almost all modern DMU services, even though its actual duties are more limited. Despite that, though, it's close enough until something else comes along, and it can be replaced.

That's not to say that anything goes - it has to be realistic rather than necessarily being 100% real - until it can be.

Speaking of Southeastern High Speed it has diesel rail tours from NTP WSR and TVL. Cathcart Circle NTP is required for rail tours RRO 146.2 Main Spessart Bahn or Nahverkehr Dresden

Great list mate however I am in the era correctness camp so I want to point out a couple of things:
    • 150 on NTP is an absolute no, no for reasons stated above
    • The jubilee pack is a no, no on SoS and PFR as it is in preservation condition and fitted with modern gismos
    • The 40 and 45s were both withdrawn by when TVL is set so wouldn't appear. This is one I would like to see an era change to one year earlier to see the final days on the peaks as this area is where many finished up.

Other than that a great list mate so good on you!

    Nice idea and good list.
I'd concur with the majority of points regarding UK save for adding
    • Please don't tarnish NTP with the rather poor 150
    • The 40's, Blue 47's and 45 don't have High Intensity Headlights or other necessary equipment and so being pedantic, shouldn't really be on any modern railtours

    Fantastic job!
Except the Suggestions forum is over there.
And I bet there's no moderator on this forum with the ability to move the thread where it belongs.

-Peninsula Corridor: Increased Playable Services from Union Pacific via Sherman Hill (General freight)
-Sherman Hill: AI BNSF Services in Cheyenne
