Now that we officially know we are getting ECML with Azuma and Flying Scotsman, I would like to suggest a Legends pack to include... Mallard and sister LNER locomotives. Class 55 Deltic locomotives. Class 91/Mk4 sets.
Good idea, but the problem is that these trains were in use in different time periods. I'd keep the Class 91 and add a Class 43 instead, both in Intercity or/and LNER livery. Or do the Deltic with a 43.
I'd work it similar to GWR, old diesel legends, 55 & 43 and if there's other period appropriate layers from the pool of BR stock, throw in some of those. Do a rail tour with an A4 maybe 'Sir Nigel Gresley' as it did tours in the 70s. And not forgetting, I'd bring in the oxblood 91 sets, as an add on for the modern day.
The types I mentioned in the opening post are all icons of ECML and are absolute must haves. Those that don't agree have the choice to not purchase if these locomotives don't appeal to them. I am practically positive that a pack like this would sell fast.
They could be used on so many routes, similar to how the class 47 layers onto alot of british routes as railtours
I could see Class A4 Mallard coming into TSW like the Scotsman. The deltic I imagine would be with its own era appropriate route. then the 91 as either a loco add-on or a different section of the ECML. I’m definitely a fan of them all, particularly the 91.
A Class 47 (mixed traffic) and Class 37 (also mixed traffic) would be great for a 1970s-80s ECML DLC Pack along with the Class 55 Deltic.
The The thing is that the Class 47 was made for WSR and NTP. Making a Deltic or A4 just to do the same thing wouldn't be worth the effort, especially since they already have Flying Scotsman. Also which other routes would these trains even go on other than another ECML route?
True, but I doubt that it would be worth the effort to make a pack with 3 new locomotives, especially just for some railtours. It would make more sense to make them separately with their own routes.
Could be, but IMO it would be better if they at least set the new ECML route in it's time period and layer trains from routes like NTP.
