appears that the 801 is substituting in for the Hull Trains 802 already in the timetable - see those services to/from Beverley and Hull. Good obseravation and catch by Mattwild55
That's very interesting, and a really good spot! I'd like dtg to show us the timetable soon (or even better i've always wanted actual timetables released for routes so we get a full picture of what is included).. while including the lines towards hull or harrogate may not be 100% accurate with a class 801, it will make the route and timetable feel more alive and busier.. and personally i prefer it that way
I suppose it makes sense. Hull Trains is owned by the same company as GWR, and if DTG are currently unable to reacquire that licence there's little to no chance of getting a Hull Trains licence. May as well replace them with LNER sets.
That's true. Either way including Hull Trains wouldn't add anything to this route apart from a new livery.
Are there less services on this part? Other than the EDN bount LNERs, there's only the odd Lumo and cross country right? obviously until you get to edinburgh and the North Berwick 385s, but I suspect they wouldn't do that branch so it'd only be driveable to whatever that station is?
I think Transpennine have some services that way nowadays. And there's still a healthy amount of services. LNER have a half hourly service in each direction and I'd hardly describe XC's hourly service as "just the odd service".
Yeah, transpennine, LUMO, LNER, cross country and you’d have a few Northern/Scotrail services at either end of the route. Realistic and plentiful if done right. Not that you’d get all licences/companies on release. Probably a few years off yet with a section of ECML now near released, will probably be a while before we get another section, unfortunately.
I think its good that we haven't got Lumo just yet. I would like to see the year of the route as if its 2019 we could have HSTs and 91s in the mix. Or whatever I'm happy but 2019 would be my pick.
I Mean Hull Trains Run Class 802 From Hull To Kings cross but stop at all stations Between Doncaster and Peterborough
They are yeah, they are ancient to be fair. But they are still around currently. And as the route is set this year, they will be able to add them as DLC if they so choose.
I hope they do an extension to Leeds, Skipton and Bradford bringing the Aire Valley route into play. Chance to do a class 333 and various freight. Wharfedale line to Ilkley and Worth Valley Railway aswell maybe?.
I can imagine a perfect gameplay add on to this route would be Doncaster to Leeds with the Class 91. They still run that way, so Leeds to Peterborough would be a great opportunity to really stretch it's legs. Not to mention the train would look absolutely gorgeous in the LNER swallow livery (is it controversial to say I prefer it to the original IC swallow livery?)
Ah that's a shame I haven't really looked into the route information much lol I just thought it's set in modern times. Oh well at least we can get the 91
Maybe a slightly better option would've been York to Newcastle? About 80 miles with 5 stations, same as this, which is long but not too long. Albeit the section from York to Darlington is dull but after that there are quite a few curves and the approach into Durham and Newcastle is nice, perhaps a TPE 802 as well to provid extra services. This would leave the 2 LNER trains an hour and 3 TPE trains every 2 hours, a voyager could also be nice but could've been too much of a stretch.
At the end of the day, everyone has their own preferred section of the ECML. Mine is Newcastle north to Berwick and Edinburgh, some wanted Kings Cross to Peterborough. But while initially unsure, certain I'm going to enjoy Peterborough to Doncaster - it does have a bit of curvature, some gradients and even a couple of tunnels.
Good choice Vern! Tbh, at this point at least we finally have a section of the ECML. It's better than none at all and it's actually a decent section they chose. And tbh, we'll probably all get our preferred section in future extensions to come...
i'm fortunate in that my preferred section of ecml is actually Peterborough to Doncaster, so i couldn't be happier! it's the first time in years playing tsw that a route i travel regularly and live close to is coming, so when this was announced on the stream i couldn't believe it, as i genuinely thought we were about to get kgx-peterborough
Good morning everyone, I would like to ask everyone to keep discussions and replies respectful and civil. I know emotions are riding hight right now, but insulting other members will not be tolerated. If you see such behaviour please don't reply, just report the post and let us handle it. Also just a quick note on this video, this is an early build of the game, so everything you see in there is still work in progress. So try and take everything with a grain of salt. All the best, Jan
and also to leeds as a little branch off from York. I personally think the route going all the way to Edinburgh is a bit too much? as much as how you can just. drive services that doesnt go the full way. i think just (peterbrough/london kings cross) doncaster to york or leeds is best or better. And i really do hope they make the class 91 and add it as a dlc.
It does! Class 800 cab first look!! by TSW Nathan posted Aug 23, 2023 at 8:49 PM See the screen bottom right
I wonder what sort of timetable they’ll be implementing - wether or not the non-stop services will be included or not. The hourly services from Newcastle until late evening are fliers after York, and services back up north to Scotland/Sunderland on the hour are fliers too. Just off the top of my head you’ve got 1E19 and 1N33 both of which do not call at any stations in between York and Kings Cross on weekdays. Is this being implemented in game? Like could you stand at Peterborough and see these fliers belting through at 110mph?
But aren't they first stop york? I've been on a few LNER trains that don't stop for the first 2 hours. So it'd have to be KGX to York and that just wouldn't be feasible
Shame. I love the voice on the LNER 800s. Much better than the one I'm used to on the GWR sets. When Edinburgh Glasgow released I remember thinking that this was the new norm, and that the game had actually evolved to include something great. Good to know it was probably just a one off...
No Peterborough to York, and you start the scenario outside Peterborough, like in TSC where you can start scenarios at portals
Yea, wish it wasn't. I do love the LNER announcements but even if announcements were included it probably wouldn't be the right voice just like in Edinburgh to Glasgow.
The biggest thing along this route that needs and should be in the games ass we know we get the class 66 is GBRF Its headquarters is at Peterborough yard it will ruining the realism if we juat keep get ews at least have a new freight livery and new version of a class 66 as I do know each owner has different specs
Trust me once train sim world have announced the route they will not change it that much which is disappointing. look at the midlands mainline all they needed to finish off that route would be to add the class 222 but they didn't.
