    Hi all!

I'm Mark from Just Trains, just wanted to jump in and create a thread for the upcoming Blackpool-Preston-Ormskirk route that our team are really excited to release for TSW4 in the coming months.

    Description:
Blackpool-Preston-Ormskirk gives you the unique opportunity to experience this classic route that spans from Blackpool North in the West over to Preston situated on the West Coast Main Line in the East and down to Ormskirk in the South during what was the lines most interesting period with busy and diverse operations.

You can choose between a wide variety of locomotive diagrams including express, local and regional passenger, alongside extensive true-to-life freight workings experiencing locations ranging from suburban areas to industrial scenery to picturesque countryside as well as stunning views of the holiday destination of Blackpool, with its popular Pleasure Beach and the dazzling lights of the Blackpool Tower during the 1986 summer holiday season, although the year long timetable includes Summer and Illumination Specials and Railtours for you to experience.

The total track length of the route is 48 miles, also included is the secondary single line to Blackpool South from Kirkham & Wesham and the Burn Naze freight branch (formerly known as the Fleetwood line) which runs from Poulton-le-Fylde to Thornton power station!

The included Class 142 DMU, Class 47/4 Diesel Locomotive, 08 Diesel Shunter, Passenger coaches and TEA Tank Wagons give you a very wide variety of driving experiences via the extensive, true to life, full, real world 24-Hour seasonal timetable with over 250 drivable services ranging from local, express and freight workings to summer extras and shunting operations plus numerous Ai workings to give a very authentic feel.

For all the info about the upcoming route please check out our website:
    https://www.justtrains.net/in-development/tsw-blackpool-preston-ormskirk-route-addon

If you've got any questions please don't hesitate to ask them and we'll do our best to answer them for you!

    Thanks!
    Just Trains Team

I’ll be the first to say it.

This was an absolute guaranteed purchase as I’m big a fan of the stuff you guys have done over the last few years. The route does look great but I’m sorry to say that it’s a purchase that is likely lost as a result of DTG having put your route behind a paywall.

To play your route players have to stump up a minimum of £60. If this really is the new normal then I give up.

Looking really good guys and it turns out the detective work that took place around the teaser screenshots hit the right spot.

This is going to be a real treat, especially bouncing around in the Pacer.

Yes, we enjoyed watching people working out what it was! We were surprised people managed to guess the locations of the screenshots without fully knowing what the route was too!! :D

I actually called this on a video that we were doing when we first saw the first screenshot but because my brother is a fan of "the train that never dies" so I am definitely looking forward to this one and you know the first scenario we do for the channel. it is going to be on that pacer bus

it may go into a standard pack like with how you could get Birmingham Cross City and TSW3 without owning the 3 base routes but that isn’t shown yet.

    "Essentially a patch..."
LD 2.0, SP 2.0, Editor, Photo Mode, Three Routes + a Remastered one + two loco DLCs...
In other words - the majority of what people have been asking for.

Do lighten up a little bit.

    The routes are irrelevant.

You are being charged for stuff that is essentially fixes to already released features. As happened last year, the game is being put behind a paywall and it is disgusting. Just Train’s route has been put behind a paywall.

And photo mode? Do give me a break.

In case anyone hasn't seen/found the layers list it looks very interesting! I really like the look of what I'm seeing!

3 new locos this time around, I’m sure rush hour had 1 so that’s better on that front in comparison to a rush hour.

You are being charged for all of those new features and the routes, as well as updates.

Don't ask me - check the steam page(s)!

Now can I be greedy and request the expansion pack for this is a driveable Blackpool Tramway?!

Though I'm guessing now we are getting the route editor we can do a mashup version of this using a German EMU...

    Rush Hour had any?

TSW3 was only one, iirc - the ICE1.

And if we include the locos it rises to 5 for TSW4 (IET, Flying Scotsman, The OBB train, Vectron and the American one).

    So it's the best since TSW2 (3 - 1972 Stock, ICE3 and the Talent 2)

The new features are nothing. The stuff that really matters is nowhere to be seen. There are no fixes to the myriad of broken content.

By all means charge for this nonsense individually (I have zero interest in livery designer, scenario planner or photo mode) but to put the continued growth of a person’s collection behind a paywall for the second year running is beyond the pale.

No fixes for Peak Forrest. No stop boards for the 700. No patch for Glossop. All things that were promised and are now not happening. Just as I was beginning to warm to TSW3 DTG pull this LOVE. We might as well go and start the TSW5 speculation thread now huh?

Such a Brilliant route!!! This is not far where is live ,thanks Just Trains

Just one Little Smallest Mistake of all time….. one the Wipers are facing the wrong way. There all supposed to face to one side On a 142 unlike the 143.

A point worth making with the layers is that the list is expansive BUT it doesn't mean you'll lose lots of services if you don't own the layered trains. If you only own the base route and nothing else you'll only lose around 15-20 services (mainly freight and the steam railtour etc), you'll keep all the booked passenger services and the freight to Burn Naze. The layering is mainly there to serve it's purpose in providing that 1980's versatility where a number of different classes could turn up. It's always fun loading up at Blackpool North for instance, on one load you could find the sidings are 47s, the next time it could be 47s and a 40, on the odd occasion I've had 2 40s etc and 31's can also appear on some services, albeit all these to a lesser extent than the 47.

    Cheers,
    Mark

Is this set before Pleasure Beach station opened? As I see it isn't shown on the map DTG posted on twitter.

I second this, if it was made available for TSW3 as it was intended when it was announced I would definitely buy it but with it being locked behind yet again DTG paywall update... It just won't be happening, which is a shame because the route looks great especially in the BR blue era and all the layers you've included.

It’s not about the features. It’s the fact that your route, that many of us have been looking forward to and which was announced months ago, has been put behind a paywall. It’s disgusting.

There's like 4 other threads available for people who want to moan about TSW4 (which is actually a good deal when you break down its cost vs the cost of these new routes if they were released 1 by 1 as TSW3 content).

The JT route is also months away so if its the cost of the core game bothering you it will probably go on sale by then.

As a driver, who drives in and out of Preston all of the time, I'm really looking forward to driving this route in a historic setting. I'll be signing over to Blackpool North soon so it will be interesting to compare what is and isn't there now after the Blackpool electrification and upgrade. Preston station looks great already and instantly recognisable.

I also signed the class 142s as a guard, but sadly never got to work them from my depot, so looking forward to getting on one again, even if virtually now they're retired.

Really like the prospect of this route, there seems to be a lot of variety to the gameplay with essentially 4 routes in 1 here (Ormskirk, Blackpool South, Blackpool North and the freight line)

i'd love to know more about the timetable that will be included with this route, especially the timetable of the Class 142!

I'm curious what other trains/services layer into the route. I am assuming some stuff from NTP or TVL will pop up, I am pretty sure I saw some stuff in the screenshots that isn't included with the route.

I travelled to Blackpool a few times in the 90s as a child on my holidays with the family so this has really wetted my appetite. Class 142 bouncing along will be a nostalgia blast for me. Can't wait.

We've got our usual Developer posts planned for the website in the coming weeks and one of those will focus solely on the Timetable.

What I can say in brief is that it's very diverse, we spent weeks working on a spreadsheet to create the 1986 Working Timetable and then worked out what paths we had to put in the extras.

The idea is that if you launch in mid-summer you'll find the whole route is full of trains, holiday extras and the like. In Autumn you'll find the Blackpool Illumination Specials (among others) and so on.
