When People Complain About Bugs....

Discussion in 'TSW General Discussion' started by SD40Australia, Aug 25, 2023.

  1. Firstly I will say yes even small bugs need to be fixed but only within budget constraints.

I have just been cited the bugs on Long Island Railroad (I enjoy driving trains on it and never noticed or saw these alleged bugs before however they could be fact).

They seem very insignificant yet of course people want it fixed.

But please can I offer a little advice to those bent on trying to make Train Sim World look bad.

The less customers they get, the more bugs you will have to put up with.

The more customers they get the more ability (budget of course!) they will have to attend to these.

But to be honest they have fixed a lot of bugs. A lot!

Maybe there are still some outstanding.

    Put another ticket in.

    Please don't complain.

Please say you like the game first and recommend it to your friends.

    Otherwise why are you here?

I am comfortably happy on the LIRR and can complete my services. If I do see passengers on the tracks I'll let you know.

    Quote of the LIRR bugs

Want to talk about LIRR bugs?

    • Crossing gate audio gone since TSW2
    • LIRR M3 headlights not working prototypically
    • Platform stop markers at incorrect position on many places
    • Station light effects totally messed up since TSW2
    • Road traffic keeps glitching through terrain, scenery and floating in air since TSW3
    • Passengers walking onto the tracks in masses since TSW3
    • AI services can get stuck in busy custom scenarios
    • ATC is a buggy mess, not working prototypically (many issues at once)
These are all thatI could gather from memory in 5 minutes even though I not played that route for like a year now... How many could I list if I fired up the route again?

Only really the last two I'd even consider issues. Rest are just minor nitpicks.

Hey if anyone should complain about bugs it's you guys down under, but I don't hear you guys complain.

All we have are small bugs in Canada yours are huge, spiders, ants etc.

    LOL

At least if they are going to complain just post once and don't go on and on repeating the same complaint.

Strange thing is, I put off getting LIRR for ages due to all the adverse reports. Picked it up in the Humble Bundle and really been enjoying it, particularly running the older M3. I actually prefer it to Harlem.

So the route getting objectively worse and broken by updates is a minor nitpick - noted.

Would also like to know how are stopping markers being in the wrong place a minor nitpick, when stopping at the correct position is part of the train operation?

Looks like people here are satisfied just by seeing colorful trains moving, regardless of realism or accuracy. Boy, how low the bar is.

The more bugs they left - the less customers they will have. But fanboys will bring them money under any circumstances and with tears of joy to broadcast on the forum how cool everything is - that will make devs think they are on the right track.

I agree with with OP on this one - there is a lot of petty nit-picking going on. I came across one complaint that Sand Patch Grade is "unplayable" - because the door of Mance Post Office is the wrong colour. I don't know what colour the door of Mance Post Office should be, and if it is wrong then I don't care. Somebody else had noticed that passengers were only getting on to two of the three coaches in their train, but not the third coach. They claimed that this made the whole route "unplayable" and demanded an "urgent" fix.
I do have a little sympathy for the achievement collectors though. If there are (e.g.) 100 scenarios, and one is impossible, then it does not worry me, I just drive something else. But if there is an achievement for completing all 100 scenarios, then that one bugged scenario makes the achievement impossible. If the game is going to have achievements then they should all be possible.
DTG do need to prioritise their bug fixing. They should fix the most important bugs and ignore the nit-picking, and this does seem to be what they are trying to do.

Indeed, no one suggests for a moment there aren't issues that need sorting out - some long standing. I have been vocal myself about many of these and no doubt will in future. But the announcement of TSW4 seems to have started a cascade if not a frenzy of posts implying that DTG are the spawn of Satan! One decried the route building team as being "lazy" for building the ECML Peterborough to Doncaster section rather than further south. So their particular route desire didn't make it in the sim, justifies denigrating a team who have probably been putting 12 or 15 hour days into creating the project. I think not. I too would have liked a different selection of routes, but the ones we're getting are pretty darned good and I'm actually eagerly anticipating all of them. Speaking as a route builder in the other sims I know just how much work goes into producing a route to freeware standards let alone payware and I salute those with the stamina to do this for a living.

Those are all tiny issues. That do not affect the ability to play the game, the majority are visual. If you think those are big issues, you must never have actually played something buggy/rough before.

Bying MP36 DLC you will get only the playeble loco, cabcar doesn't have any layer. This is a minor flaw, noone care that they have not been able to fix this for 2 years. Just enjoy your half of the DLC.

The problem isn't small nitpicks, it's the big things like red light issues that result in an inability to complete many services.
Coupled with the fact that we need to wait months for fixes that are either done or close to completion.

This means that LRR had red light issues and missing water in the Rhine for about 2 months, I don't know if the freight red light on Kassel Würzburg is fixed yes but that is going since last September.
MP36 and cab car are another that takes 1+ year to fix...

I don't mind the minor stuff, but the bigger issues that take too long to fix or are not being fixed at all are what bothers me.

The LRR issue took two months to fix.
KWG I have no idea as I don't like freight on that route and haven't tried it in a while, but if it even is fixed it took 8+ months
MP36 has been broken one year minus 12 days and counting...
