I hear you. But I posted earlier on the thread. There’s a total of 79 services. The Lancaster services are broken into 2 parts so you can probably do the math do what to expect
Antelope Valley- 22 playable services. ( this is before the Lancaster services being split into two parts)
    San Bernandino- 36 AI
    Riverside-11 AI only
    Perrris Valley-12 AI only
    Orange County-20 Ai only
Ventura county- 24 Playable to Burbank-downtown
Freight- I have no idea what they would do here.

Its not on the roadmap but Matt strongly alluded to it being "planned" on the stream today.

If you operate one of the Lancaster services and get to the end of Part 1, will it allow you to continue on the rest of the way without needing to exit and select Part 2? This really breaks the immersion and I have no idea why they didn't just make all of the services the entire length of the schedule. If not, I guess I'll be sticking to free roam and operating a schedule that way because I really don't like the idea of having to exit midway through the run.

Will there be a way to continue running further once you reach the end of Part 1 or will you be forced to exit and resume by selecting Part 2? Or once you arrive at the last station of Part 1 is it going to automatically bring up the end of scenario menu and leave you with no choice but to exit?

This is the first thing I've seen with the Metrolink route I really don't like. Just make the service the full route LA to Lancaster as one scenario. How hard is that? I guess one work around is to just run in free roam and pull up your own timetable and follow it that way.

You just click 'return to free roam' at the end of part 1, just like you already can with every other service in timetable mode, and that will let you play part 2 immediately after without returning to the menu.

When you finish part 1 you will get the score and medals screen. You can choose to continue playing in that screen and do part 2 without going to main menu, etc.

The reason to split it is because many players have trouble playing 2h without interruptions due to real life issues.

The only other question I have is if you choose to resume part 1 once you get to the end and have the scoring screen appear, are all the signals still going to work and will there be a timetable for the remaining portion (part 2 I assume) so I can continue the rest of the way to Lancaster?

My understanding of how the free roam will work in tsw4 is yes. The free roam will even let you set own path and signals/dispatcher will accommodate so I feel the signals would do same for just continuing on.

Yes, everything should work as usual. Of course, if you do something stupid like stopping all over the place to get collectibles and then finish 40 min late, you might have trouble with the dispatcher. But that is to be expected.

Here is a screenshot I was able to capture from the gamescon stream. It doesn't say where it will stop though

Based on the current timetable from Metrolink, AV201 doesn't have a stop/departure at 7:55am. And given AV205 takes 1hr 9mins to go to Via Princessa, I believe that means my prediction is correct, and that the stops are split at the Vista Canyon Station. Meaning its split between the mainly urban areas between LA and Vista Canyon, and the rural/mountain/desert section between Vista Canyon and Landcaster.

Yes, it already works that way with every other multi-part or follow-up service in the game, so I doubt it'll be any different for this iteration of TSW, unforseen bugs notwithstanding of course.

Just to be clear, I wasn't talking about the free roam mode that will come with TSW4. At the end of a timetable service there has always been the option to "return to free roam", aka continue on foot without returning to the main menu and if you're still seated when the end of service screen pops up you'll automatically take over the next service for that train if there is one, whether it be the continuation of the last service, or a return trip, depot move, etc.

That's right. I forgot about doing that on the CalTrain route. I often chose to resume the service at either San Jose or San Fransisco and it always let you continue running into a new service, if possible. Sometimes you'd get to San Fransisco and have to wait 20 minutes and then could return to San Jose.

I hope this is how it is with this route. Especially with resuming the service in Lancaster and then swapping ends to head back to Los Angeles as almost all the trains flip back to LA unless it's and evening train that would then go to the layover siding in Lancaster.
