Edinburgh to Dundee would be great but only if they did it with 27s.

Absolutely love this route, probably the most excited I've been for one in a long time (somehow even more than ECML!) Out of curiosity, was there a particular reason that you chose not to layer in the Regional Railways Class 150? You're already layering in wagons from that route and the livery was in use in the late 80s, were there just no Sprinters around Blackpool at that time?

I'd imagine that a big issue that prevents the 150 being layered elsewhere is that the destination board only has Cornish locations on it, and the train is full of Cornwall posters. Also, the livery it wears in WCL was introduced later. I believe they were in BR Provincial livery during the time this route is set.

I don't drive the 150 on WCL, but based on the accounts of others it sounds as if the physics still need a pretty major re-work as well. By the time they'd done all that they wouldn't be too far off having built a whole new unit.

Note that Skyhook (MML) and DTG (Glossop) have both released routes recently on which the 150 would have been entirely appropriate (and would have added a lot). Both chose not to use it. I suspect their reasons were similar.

    Uh... no?

the MML would of had a class 156 which has a LOT of diffrences to the 150, and it is true glossop could of benefited from a northern liveried 150 but I think DTG would of made that themselves.

You're probably right on MML - having checked it declares itself to be 2019, and while 150s were very common at Nottingham and Derby a few years before that, by 2019 I'd imagine they'd largely gone. They could have set it a few years earlier, as 150s, 158s and HSTs certainly ran together in that area for a number of years, but I agree having set it in 2019 a 150 wouldn't be strictly correct.

The 150/2 on WCL is Regional Railway. RR wouldn't exist until the early 1990s so this is the livery 150/2s carried in their early days. 19880218-Preston-150247.jpg

The MML is set in 2019, there hasn't been any 150s in service between Leicester/Derby and Nottingham for over a decade prior to that (The Northern 150s turn off soon after leaving Nottingham)

Ngl the WCL 150 is the one unit I won't touch with a barge pole. Which is a shame because the model looks good. Its just so painful to drive for me personally. :D

There are lots of great suggestions for BR Blue era routes starting to appear on this thread now. I've started a BR Blue era suggestions thread in the Suggestions section of the forum. It is here:

Cannot wait for this one question I have was the class 142 audio sourced from the pacer itself or did it come from Armstrong powerhouse?

Is the Class 47/4 included in this route, or do we need to also own NTP?

i don't own NTP myself.. although i'm happy either way as i'm mostly interested in the class 142!

From my understanding, 142, 47 and 08 comes with the route, the rest is extras from other addons, so the only layer from NTP is 45

thanks that sounds good then, i actually assumed we were only getting class 142 with the route, and everything else you would need to own other routes.. so including both class 47 and 08 is a nice surprise and bonus!

i would have been happy just getting the class 142, so these are a nice extra from my point of view

Yes, definitely a credit to JT. Hopefully we get more routes in the future like this and Riesa - Dresden where some content from other addons comes free instead of all layers, though some layers are fine imo

Out of interest, will the 142 have the original Leyland TL11 engine or retrofitted Cummins LTA10-R engine?

    I don’t believe they were re-engined until the 1990s

It'll have the original, though obviously with a soundset representative of the real one as we can't record the original setup. The plan is then to also have another version selectable in the timetable menu with the re-engined sounds/setup for those who prefer that, but that's not "locked in" at the moment.

Less technical question but I'm interested - how many of you are on the Just Trains team working on this route? I can't tell if there are 5 or 25 of you :)

Also, regarding the PIS, have you found a way to fix the issue with the similar-looking PIS used on TVL/WCL where early morning services seem to start appearing at the top of the board from the late afternoon onwards? Sorry if you don't understand what I mean, I'll try and find a screenshot if it's not clear.

    Cheers!

I’ve been thinking a bit about the Pacer and the possibility of it subbing onto Tees Valley…

The train would obviously fit on the route realistically (Matt even once revealed DTG was planning on developing it for TVL before the idea got scrapped), and I believe substitutions should work without issues because of the matching carriage count with the 101. One of the two engine variants should probably come close enough to the 101’s performance that keeping to the timetable shouldn’t be a huge issue for players and AI alike. However, if the timetable simulation doesn’t work for some reason, there’s still the option of only making it available to the players and not the AI. Which would be a huge shame, but still much better than nothing. To summarize, the substitution should work without too many hurdles or issues.
It would be amazing if you guys could talk to DTG about implementing the Pacer substitution into Tees Valley. This would be a great thing to add in the winter core update that’s on the roadmap, for example. The availability of the substitution would significantly increase the value of both routes, and we know that player and developers alike would love to see it happen, so it’s a win-win really.

Another thing is the PIS, which is why I’m bringing this up well before the release of the route and loco. In the screenshot, we can see working destination displays on the train. One question is whether these will automatically select a destination or allow the player to do so (this is inconsistent from route to route in TSW, so no way if knowing without developer confirmation). Regardless, I wanted to ask if the Tees Valley Line destinations could be added to the “pool” of destinations available on the Pacer’s destination displays. This way, we would have the ability to drive the Pacer 100% authentically on Tees Valley without those distracting blank destination boards we know well from many other substitutions (e.g. the 101 on West Cornwall). This would also be great for scenario planner and the new free roam / god mode feature even if the “official” substitution I mentioned above doesn’t end up happening (yet).

Hi Guys, not sure if this is a new thing, but when you search Tees valley line for a specific locomotive to run on timetabled services, the current timetable says original release timetable, why would it say that if there isn't plans for perhaps a new updated timetable? or has it always said that?

Seconding this - excellent, excellent suggestion. I've actually just picked up a couple of working timetables as I intend to create a new timetable for TVL based on real life when the editor arrives (assuming I can find the time and teach myself how to use the TT function, anyway).

Probably a daft question but here goes. As the 47 is included and NTP not required, does this mean that the 47 reskins we have for NTP won't appear in the JT route and we'll have to reskin the 47 for this route?

I think you may have misunderstood, yes I know the 47 is included within the route but what I was wondering is will the NTP 47 reskins we have appear in the JT route or is it a separate 47 for JT route only and will have to be reskinned for other liveries to appear.

This has been done along with destinations for Rivets West Cornwall because even if it's not implemented into service mode on them routes at least user created scenarios would have the correct destinations.

I did notice the other day that the SHG 158 on E-G also has scottish PIS loaded up. That was a nice and relatively unannounced addition too

Cool! Maybe it has the “intelligent PIS” that can load up any destination automatically? Or are the Scottish stations actually manually selectable?
