BNSF doesn’t run freight on that line, it’s UPRR (Union Pacific) who does. Any other change suggestions are welcome below!

They could do a gameplay pack where they reskin the mp36, give it a new horn/improved soundset maybe and reskinned passenger coaches

Yea is odd because I just played Pacific Surfliner on TSC and what I saw was UP around that area.

Do you think that the freight services will be playable? I understood Matt in that way. If they remove the BNSF stuff is there a risk for having this route completely without freight?

No, you would just replace it with UP power.

I am looking forward to this line as well. To properly deal with the grades on this line, the freight motive power should have something no single TSW North American modern freight loco currently has.

I speak of course of the as yet unachievable trifecta of proper modelling of dynamic brake physics, an initial air reduction of only 6 pounds, and an accelerometer.

I have a couple questions about this route, if anyone can help out.
    1. According to Metrolink's schedule, there are 12 trains each way daily on this line (24 total). Is that all the playable services we will be getting? Will there be any freight for us to operate on this line, or just layers?
    2. Will the Metrolink rolling stock layer onto the Cajon Pass route. I'm sure they wouldn't be drivable, but would they be there to add some variety to the scenery?

Freight is layered in so they use whatever physics that the default stock came with, not to mention there is no word if they are playable.

Free repaint? And what then to sell in new packs? No no no. New repaint pack for core routes will include MP36 with Bombardier Bilevels in Metrolink livery for 3.99(or whatever).

Looking at what potetial timetable we are looking at for this route.
So we are looking at 22 playable services on the Antelope line which if not broken up some would be 2 hours and 10 minutes long.
On the Ventura County line looking at 24 playable services to Burbank down town whic are around 20 minutes long.
As far as AI from all other branches I came up with the fllowing numbers below:

    Antelope Valley- 22 playable services
    San Bernandino- 36 AI
    Riverside-11 AI only
    Perrris Valley-12 AI only
    Orange County-20 Ai only
Ventura county- 24 Playable to Burbank-downtown
    Freight- around a dozen

Amtrak Surfliner-20 (not indluded on game)

Yeah not sure what the plan is looking like for this route, but there’s quite abit of single track running & an average speed of 35mph.

I’m thinking this will be a route people drive a couple of times & then abandon it.

I said it elsewhere, but if this is the scope they wanted, then they should of stuck with Amtrak and gave us a Genesis, at least that could of had some use on some of the freight routes.

One thing I'm wondering about the timetable is the new station and how that will effect it. 2 trains a day terminate at Via Princessa, the new station looking at Satalite images is just past it.

So will those trains terminate there now? Does Metrolink plan to increase services with the new station?

After so many years im still guessing if there was first the chicken or the egg. Anyway, Caterpillar was a wise choice.

I wish they would have mentioned what the freeight services would be. I'm actually more interested now that the NYT new timetable is confirmed for launch. I know that Blacknred81 your very familiar with freight . what are your thoughts on what we can expect as far as freight.

From what I've seen, probably a few incorrect Bnsf layers from Cajon. At least 4-6 trains.

I'm really hoping that was one of their "Work in Progress" pictures that is not actually going to be represented in the final product. I'm cautiously optimistic they were only using it as a placeholder of sorts lol. I don't know how they could mess that one up that bad when there are countless of us on the forums who would be happy to share some of our expertise with American content as they clearly lack some of that. I've offered this before but always been turned down lol

    Would
Would they do the entire line? I’m not familiar what the pattern could be

The freight traffic, if prototypically realistic, would consist of only a handful of intermodal trains that run north-south between LA and points north in Northern California, Oregon, and Washington. It really is a shame they did not include UP LATC because that intermodal facility is literally across the river from Union Station and would have been a great stop/start for those intermodal trains. I suppose they could have included it and are keeping it under wraps for now but I also feel like a UP locomotive would've been included in the route if that were the case and not just layered...shame.

Yeah, sadly LATC would of added some decent freight operations to the line, but it looks non existent...

Unfortunately, the poster says 13 stations, which implies no Ventura line. Which is a bummer, because I have family out that way and it would be fun to try to see their location with the free cam.

I'm a little worried that they may not have made the freight services playable which would be really tragic.

I do hope not - please rethink this one if so DTG.

It was kind of understandable for Cajon when TSW3 launched due to the save game being suspended but no earthly reason for that now. We have timetable runs on SF Corridor (all stations runs) that are nearly two hours as are many of the freight runs on SPG and Clinchfield. Artificially splitting the service will destroy the immersion, particularly if the glitch where returning to free roam and taking over Part 2, then saving and resuming loses the objective data hasn't been fixed.

I had mentioned that they were going to do that. to keep them 1 hour and 10 minutes each and to make it look like it has more services

Unfortunately It turnout like I had expected to make it look like more services would split it into two parts

Yes but as I noted if you then save that second service, when you next load the game the objective data (and clock) fails to initialise. Unless DTG have fixed it.

I'm glad they're split up. I still don't believe in the save system. It's never worked consistently for me.

My guess is those services would be classified under the Cab Car, and the services seen in that screen grab are those operated by the F125. Typically those are individually selectable on push pull operation routes.

Looking online, I have a further question that I hope more knowledgeable people can answer. Is the white livery or the silver livery the most up to date for the Rotems? I would guess the white since that is what is being provided and Metrolink most likely would want their current branding represented, but the silver seems to look much more modern and cleaner.

Silver ribbon is the most current scheme for Metrolink, the F125s and Rotems were delivered in that livery, and thier refurbished cab cars are being painted into that scheme. Everything else is older.

    Old scheme (Some Bi-Levels, MP36 and F59PH)

I appreciate the quick response. I understand silver is the most current and it appears that is the livery that will be in TSW 4, though I was confused because the screenshots look white in some lighting, including off the left of the screen on this very forum. That looks white to me.

For UP freight on Antelope Valley Line they need Sherman Hill Cane Creek and the GP38-2 from Caltrain route. To make the MP36 for Metrolink the solution is reskinning the Caltrain version to run here. In the future become the Toronto Oakville Sub GO transit Green version

I'm not gonna be too hopeful, but the old Saugus SP depot and SP Mogul M4 #1629 are located just off the mainline in Santa Clarita, but would be nice if they were modeled (As well as those Semaphores)

Slightly annoyed they wouldn't answer any questions about freight on the stream today!
