I was hoping for black pool north and south … that’s there then this little extension at the other end looks like added fun too.

looks impressive I’m surely gonna buy it

thanks for the reply, and look forward to seeing more details of this route as it gets closer to release!

love the sound of all this for sure, i'm not usually a big supporter of older-era routes (i only have tees valley in terms of routes set in the past) but this is definitely a day one purchase for me.. the route looks really interesting and diverse, and the class 142 is a really welcome addition to the game!

In 1986 I was bashing the summer specials, so this will be right up my street :)

The layer list is below. Essentially you'll lose around 15-20 services if you ONLY own the route itself. Most of the layers provide additional options for services, though there are a couple of examples that require layers such as the spoil train to Kirkham Tip, which utilises the 16t mineral wagons from Spirit of Steam.

Some services have the opportunity to spawn a whole load of locos, just like real life, particularly the "ADEX's" (Addiitonal Extras), some of these can spawn any of the following, if you own the stock, if you only own our route, you'll just get the 47:
    Class 31
    Class 40
    Class 45
    Class 47

I’m really happy to see this. It’s not a route that I know really well, but I’ve really enjoyed recent JT content in TSC so I’m excited to see what you’ve done.

To be honest you had me at Pacer, a horrible train to ride on in real life, but nevertheless a really important part of uk rail history.

Considering this route was marketed for tsw 3 originally and now being apart of the glorified pay wall for 'fixes' again, will be an easy pass

Or maybe the total dev time meant that it wasn't going to make it out before Tsw4's launch and therefore makes more sence for it to be a Tsw4 release instead of Tsw3.

As for the 'pay wall for fixes' remark, you clearly haven't taken note of the fact that most of the features we're getting are actually new.

Really excited for this, everything looks right up my street and the screenshots all look amazing.

quick question - is there any freight to Springfield power station?

on the contrary, I've taken note that, they won't work as intended, they will be 'broken', there will be no fixes, already owned dlc wont transfer properly and ultimatley will break and not work and it will be a case of "like it or lump it".

Ok, thank you very much although it’s the worlds smallest mistake, I heard you & the JT team did very well around 4 months of Progress!!

Same situation on Train Simulator Classic, what has been there for a while but never had a change.

I do find it funny that a bus on rails can be so popular. It doesn't look like a good train to ride on but I guess it would be fun for those that will get it

The "Micheline" are quite popular in France. Those were called like that because they had rubber tires from the "Michelin" manufacturer.[IMG]

Ah, there are trains in France that did use rubber tires. Another bus on rails. The French version of a pacer

From my perspective, the pacer just sounds like the biggest middle finger for people who live in the north. Whilst the south were getting better trains and railway improvements, the north gets a bus on wheels. Although there are those that do like this train. Perhaps the fact that it's a bus on rails makes it appealing for railfans, but honestly it looks like one of the worst trains in the U.K. I really don't get the appeal but then again I'm not a railfan.

If I had to take a train like that in the U.S, I think I'd rather take an actual bus.

I do hope Just Trains do well with this route

With all due respect, this is not a problem that should be laid at JT's door so can we just concentrate on discussing the Blackpool route?

Agree. I think the mods need to be quietly ushering dissent some people are showing towards TSW4 to a more appropriate thread.

I really like the looks of this route. Definitely welcome the pacer which although has received a lot of hate, I would still like to drive myself. A unique route with lots to do and a lot of layers with some really good modeling of the scenery and train. Definitely will have this lined up for purchase. Great work JT and I hope for the best

Where else to make that particular point than here, to the people it affects? I can’t think of a more appropriate thread for it.

i agree with your post.. and i live most of my life in northern england, the pacers were a part of everyday life, i don't get why so much hate towards it coming to tsw.. it's not real life it's all virtual, and it's fun to see it again in this way.

i think this route ticks so many boxes, and that's coming from someone who wouldn't usually buy older-era set routes (nothing against them btw, just i tend to prefer the modern era, but this route is definitely a day one purchase for me)

I am looking forward to doing a little bit of trainspotting from the interior of one of the enterable signal boxes. I cant wait to just watch the day's activities unfold as I stand in the signal box watching the passing action.

Quick question, since it was developed for TSW3, how much of a PITA would it be to release a TSW3 version? Or a basic tsw3-4 upgrade option with the route?

Local route for me although would prefer slightly later, even 1990s as 1986 was just a tad too early for me to remember but I have a nostalgic fondness for the pacer!

Unfortunatly not being released on TSW3 which is a shame (for me) as I was looking forward to it and TSW4 looks rather underwhelming at first glance.

So Pleasure Beach is represented? How accurately? Will its famous rollercoasters like the Grand National be included?

Quick question. Just wondering if the semaphore signalling is working realistically, regarding distants and their respective signals? Also, would there have there been some kind of approach control for the slow speed turnouts in this era?

I definitely won't be buying it if Rule 39A is not implemented. The whole concept of distant signals is incoherent without it.

The 8F is obviously a railtour. But the 40? Weren't they all retired by 1986?

Absolutely thrilled with this route announcement. Plenty to do, plenty to see and a beloved Pacer!!

I’ve recently signed 142’s with work so I’m looking forward to seeing how it compares in game. Looking forward to it!

different livery, different functionality, different class, different sounds, different interior, different operator, different cab.

it’s a new train just has similarities, same with the 375

This is looking fantastic, however, I am wondering, will AI Class 142s display their destination on the destination blind? In past routes, trains that operate using a destination blind (not a dot-matrix screen) have been bugged and AI trains will always have their destination empty. It would be great if this wasn’t the case for this route :)

part of a general issue with PIS, don’t the 375 have dot matrix ? and their all broken on SEHS so I don’t think it would make grand difference unless they’re generally working fine.

The 40s were all retired by January 1985, however one was retained for railtour use until 1988 and four more were reclassified as Class 97s and used for departmental work until 1987.

They were all withdrawn in 1986 apart from D200 (40122) but I suspect they are not to bothered by a year or so.

I wouldn’t but unfortunately I’m on XSX so unless that content becomes available in the future for console somehow I won’t benefit on that.

This looks very good from the screenshots given. One thing I am hoping is that the 47 included comes with a high-intensity
headlight. That would be the cherry on top of the cake for me

No timetabled freight at launch into there, if in future we did the suitable ICI tanks then there would be, but it's outside our scope right now.

Yep, this is a judged decision, the 40s still worked regularly into there until 1984, the route to Blackpool North is technically accurate for 1984 so they won't look out of place, and it gives people more fun and playability. Obviously they didn't rub shoulders with Pacer's but as I say, it was a judged decision to give people more fun.

This seems like a pretty reasonable decision, a lot of routes in TSW are similar where they are technically set in a year but may have things from a few years off to add playability (SEHS and the white 375s are a good example). I don't think it bugs too many people as long as its not a widely out of place era. And the easy solution for anyone that wouldn't like it is just temporarily uninstall the DLC that provides that layer.
