What Reason Do We Have To Believe That The Promised Updates For Tsw3 Will Come?

There is a chance you're being sarcastic so please don't take this as a direct reply to yourself, but I don't get a kick out of coming on here and making complaints.

It's obvious that there's a big split in opinions/takes etc and that's just life. Not once have I ever put down people for having a different view to me on here, I expect the same in return from others. This isn't some kind of exclusive space for people who only have positive things to say about the franchise, it's also a space for active discussion about all things TSW related and unfortunately that's going to include people who have (usually) constructively negative things to say that they don't like about the franchise. If people have a problem with the latter, unfortunately that's their own personal issue they need to address.

 

I don't want to have to complain, is the thing. I would really like it if TSW became the amazing train sim it could be.

 

And in all honesty it wouldn't take that much given where it is. If one by one all the most complained about issues were resolved then I think the market would be a monopoly. Tbh all its going to take is one good competitor product and life could get interesting at DTG. We haven't yet seen that (although we've seen some green shoots appear) and so while people continue to pump money into DTG there's no impetus for change.
I think there's two possible trajectories. A slow decline in units sold year on year until a baseline is reached of committed consumers who will buy any product from DTG alongside new entrants who have yet to become disenfranchised (literally), or a rapid decline if a rival product emerges. I suspect we're in the former situation at the moment and its that one that I'd be seeking to rectify as that would also defend against the latter. It would also feed into reputational repair and consolidation which in turn translates into brand loyalty.
I think a few people are genuinely confused and frustrated by the apparent short sightedness of the strategy. Perhaps its worked thus far and its easy to avoid looking at the cracks appearing in the ivory tower's foundations when you're in a flash headquarters building surrounded by branding materials, but the best rulers are the ones who have at least a modicum of paranoia in order to safeguard the longevity of their reign.

 

As you touched on without any competition DTG have no reason to change as they have the whole train sim market to themselves.

Decent competition would certainly create change but that is nowhere happening, especially on console.

 

They already saw a year over year increase in players with an associated decrease in revenues. Now without gamepass for TSW4 you'd think even the casual "oh what's this" player is now out therefore a decrease in player base (to a limited extent). Time will tell how tight a leash Focus keeps on this game. Lord knows their fishing game appears dead if the activity in that forum is any indicator.

 

Honestly DTG should go into partnership with 2K the masters of yearly scams. Match made in heaven.

 

Probably can say the same with EA.

Lol I honestly don’t know why they’re in this chat, community or play this game still. Imagine hating on something so bad, on a weekly basis whilst it never giving you the satisfaction you desire.

I am not sarcastic, just amazed by the negative vibe and personal attacks in this community. People are even naming Dove Tail members and insulting them.
Looks like too many people visiting this community do not have real responsibilities and priorities in life and therefore focus on this game too much.
The forum team is way too tolerant and should step in more, not just the game should be fun, also this community should be enjoyable to visit.

 

Maybe this will surprise you but even TSW 2 is using same game engine version (4.26) like TSW 3 and TSW 4 And we dont get any fixes for TSW 2 since TSW 3 release.

I've said it before but it needs saying again for those who keep on saying "if you dont like it dont play it"..

Imagine a delicious cake that's missing the cherry on top, maybe a bit of icing too. You really like the cake but the cherry and icing add to its already delicious flavour. You can complain and point out the missing cherry and icing in the hope you can get the situation improved, so you do exactly that.

Those saying if you don't enjoy dont play it are advocating turning down the whole delicious cake because of the missing cherry.

An odd position to take..

That's before we even begin to question the logic of telling people to leave the hobby we should be encouraging people to join.

Pointing out problems or opportunities for improvement does not in any reasonable assessment preclude one from continuing to enjoy that which one is seeking to improve.

 

There is difference between reasonably written posts, like yours above and some of the vitriol that has appeared over the last couple of weeks, including a few posts up, in this very thread. Some of these people surely can't be playing the game judging by their comments. DTG to their credit let a lot of things get said on here where other developers would have banned them by now. People can post what they want until DTG decide they have had enough but I think it is quite odd that there do seem to be a small minority revelling in misery on here. If I had had enough of TSW and decided their practices were too much for me to bare, I would log out and concentrate on something else.

Personally I disagree with DTG's decision and feel they should have offered the TSW4 core as a key update, they haven't for a reason, and I know not what it is, but clearly there is a valid reason for them to have offered it as a paid update. I don't agree with it, but for me I get enough enjoyment out of TSW and spend enough time on it, that for me it is worth spending, what is not a lot of money in the general scheme of things on the new version. The new routes also interest me. I also think that they should have released the TSW2 fixes, they haven't for some reason, maybe the felt it wasn't worth it in the end, maybe they feel there aren't enough people using TSW2 to warrant it, I understand the annoyance. Personally I don't understand why you would want to stick with TSW2, especially as there have been plenty of opportunities to purchase TSW3 cheaply, I guess some prefer the lighting.

There has however, been some unpleasantness towards those of us who are enjoying TSW and planning to buy the new version, over the last couple of weeks, including being told I was "mad". Whilst there are some who blindly support TSW there are also some who blindly criticise.

I do feel however that those who come on here and make personal attacks should really have a word with themselves as should those who support them. It is easy to think you are doing no harm when you are sat behind a keyboard.

As a general rule if I find myself writing "you" it's time to pause, go for a walk, and reflect on whether whatever I was about to write is adding to my net value in terms of my position and credibility, or detracting from it.

I think also the key distinction is whether or not the routes appeal, as well as how desperate you are for fixes that are unlikely to materialise anyway based on past history.

Either way, it's not worth losing heartbeats or increasing your blood pressure over.

 

Well exactly, it can't be pleasant to get angry over what is supposed to be entertainment, certainly to the extent you are angry enough to be unpleasant to people. Like you say, for me that would be a sure sign to step away.

There always seems to be so much drama on here, I thought a group of train enthusiasts would be more cirumspect, then again I have seen organists on forums get suprisingly angsty if they don't agree with something so anything is possible!

You like a delicious cake, but you fail to see the creamy goodness, that being TSW is a working game. It’s only the complainers that like to nit pick every single bloody thing about this game. The horn doesn’t sound right, The interior cab is wrong, the MCB button should be 2cm higher, That passenger is wearing a purple baseball cap, 1/2 second frame dip. We want perfect frame rate! I’ve seen some really ridiculous reasons for bashing this game let me tell you, but not one has stopped me enjoying this game.
The perfect game doesn’t exist. If that’s the bar you set yourself in life, then you’re going to be highly disappointed.

Could you on your side acknowledge, that other people are not satisfied with that? But they still want the cake to be amazing and with some adjustment could have been?

YOU like the game as it is. Some others like the game to, but are frustrated about certain aspects of it. Wether is technical, ethical or something else. Both of us have the right to express this. If you are frustrated with that, maybe you too should think about, wether contributing to the forum is the right thing to do.

Like you I've also just recently upgraded to Cake World 3 only to discover that's it's use by date is rapidly approaching. It'll soon go stale after that I expect.

I've not once attacked anyone personally whilst giving my critique about the franchise. Please narrow your accusations to actual individuals rather than tarring everyone who has a different opinion to you with the same brush.

I also kindly ask that you don't mock me or others by claiming we don't have real responsibilities in life - you're not in a position to start gatekeeping who is allowed to comment and post in the forums. These posts that are critical about the game are still relatively outnumbered and you have the higher power to not click on threads that are potentially going to be negative if that's a problem for you.

There's lots of great discussions surrounding the franchise and future DLC, one that I am excited for such as the Blackpool/Preston route by JT that got unveiled.

As I have said to others who have challenged me, this is a space for active discussion. Unfortunately there will be silly people who post immature, un-constructive, baseless threads and those deserve to be locked or intervened with.

If DTG were to start locking threads purely because they spoke negatively about a product, don't you think that's a little counter productive and extreme?
