If they do then you'd better be extra careful playing in VR :)

There aren’t many routes that would inspire me to buy on release day but this is shaping up to be one that does. Having the UK’s most rickety train visiting the absolute dump that was (probably still is) Blackpool in the late 20th century is going to be a fabulous experience in TSW4, if not that great in real life. I hope they get the right level of grime and despair and not have it too clean and happy. :D

If they include the improved track-shake mechanic, then you get the aiming problem.....

Rather like an experience I had recently using the washroom on an airplane during a brief bout of extreme turbulence. :D

Strange because back in the day I used to love visiting Blackpool (mainly for the old trams) but it's quite a few years since we were there. That was pretty grim, stayed in a not particularly cheap B&B, it stank of kitchen grease, the bed sagged in the middle (suspect it had seen a lot of, ahem, action) and just not very pleasant. At one time I even thought it might be nice to sell up down South and move there in retirement, but the wife vetoed that one - "Blackpool", she muttered, "What a poohole." Except she didn't use the adjective "poo". I guess there are probably some nice areas, maybe Kirkham or Poulton possibly even Cleveleys but I think visiting virtually will do for now.

If they can capture the look and feel of TVL/NTP it will be very appealing. But it's the locos and rolling stock that most interests me. Enough of those squeaky clean, plastic, garishly colored go- karts. Give me a dirty, creaking, shuddering diesel loco that takes more than a joystick to drive - in other words a real locomotive, and I'll be rolling in clover.

I must agree with her Vern, give me Skeggie every day, I'd even take Sunny Hunny over Blackpool. Saying that I can't wait to drive there in TSW in a good old dirty diesel.

I love Hunstanton, it's my local beach and I used to go there tons when younger (traffic through Lynn was an absolute nightmare when it was a nice day though).

Also we did have a static caravan at Skeggy for a while but eventually sold that.

I just relized making it backdacted means we cant have arguably a staple of the Blackpool Skyline - The pepsi max big one - Once the tallest coaster in the world and one of the first Arrow Hypers.

This route is amazing and I prefer this era but It is a slight shame.

An completely CRACKING route though - Wont be day 1 but probably will grab it when I inevitably need to pick it up.

I am in Lincolnshire but about halfway between Grantham and Peterborough and so I am 1 hour 30 from both Hunny and Skeggie but as a child always went to Skeggie so that's where we usually go now. I can't stand that big roundabout where you leave the A47 at Lynn. The amount of new 'naughty' words I have taught both children and grandchildren at that roundabout must be incredibly high. Sometimes I sound like a French poet the way I flow through them there. Another draw of Skeg for me though as I usually have fairly decent runs there and obviously (to try and vaguely keep on topic) I can drive into Stamford and from there go by train to Skeg if both ways are rammed.

At the time this route is set, did the Ormskirk branch have RETB/ Electric Token Block and if so, is this modelled?

Electric token or tokenless block? Would be great to see the former replicated in TSW someday, exchange tokens with an animated signaller (and check he has given you the correct one!

Or alternatively a train which whilst uncomfortable and basic in design kept the job going for decades (I have never had one outright fail on me while at work or as a passenger) goes to a seaside resort which still has very high numbers of visitors and did back in the 1980s. Yes both have negative points but it doesn't half sound like a pier end comedians script on here in places....

It's TCB Preston to Midge Hall, ETB Midge Hall to Rufford, one train with Staff Rufford to Ormksirk.

They were fairly reliable, problems tended to come trying to run coupled either with each other or the various Sprinter classes. I've reminisced before about the 03+25 Canton to Gloucester which used to convey 8 or 10 cars for the morning service, at least one of which was a Pacer. Not many shifts where it didn't grind to a halt with a brake application, needed to be split and recoupled, run forward with the EBS raised or out and out dump one or more of the sets in Lydney UGL.

    Thanks for the reply!
Only because I saw it listed as the signalling for the Omskirk branch and got curious.

I'll have to wait longer to get my RETB fix!

Thus looks like a British Niddertalbahn.

What I mean by that is it looks completely stunning. Guess it's just a case of seeing if sounds (which knowing JT are probably fabulous anyway). So yeah - massive props to JT for this.

I wonder if we’ll get an Easter egg relating to the long gone Blackpool Central. Granted it closed in 1964 but it’d be cool to see something.

If I had to sell a vital organ for something, it would be tempting to do so for this route.
If JT ever make a 1970s Newcastle-Edinburgh I would sell the lot!
(cue Monty Python’s The Meaning Of Life organ donation sketch)

I actually think this route will be the highlight of the start of the TSW4 era. Barring anything unforeseen, JT look to be filling the niche in the UK market that TSG do for Germany etc.

With the Pacer on board, next up they can do Newcastle to Carlisle in the same era!

JT did confirm there next project is BR era right?

I think anything is on the table I think. I'm honestly hoping for some southern BR to have a change from BR in the north but only time will tell.

I wonder if JT have any loco packs (i.e. not reskins) on their future radar?
I would gladly bear the love child of anyone willing to make a class 25/1 add-on for NTP with both cab variants, biological incompatibility and orientation notwithstanding! ;)

What makes me especially looking forward to this route is the player scenarios with the new formation designer & waypoint system.

Even for my self this route with freeroam is something i wanted a long time.

I’m with you on the class 25, though.

I think they are looking to stay in the BR era, that will depend on the end result being well received and selling well. DtG have said BR doesn't sell. I think they are overlooking transition eras such as the mid 80s were 1st Gen and 2nd Gen DMUs ran side by side. JT have stated that the 142 is to appeal to a bigger market which is fair enough that makes sense.

Dtg says many things when thr day is long.

Here we need to look close. They just made about 2 routes a long time ago, and literally none of them came up to its potential.

They made a nice bunch of cool br diesels and wagons. But those routes have no a.i traffic. Both tvl and ntp are very enjoyable in my opinion, but tvl needed the branch to bishop auckland, ntp called for the diversion to heally mills.

Than they choose to bring sos with no manual firing. It was ok and understandable. But now 1.5 years later its obvious and looks like abadoned. Tonns of tracks and research for not a single loco / wagon dlc.

Same with the nice peak forest, could have been better with the dmu services combined with all the steam.

No!, DTG isnt in s position to answer if classic / br / steam era routes are selling well. They were never at the point to get the maximum out of that. (Similar SEHS).

A new era has to grow with new stock etc, but abandon all the past effort doesent seem a good solution. They didnt even make the effort to make a few 4f services / shunting into crewe liverpool.

Currently i see Dtgs strategy isnt selling well. Nothing is lost, with tsw4 and preston blackpool they will get their surprise how a community can boost up a route with enough freedome.

The new features are well done for going with the upcoming release.

I have a hopeful thought that we might get an updated NTP or TVL using 142 and 150, 158, especially as JT have included destination displays for them?

I’m afraid you’re quite a few years out in regards to 150s working on regional services throughout the East Midlands. The latest the 150s would have worked in this area would have been towards the end of the Central Trains franchise, which was a whopping 16 years ago.

So no, it wouldn’t be appropriate to have the 150 feature on the MML. The only 150s you’d see around the East Midlands is the occasional Northern one, working the Leeds/Sheffield - Nottingham service. Even then, it would only be AI as it’d go straight into a portal after Nottingham station.

I don't think you fully understand what myself and JetWash, along with many others, have been pointing out for the past week. Our serious points of concern go beyond TSW4. For example, do you agree that its acceptable to make people buy TSW4 for access to fixes for purchased DLC? Rapid Transit, something that has cost some people minimum £24.99, has been broken for the entirety of TSW3 when it was released for TSW2 originally. The fix for that is claimed to be in TSW4, behind a paywall...

I am looking forward to seeing people play this, I have an uncle that lives on this route and i've been on it a fair few times when visiting. Will be cool to see how his local station looks.

So they have to stop the progression of the franchise/company just to get a few bug fixes onto a now obsolete edition?
I'm not sure if you're familiar with the industry but it's not exactly good with that kind of thing - not a chance that Dovetail can be the ones to break that mould.

Some members (the one you tagged, in particular) come across, to be incredibly blunt, as permanently-negative [ahem]s, who complain about everything. And often can't tolerate dissenting schools of thought.

I was skeptical about TSW4 when it was 'leaked' because I didn't want to pay £35> for a couple of minor features, routes that bare minimal interest (KWG was boring, CJP isn't my cuppa, and I already had SEHS. I settled for the Birmingham Edition, which was quite perfect) - and, as you argue now, paywalling.

Seeing what is on offer though has me quite thoroughly across the fence and on the positive side. Sometimes you have to just take positives with negatives. That's life.

Dovetail would be getting raked over the coals if train simming wasn't a niche within a niche.
