And when TSW4 is out we’ll have threads talking about TSW6.

Until JD leaks otherwise, rule out TSW4.

From experience drunk men are far more likely to maker their own facilities in the absence of any. Women much less likely

Not sure how they correlate. Maybe you're just biased because you want them to move to UE5 for whatever reason you think is useful (which in TSWs case it won't be unless they change to in engine processes... they add much of their own process onto the core engine as it is)

Having spent lots of time in various regions of France, I can tell you that they don't need to be drunk to do that at all.
The French have never really been as concerned with privacy as other parts of Europe/the world.
I went to a French school several times and the urinals were out in the playground in full view of everyone and made of stone.

Oh, and the ladies were just as bad as the men for car parks, beaches, roadside etc.

For the school it’s extremely rare mine wasn’t like that and about privacy you find the same thing in many parts of the world.

    Women's Toilets - Cubicals
    Men's - Both (Urinals for #1s, Cubicals for #2s)

Especially in Sports Venues and Public Spaces. Most people use toilets there to urinate - so stick urinals in to maximise space.

Also, it's more fun standing up.

All I think Max means means is that the move from TSW2 to TSW3 wasn't exactly warranted because there weren't many new features. To warrant new branding (i.e. TSW2 to TSW3), you should have something sizable to present such as an engine upgrade. To increment the game number just because another year or two has passed isn't enough justification.

In my opinion the game should still be on TSW2. The original game was on UE4 4.16.3 and it's now up to 4.26. I feel that with all the new features we have now (dynamic weather, etc.) plus the engine version upgrade since original launch...we should still be at Train Sim World 2. The engine upgrade and new features independently weren't enough to jump the game from TSW to TSW3.

I think TSW 4 should only be a thing when DTG have developed their own engine, allowing for unrestricted user editing capabilities a la TSC. However things seem to be most profitable the way they are and so I won't be holding my breath.

Considering UE5 would require virtually everything in the game to be rebuilt, probably would be a good enough reason to make a new TSW title.

TSW3 required a route rebuild (SEHS), lighting rebuild of any assets that existed in TSW2 route to TSW3 route (again SEHS), remap of weather and skybox to the new framework, remap of lighting to allow TSW2 routes to work in TSW3 etc etc

Similar would need to be done to move from UE4 to UE5 even without anything else being done

A UE4 revision jump (4.16 to 4.26) isn't as big a task as porting the whole project from UE4 to UE5.

From what I've read this is blatantly untrue...

4.16 to 4.23 had an impact on all sorts of things within the engine, let alone modded add ins. UE5 has an import routine which should (in theory) make things a bit simpler than without, but until you've run an import DTG wouldn't know specifically (and I'm sure they've done that even if only for spits and giggles)

If I remember correctly Matt said they had some really weird impacts in going from 16 - 23 including signals turning into cars and so on

TSW 3 didn't require a route rebuild of sehs. That was a decision DTG made themselves. DTG also decided to make the lighting much brighter and arguably worse than tsw2. Dynamic weather was always a feature in the game engine but DTG didn't want to implement it until now and volumetric clouds were always in the engine. These are not massive changes. These are basic things already in the engine that frankly didn't justify a paid update from tsw2 to tsw3 and I'm not alone in that view.

At least they made TSW3 available on Xbox Gamepass

I think TSW2 was the pinnacle really, with the release of Southeastern High Speed, Cathcart, Spirit of Steam, London Commuter. I know things are broken in it but if the promised fixes had been applied, it would have stayed a very strong game with no issues adding new Routes. It still has a lot going for it; you can see your medals at the end of runs, the Mastery rewards work for the most part, the Save Game / Red Light issues are not there as far as I can tell. My opinions only; it's the version I have the most hours in and I think it represents the best product.

Given the number of TSW3 routes I’ve bought, I honestly wish I‘d stayed on TSW2. I mostly play TSW2 routes. 1 of them I have to play in TSW2 because it’s mostly broken in TSW3 since launch and another still works better in TSW2 because a ‘fix’ broke a load of services. Unless whatever is announced next week has something really special or contains a lot of fixes, then I have learned my lesson and will wait for a route I like or a sale.

DTG will get my money anyway, just for TSC instead, which I’m really enjoying at the moment.

There are a lot of things to like about TSC: my favorite is the engine which keeps the external camera (2) from being affected by collisions with scenery, other trains, etc. It keeps the same distance from the train no matter what. There is also a lot more zoom capability with the cameras. While I'm more familiar with the UI in TSW2, the way TSC runs it feels like you are driving a train, and that's really what it's all about for me.

TSW4 is being announced on Tuesday. It's not really a case of if/maybe anymore. The leaks have already confirmed it.

Can I ask which routes work better in TSW2? I bought TSW3 in the Humble Bundle sale and will install it someday, but it would be good to know which TSW2 routes to keep.

I don’t think either of these routes were in the humble bundle, but …..

Rapid Transit - On TSW2 The Dosto Cab car is drivable. On TSW3 you can never move it as the traction interlock never releases.

Luzern Sursee - A fix on this broke several services starting at Sursee causing you to become stuck at a red light. Some of them were then fixed (although it was never in any release notes) but not all of them. Because the this was never applied to the TSW2 version you can still play these services on TSW2.

DTG recently responded to my complaint that they are selling Rapid Transit with a broken train saying they still plan to fix it. But we’ve heard that before and to be honest I don’t really believe them.

Thanks! I've got both of those for TSW2, but I don't want to clog up my hard drive with two 100+ GB installations, so ideally I'd like to keep the better version of each route. I assume most of the time that will be the TSW3 version, but I have seen occasional mention of routes having problems in TSW3 that didn't exist in TSW2.

I would say It is speculation TSW 4 won't release until 2024 so I wouldn't expect anything what people say about any leaks that are true.

TSW4 is almost certainly going to be announced on Tuesday, and will be released in September. Not sure where you're getting 2024 from.

I believe Hamburg-Lubeck has less red light issues in TSW2, and maybe some other Routes as well. Features (not Routes) that work better in TSW2 are the medal displaying after every service, as well as the Mastery rewards. RailDriver also works better in TSW2.

Any evidence to support that other than past trends. If not I wouldn't sound so sure if I were you because you are really risking looking like a right fool if TSW4 is announced tomorrow.

I'll help everyone who claimed it was not going to be TSW4. It was supposed to be TSW3 but all the anticipation leading up to the event made them decide yesterday they were gonna call it TSW4. Everyone was right ;)

I'm so underwhelmed it's unbelievable regarding TSW 4, especially the base routes - there's hardly anything here that excites me, if at all being honest, compared to previous editions of TSW. Ironically, the Vectron and TOD 4-updated Riesa-Dresden is the most interesting...

Was really hoping route-wise and content that TSW 4 would offer something really interesting, but instead there's:

    - Voralberg: 44 miles potentially with just one EMU for the bulk of services; really hope there's a lot of extra content that can be used, so far they've mentioned the Vectron and in the stream I noticed a RABe 523, but really hoping there needs to be more. Was hoping a new Austrian route would be like one of the modern German routes in terms of lots of content and playability.

    - Antelope Valley: it's a long passenger route without tunnels which is great, but from what it seems there's very limited services and single track which makes me wonder what the long-term playability is - I'm thinking what about the LAMP system? Will LA actually be busy, or mainly empty? Where's the MP36H, surely can't be just the F125!

    - Peterborough-Doncaster: Very disappointing overall. Just 5 stations with mainly high-speed services; are these stations too going to all be mostly empty - well Peterborough will have the Class 700, yet ironically the /0 doesn't even serve here in real life as the Horsham services are all exclusively the /1. Really wanted ECML South, as the Azuma could have been complemented by the Class 700, 387 and so on. :|

If they actually did this I wouldn't be that suprised. I don't really care as I still get 3 routes for a good amount, but the launch is sort of underwhelming none the less.
