Yeah, we’re speculating that rivets upcoming stuff will be of the same quality as their previous stuff. Of course people won’t be excited about future stuff when the existing bits need work.
I think it's relevant to discuss Rivet's shortcomings while also considering what routes they might be making. It allows us to see what their strengths and weaknesses are and that could inform speculation.
My thoughts are maybe they'll try and reuse something? They could reuse the HST and the 158 and do a Scottish Highland Route. Any ideas?
Dundee to Aberdeen perhaps? About the right length, and the Azuma could layer onto it then (as an 800). Crucially though, they wouldn't have to make a new train, which often seems to be their shortcoming.
Yes do the slidy doors on the HST and jobs a gooden' as from there it is scenery, scenery, scenarios, services, scenery.
That would be the most disappointing place to start with the WCML. One of the most boring sections of the entire line, and you wouldn't even be able to drive the Pendolino on it (do Avanti even stop at Rugby?). Even if some did, the tiny number of services that DO call at both wouldn't justify making it, leaving just the 350. If they do eventually do the WCML, in my opinion the superior of the routes from London to Scotland, it needs to be a showstopper. Something like Preston to Carlisle, or Carlisle to Glasgow. Or if they want to include the 350, Euston to Milton Keynes is a much better choice than the Trent Valley.
Rivet did mention WCML might be easier for them because it's mostly scenary and not alot of stations. Then again, I wouldn't want them to touch the pendolino.
Yea. That shouldn't be too hard for them. But they'll have to give HST sliding doors as Matt said and record Deisel sounds for the 800. Plus each train would need a new livery and interior. The only thing that makes it easier for rivet is that they don't need to record the sounds (apart from the 800) and the base model is already there.
Giving the Mk3 coaches new doors, as well as new liveries and interiors is hardly a herculean effort compared to making a brand new train. As for the 800, well if they still can't get enough material for the diesel variant the route will still be fine without it. It's not as if LNER runs an intensive service that way.
Avanti services stop at rugby, and a few other stations on the WCML, and to be fair I do prefer other sections but any part of the west coast would be nice
After a big leak I just found out it's some sort of route with a 156. Or a Class 321. I'm 90% sure it's west highland line. Can't share the leak though incase post gets taken down/account removed. But this is big. You lot need to trust me on this. I'm just praying to God rivet don't do a Class 150 part 2.
Oh well, another potentially top draw route getting the Rivet treatment in that case. Mind you the West Highland in a 156 is not exactly spicy stuff
Assuming they (Rivet) get the scenery done well, this route would look brilliant especially with the new mountain terrain that Vorarlberg has.
Well thinking about the tsw4, if true we get a 156, this would be awsome. The 37 hauled services can be created with the new features. Rivet: dont screw this up
To be fair they have had a good run on the line serving it for 34 years. But they are about as interesting as watching magnolia dry in slow motion.
TBH I feel West Highland unlikely, unless they just did the Mallaig extension. South of Fort William, even in the Sprinter era you are still going to need to resource the overnight sleeper train which, depending on era, will need a 37/4, a 67, or those ghastly Class 73 conversions plus several types of Mark 3 vehicles including sleeping cars. Though it's not entirely beyond the realms of possibility they would just omit that as they did with the Night Riviera on WCL. Just wondering what suburban and local services around Glasgow and Edinburgh are still worked by 156's, as that might make more sense for a Rivet project.
Glasgow Central to East Kilbride services are worked by 156s, usually in pairs, and I've often seen six car sets. The other route they work is the GSW route to Carlisle.
Has anyone taken a moment to step and think about this? This supposed "leak" you found somewhere claims that there's either going to be a 156 or a 321 on a route for the West Highland Line??? A few alarm bells are ringing here... Something clearly does not add up... as you've either misread something or you're just spouting nonsense... Also 321s don't operate on the WHL nor do Scotrail *technically* have 321/4s, but rather 320/4s which I should also just point out. Whilst there's nothing to suggest that Rivet are not doing the West Highland Line because in truth you'd only need to model a 156 & nothing much else (not including the Caledonian Sleeper 73/9s 66/7 & or Mk3SLEPs or Mk5s), but with Rivet it could literally be anything at this point & TSW4 isn't even out yet to start with!
Perhaps not the route but I can say I have also seen something to support the rolling stock claims, though it will probably be the 320 if that's what scotrail have more of.
To be honest, the unimportant stuff they add is made by the art team. They don't work on sound or physics which is their main thing to focus on
They are still paying people to produce these gimmicks but then having poor physics and sounds. It could be argued that people paid to work on physics and sounds would be money better spent. Looking at the JT Blackpool product this looks the part and has interesting scope. I still stand by my words that the Rivet E and G lacks the scope of previous incarnations of the route and as a result I would want to be paid to have it.
The former sounds quite plausible. I believe Rivet had a hand in building Cathcart Circle so Glasgow Central. Is already in the game and the 314 can layer in as AI.
I'd have thought they would produce something more commuter based. The West Highland can't have 30000 services with the same train as most of these commuter routes have more trains an hour than the WHL does in a day....
I never said both trains were for the same route. It might not even be rivet that's working on these trains. You never know.
Based on the fact there is no P.I.S display on the front cab it's ethier that, yes it's a 320 they just haven't modelled it in yet or it's a 321 because they have detachable cab pis screens.
Maybe it's the Glasgow Southwestern Line from Glasgow to Kilmarnock with a branch to East Kilbride? The class 320 could be one of rivets gameplay packs and they could be adding that to Cathcart Circle as that train regularly operates on there!
Well whatever happens, given that there are no more UK routes releasing this year besides the two that have already been announced, it will likely be several months until we find out foe sure. (unless we get another Epic database leak)
Gameplay packs are basically what the 'new loco bundles' ans 'Wcl steam railtour pack' were, so this new gameplay is almost certainly not a class 320 or any new train unfortunately.
Yea, me neither until my friend pointed it out for me. Ethier way it probably doesn't matter as it's a mystery for now. We'll see what the leaks really mean soon hopefully...
From my side, if they are gonna mess up the signalling again ill give it a giant pass. Both Uk and especially the swiss route. Luzern Sursee is horrible for a No-Hud driver.
This is the approach before luzern with linespeed over the 60 km/h switch. "Distant Signals" broken, Mainsignals broken, also the Signal picture for 60kmh isnt showing anywhere...., just annoying with rivet sometimes. Seems they are way behind DTGs signalling. For Iow this might be average acceptable, but not for mainline routes with high speed. --> IOW 2022, most shunting signals at/into st.johns depot dont work because they try to show a yellow aspect which isnt possible (visible on the 2D map). Its either clear or stop. (Reported a long time ago, same with the mastery for iow 2022 which cant be activated)
Could this 'leak' be a 156 add on for MML? Seeing as that shares the 158s run? But also, I would LOVE a 156/153 bike-carrier for the WHL! Or even the 320 on a Glasgow suburban network. (Provided we got GC layers for CCL too)
