For reference I use XSX & play services whatever month and day it is in real life, some months back the dynamic weather was very predictable 99% of the time it switched from my default clear to rain, but for about 3 months now it has at best changes to slightly cloudy and back to clear, I haven’t seen rain on the services I’ve played usually between 30mins - 1hr for those 3 months ish I means it’s not very prototypical for British summers. is this a product of the games summer months not having rain in dynamic? Or is it dynamic weather in general not being dynamic to anything but slightly changing ?
Yes, I've seen a few posts about this over the summer, and my recollection from a livestream is that the summer months feature more realistic weather patterns. Well, realistic for most summers. If starting on clear, there's a much smaller chance of it raining, and a better chance of it clearing-up. That's not to say it doesn't rain though - a ran a service in the past week that eventually had a little rain by the end. Personally, I'm enjoying a little respite from the complaints that it rains all the time. I'm sure those will return later in the year. The best way to confirm this is to run a service with another month set, and see what happens.
Remember dynamic weather has four weather patterns that are quite different, one for each season. This is based on the date in the date picker when you start the service, which is in turn defaulted to the current date in reality when you boot the game. Matt.
I remember it defaulting to "7th January" or something like that, was that ever a confirmed bug or was that my system being funky?
Dynamic weather transitions are way too fast. Still needs a lot of work. Also would be nice to have live weather based on the real locations like OMSI and MSFS have.
I’ve noticed the less common changes but assumed it was behaviour due to summer months (which seems to be correct). Overall I’m a lot happier with the weather now than at release. I still see transitions when playing but they seem more natural than the “start on a clear summers day and within 10 minutes get ready to board Noah’s ark” biblical storms at release. One thing I was curious is do the weather patterns vary by location or is the likelihood of rain the same in UK as it is in Barstow CA?
I think it's a bug. Matt is correct it defaults to the system date at start up but if you play a service with one loco then choose another loco it defaults to January
Strange, sometimes I load up a service and it says my date and time, other times it says January 15th. Compete pot luck which one it says but I’ve never understood why it happens
