I agree bi-yearly is better but the routes do seem like there's something for most. So it's not like the route choices are like last year and weren't very good (SEHS arguably being the only good one but tbf I never touched cajon)

 

I would prefer annual route bundles but bi-annual version updates, like the cadence between TSW2 and 3 with RH inbetween.

 

At least in the Roadmap article Matt talks about driving a class 101 on Peak Forest, so I guess Free Roam will be available on all routes?
Could someone from DTG confirm this please?

 

I think that's implying a gameplay pack for Peak Forest.

 

Do ya think there might a little " celebratory " sale at launch time? There's a couple of older routes I could use to complete my collection.

The problem is tsw4 comes with old bugs: bullet can car, cc livery on freight cars etc. I would be more than happy to buy new old/bugs free game, but NO, it is the same broken game with some updates not necessarily justified next number, simple as that. For me, TSW4 is not a cash grab, it is fake hype about the same old wear off little/polished. product

All you talking about DLCs as a mandatory part of a game.

I have no interest in pre-installed routes AT ALL ))) . All I need is new Core features and content creation tools. That way TSW4 is more than worth money for me. I'll buy the cheapest version with minimal amount of routes - I don't like region and era that DTG offers me.

 

You may not like the regional bundles but it's the cheapest price (£29.99 or equivalent) with the minimum amount of routes (1) if you want the features and tools asap. I believe you don't need to install the route on your system if you change the DLC properties before installation. Otherwise just wait a few months for the first sale.

 

I guess using this new 'free roam' feature, I can at least bomb up and down the ECML with the ex Virgin liveried HST (off CC) and make it like an end of service railtour. It's been confirmed that you can operate free roam whilst in service mode, so a bit like Quick Drive on TSC where you effectively spawn in the middle of the timetable..

 

Darn, just got home after being away when the announcement was made Tuesday and Steam does not even have the deluxe or special editions available to preorder, just the regular one.

I have pre-ordered the deluxe edition for pc! But if you have only fun on 1 route you're a winner in the end..... 1 route is the price plus a little extra for the game features are the price of the deluxe edition. All other content is a free upgrade if you compare to the normal route price. So you never buy a bad product I believe.

 

Deluxe edition. As one of my favourite routes is being upgraded I definitely needed the Vectron. Early acces was also a bit of a motivator.

Sorry if someone has already talked about it - as there are so many comments - but I would like to know, if "passenger behavior", has been improved by DTG, about what is happening up today?.
I mean, you drive a train, so at departing station, you always have to open the doors, and "usually" most passenger leaves the train!
But must be the contrary. Train empty - or almost -, but must passengers boarding!.

Another issue is about "design of train deformation", when using the zoom view!?
I have reported about it some time ago, showing lot of images, manly for PS4 (at least the one I have).
This is a really bad effect, considering "quality visuals" are one of the main difference from this train simulator with others.

Other trains - newer ones also - does not have those mentioned shape deformations, and not performance issues appeared.

Hopes both issues be fixed on TSW4!

 

Due to I have PS4, which is getting "old" for this game - despite it is still compatible, but you do not have all the features - , I am thinking about purchasing a PS5.

So for the ones who have already done it, - or even if DTG wants to make some comments too - , I will appreciate them!
Is it an easy process?

Have you noticed a great difference on performance and visuals?

I believe using the same account on Play Store, there will be no problem, to change and get all the add-ons - lot of them! - I have purchased, I will have it there?

The Deluxe version

 

It's been a while since I played the PS4 version so it's difficult to compare performance, but if you are going from a base PS4 to a PS5 coupled to a 4K screen the visuals will be much better just from the resolution, although the trees still change their design just before you get to them and the shadow on the rails still pops in way too close to the train. I use the 4K mode, in terms of FPS my TV reports it typically runs in the mid 50s when using the outside camera, if you have a VRR display then it will run as smooth as if it was locked to 60 FPS although I do wish they would add 1440p or 1800p modes that got rid of the pop in I mentioned as it's the only thing that disappoints me in the presentation.

Any addons you purchased for PS4 will just work on the PS5, although the more addons you have the longer it takes to load the game, I'm at 2 minutes 36 seconds with all except 2 routes and the lastest loco livery pack owned and installed, but once in the game it all runs fine.

If you play other games the PS5 is a superb machine, you won't regret buying one.

 

In case anyone else than me cares for an answer to the question I posted here a while ago:
I opened a support ticket and asked there about it and got as answer "that the Intel Arc graphics card will not be officially supported in TSW 4".

 

...to answer you too! I got my PS5 at the end of February this year and really enjoy playing TSW3 (and soon TSW4) on it. On the subject of graphics, you have the same settings as on a PC on high settings or an Xbox Series X. It's clear that graphic settings like LOD (level of detail) and shadow drawing distance are DTG dictated to ensure uniform performance on all platforms. You can see that by the sometimes popping trees or vegetation assets in the distance. The frame rate can also sometimes stutter slightly, which happens in densely built scenery with a lot of train traffic. But that falls much less noticeably than on the PS4. For the most part, the framerate is buttery smooth. On PS5 you also have the option to switch between 1080p and 4K resolution.

Another great thing about the PS5 compared to the PS4 is the individual installation of DLCs. If the 825GB SSD memory is running low, you can easily uninstall a route, which was not possible on the PS4. Many PS5 veterans will surely remember "Addon Tetris" before the addon manager finally made its appearance.

I particularly like the fact that there is hardly any annoying fan noise anymore, thanks to a new liquid metal cooling system in combination with the fan. According to Sony, a new PS5 Slim will come onto the market this fall, which is said to have somewhat smaller dimensions and a removable UHD drive. In any case, due to the better availability of the console, many discount campaigns are also possible, which can push the purchase price down a bit. So now is the best time for a bargain!

 

I have one question that I DONT believe has been asked.
When we make scenarios in the pc editor, will the boards eg GWE detect our train and the AI we add or not ?

A very good question. I would like to say yes but thats not a 100% yes. Although I note that some (mostly UK routes for me) UK routes if you do a scenario in scenario creator thern the PIS boards do show the working. Not all of them do. I am trying to think of the routes that do. I think GWE is one of them. I will check.

Well obviously Phantom Liberty on the 26th, as you’ll have already been playing the Deluxe edition of TSW4 since the 21st.

 

Hopefully the 2.0 patch for Cyberpunk will include enough of the improvements that we don't need to buy the expansion until we run out of things to do. Nice that they give a 2.0 patch for free and don't lock it behind a paywall...

 

But Lies of P releases on the 19th... there's too many interesting games.

As to the Add-on Manager, it is a simply tool or it is a bit complicated?

How many DLC can you have at the same time?
Well... I believe it is more a DLC size you have installed than the quantity of them.

 

It's all invisible to the user, I have 192GB installed and it all works fine, just takes a long time to do the initial load into the game, which was happening before addons manager existed so not sure what causes it.
