Personally I don't think TSW4 is justified for just the improvements alone especially since the route editor is pc only. But if there is even just one new route you like the price is fairly logical. One route costs £29.99. And TSW4 is £39.99, only a £10 increase for the new improvements. (And with the pre order discount the game is £31.99) If there is a route you like you pay £1.99 more for TSW4 than you would for the route anyway. If nothing appeals to you from the TSW4 lineup just DO NOT buy it. You can still enjoy tsw until you feel the 'upgrade' is necessary. I understand the complaints because the improvements are minor but price wise with a dlc you enjoy it's okay. Also to the people who spam about multiplayer they aren't ever gonna add it they already said it's too difficult.
Umm, no? And it has been said time and time again, the issue is now with the price/route ratio. The issue is the uneccessary paywall they set up. Personally I am not interested in any of the TSW4 routes. But let's say in the future a TSW4 route releases that actually interest me, I will be forced to buy TSW4 and all of the routes I don't need, because they have set up a paywall by re-releasing the same game I have already bought three times. Would have they remained at simply releasing DLC bundles like they've done with TSC, I could have skipped TSW2, TSW3 and TSW4 if the core routes don't interest me. But no, they have to re-release the same game every year to force you to pay for content you don't even need. This is nothing more than an anti-consumer cash grab.
THIS. Most of the people complaining about the game will most likely have already preordered or ordered the game
To be honest, those who are complaining yet continue buying it completely deserve this treatment. You keep buying garbage, you get garbage.
I do understand the issue and i felt the same with tsw3. Future tsw4 dlcs that you like are forcing you to pay the extra barrier of the game itself. I just feel dovetail are disconnecting from the communities concerns enough that I either buy the game and try and find the positives or just miss out and don't give them the money. Which not giving them the money will hurt them more than a forum post. But yes it is a cash grab I guess I'm just trying to pick it apart in a positive way if and only if you like 1 or more of the dlcs provided.
It's a fair price for the route pack, but i fail to see it moving the core of the game forward. Editor massively expands potential* for the PC version, while leaving consoles behind. I don't see how that's good for the franchise as a whole. *but also the potential for frustration- get ready to play "Missing dependency simulator- now with bonus duplicate content!" Overall a very mixed bag IMO.
DTG is effectively making people who don't purchase TSW4 suffer. If you don't buy TSW4 then you don't get continued support for TSW3 What if none of the new DLC appeal to me but a later DLC does? That means i have to buy the lowest TSW4 edition possible PLUS whichever DLC that was of interest. You're talking nearly £50, give or take, for me wanting that DLC. I will not be spending that much for one DLC. That's an absolutely shoddy business practice and a terrible way of doing things, especially in comparison to how TS Classic was rolled out with free core updates and DLC that wasn't being gatekeeped by paid core updates. I was sour when they did this going from TSW2 to TSW3 and here we are again, a year later, after them doing the same thing again...
At the end of the day they're a business who has thought it'll be best to release TSW4 and there is a reason they have done that that they only know and more or less help them with the game development. But they're not forcing anyone to buy their new game you either take it or leave it. Consumers choice.
I would say its because I feel let down by a brand i have invested money in through TS Classic with all the money i spent on their DLC prior. For them to change to such a cash grab/aggressive business model and keep doing this practise of asking me and other customers to fork out every year just so i can continue to receive updates and access to future DLC, either just say it how it is that they NEED this money or switch to something which makes more sense like a yearly pass/subscription or something. At this point it comes off as greedy.
I understand this sentiment but if TSW3 is anything to go by; a TSW Core + 1DLC bundle usually gets released when DLCs are launched which should make the upgrade path a little more reasonable. Wait for a DLC you are interested in to be released and see which bundles are offered including that DLC TSW3 also at one point offered a "upgrade bundle" (which we do not have for TSW4 yet) which makes the upgrade even cheaper.
Dude.. It is not hard to understand why people are upset. Many of the bugs DTG said they'd fix in TSW 1-3 have yet to be fixed. Promises for fixes get put to the wayside once a new core is released. There is too much butt-kissing from some of these extreme fan boys. We all love the sim but there's nothing wrong with acknowledging the faults of DTG and holding them accountable.
Mate, the experience will largely be the same. Sure we get an improved scenario and livery editor, Volumetric Fog, and some other bits and bobs but the experience will largely be the same especially if a player isn't interested in those things
Wrong. Why would I give a dime to a company that has a proven track record of putting out lies and in the past year, garbage content? Those that complain and buy have no morals. I tend to think that people here are smarter.
Excellent point!!! The Special upgrade where you get 4 routes is a huge bargain!! They are high quality routes.
List me ten bugs. Please. I know they fixed the Glasgow Edinburg where you couldn't get the collectable. It is fixed. The game is not broken.
Lol he say there are a lot of bug but the most people here on this forums has not playing in TSW 1 or 2020 there was so many bug on GWR,GWR now it's okay but thé timetable is stil bad and the NEC Lol he say there are a lot of bug but the most people here on this forums has not playing in TSW 1 or 2020 there was so many bug on GWR,GWR now it's okay but thé timetable is stil bad and the NEC
1. Passengers spawning on tracks 2. Trains forever stuck due to AI traffic or red light 3. AI trains still follow one another less than a car length apart on Metro North. Sometimes you'll see up to three trains back to back 4. M7A accelerates like a go-kart 5. ATC on the LIRR has been broken since TSW and has yet to be fixed 6. Damn near non-existent traffic on the LIRR. Literally the busiest commuter rail in the U.S. and the sim doesn't reflect that 7. ACSES/ATC is broken on Trenton 8. ACSES broken on Boston 9. Don't even get me started on the various bugs on Midland. The reviews speak for themselves (mostly negative on steam). 10. Headlight brightness on American locomotives are no where as bright as they should be
Midland Mainline? I have it and enjoy it all the time. I haven't seen any bugs apart from the passengers blocking the entrance door which is now fixed. Headlights I have raised it. We need patience. I am sure they are fixing these things as we speak. ACESE on Boston? I will take a look. To me it seems like you are totally fixated on bugs and if you experience one small flaw you get utterly frustrated. Sometimes I get stuck at red signals too. And no trains blocking. Yes it needs fixing but is it game breaking? I think everything is game breaking for you. The M7As have been raised in Technical reports? Or ticket submitted? If I have an issue I will raise a ticket and make a report in Tech report forum threads. What is your expectation for an issue to be fixed? One week? or 3 months?
I have read such comments so often the last few days. But where is it coming from? There were some bundles with the first few TSW3 (after the initial release) DLCs, but absolutely not all. There was no bundle for NID (obviously, because its third party), there was no bundle for BRO, LFR. Routes I would have been interested in. But no buy from me, because I first would have needed to buy TSW3 for these DLCs. There will propably be some packages with the first DTG DLC releases for TSW4, but definetly not all. And I bet there will be no starter pack for the new JT release.
You get bundles once a year at launch. People should know by now and we all knew TSW4 was coming Sep 23. It is an excellent way to get heaps of routes and to support the developers who need our support.
This years DLC, next years Abandonware. None of the DLC for TSW appeal, and if I wait for a DLC that does it'll have a shelf life of months before its abandoned in favour of the next incremental gain.. They dont need our support. You really think being employed at DTG is a job for life? They need to wake up and smell the coffee..
How about two years now? London Brighton still completely backs up with trains because of red light issues since it launched. Can’t exactly play a train simulator if the train is stuck forever. We were promised a fix after launch of Rush Hour. Nothing. We were promised a fix after we bought the upgrade to TSW3. Nothing. Now they’re promising us that it will never be fixed, but hey there! Come buy this new game that will for sure be supported by the developer for game breaking bugs! I’m sure you can trust them! Be grateful!!
DTG perform "fast fashion" chain store business, so I will treat their product as such, from now on Ill buying its content with every possible discount, knowing there is molecular product support and no will to improve things (NYT trains still drive with pantos down.... )
I only really want ECML and Flying Scotsman so happy to wait the extra 30 days to get the Centenary Bundle. I played FIFA constantly so traded in (remember compact discs) to get the new releases, looking back it was a lot of money but it was a hell of a ride at the time and enjoyable so now as someone in the mid 40’s I’m happy to wait to pick and choose
All of these issues have already been raised countless times. Some going back as far as three years now.. It's not "one small flaw" that many of us are frustrated with and I never even insinuated these bugs being "game breaking." Reread my original comment nice and slow so you can understand where our concerns lies. * Hint * it's the last sentence of my first paragraph.
Not bizzare at all, this exact thing happened last year, and some of the same people that complained got TSW3
Some paid for it tbf. I don’t have an issue with people not liking the game, but you can’t claim to say all these things about TSW, and still buying it. People that do that are contributing to the issue no?
I have been playing TSC since 2014 and all the people complaining here might be happier making a move to TSC to be honest. Old school players always knew what TSW was going to be and now alot of people are waking up to it.
I also don't get this influx of TSC users. I was under the impression TSW was frowned upon by TSC players. Now all of a sudden this game was supposed to be a TSC game? I don't get it. I do get that people like the TSC game but I really don't get the comparing to what TSC does.
That's the reason why they do this again this year.... it's true that there is a lot of complaints but the most will buy it anyway. If people in a larger group refuse DTG is force to change this way of selling and that's not the case if you see the same system as last year
I´ve owned TSW since the Sandpatch days and I´ve been using TSC since 2014. There is actually people who run both games.... allthough I have like 2500 hours in TSC (most beeing routebuilding) and 50 hours or so in TSW.
While console owners can't use the editor- which is not up to DTG - they will be able to use content made by PC owners.
There is a difference between "bug" and "route that isn't very good." LIRR's lame timetable is what it is: a design flaw, not a bug. Poor scenery is what it is: poor scenery. Not a bug. If you buy a Fiat Panda and the headlights don't work, you have a valid complaint. But you have no grounds for complaining that it doesn't accelerate like a Ferrari.
