Does The Vectron Have A Modeled Engine Room?

    I want to know if there's an engine room in the Vectron you can walk through, so I don't have to walk around the loco every time I want to change cabs. Many locos in TSW have no engine room except those who actually need it (e.g. DB's 182 because the entrance doors are not on the cab but in the middle)
    It's actually disappointing that so many locos like the 185 or 146 have no engine room to walk through, because sometimes you just need it I guess. It's missing realism

    Probably unlikely. From what I can tell, they only model what they absolutely have too (and not always then, either).

    Yeah it is sadly normal that the engine rooms are not modled

    Unless some of the PZB switches are in the engine room, the chances are incredibly slim we'll have it modeled sadly.
    It's the one thing I wish they would improve when making locos. I really like having the traversable engine rooms.

    I hope they modelled it, but I’m sure they didn’t.

    Even then they’re slim. Quite a few of the switches on the back panel of TSW’s 185 are actually in the engine room but were moved to the cabs for the sim.

    Like I'm honestly fine even if it's not super detailed, or textured amazingly. I just like walking through the engine room.
    It's one of the only negatives I have about the BR 101 for example.

    In the BR103 you can look through to the other cab, but not traverse as you hit the invisible wall. Which I never understood because PZB /LZB switches can be found only in one cab (2 IINM).

    DTG only had to
    - resize hitbox
    - make inside sound play on currently unaccessable location in engine room because with the mod that already resizes the hitbox you can hear the outside sound when you walk through the engine room

    Ah yes! A modelled engine room. People complain a lot about toilets but I care indeed more for the engine room

    U can walk through 187s so u can by way mentioning that i pray to everything the audio fixed i dont care anymore if its not right so whenever 187 spawns in i can drive it,to your point vectron im buzzing for it it looks the part and from brief stuff we have seen sounds the part aswell

    I believe it's electric only. the dual Vectron has a bit of a taller roof

    if they would add a flushing feature to it then that would be neat lmao. but I'd rather like to see some operated bord restaurants in ICEs and other trains that have these first before we get to the toilets

    Yes, it's the international multivoltage version which can run outside Germany/Austria (as, say, the 406 and the 185.5 can). But it's not a hybrid electro-diesel.

    Hybrid Electro diesel code e Has to be the DB Baureihe 248/249. 249 has a 363 coupler's mounted to the front in German they call Dual mode locomotives Zweikraftlok

    Multisystem (15 kV AC, 25 kV AC, 1.5 kV DC and 3 kV DC) electric. I don't know how much I can say but there's definitely a lot of complexity involved in this loco (in reality and TSW).

    and there IS an engine room however probably just not accessable in-game

    There is not ;) That would destroy the point of not making it in the first place (development time and impacted performance). I can't speak for DTG but my understanding (generally, not specific to the Vectron) for why locomotives don't have accessible machine rooms is that it's a lot of development time and polygons (performance) for something that is used maybe 5% of the time playing.

    The locomotives that have a machine room somewhat modelled are those where you enter through the machine room so it is unavoidable. But even then there are invisible walls to prevent the player from going back to areas that haven't been modelled with as high detail.

    Sure, they could make a low polygon/resolution machine room without the pipes/air equipment and fuses, but that would be very jarring compared to the highly detailed cabs. Something has to give.

    Note, this my own speculation. Also, none of this (if what I wrote was correctly) prevents 3rd party developers from implementing machine rooms, or DTG from changing their mind in the future.

    I see your point, but working compromises are already in the game. The perhaps “worst” examples are the 143 and 155, where the engine room is just non-see-through wire fence. Yes, it’s not accurate to what it actually looks like, but being able to walk through from cab to cab and have the switches in the correct position is more than worth it.

    We also have the Br 182 and Amtrak City Sprinter with to my mind excellent engine rooms. While I haven’t been in theirs, I’ve been in plenty of TRAXXs and Siemens engine rooms and TSW’s look really good all things considered. Of course there’s a lot of stuff missing when you know what to look for, but it works as a facsimile for immersion.

    It just feels so weird to climb down and up when changing cabs.

    But a working engine room could add more gameplay for advanced gameplay in the future. Or can't drivers fix anything IRL when something breaks down in the engine room?

    Depends on the loco. On older locos, you can theoretically do quite a bit on the move. On newer locos (especially 3-phase AC onwards), if it’s anything more than throwing a switch off and on or rebooting the loco, no dice.

    I don't disagree. I'd love if every locomotive came with an accessible machine room. I just tried to give my "educated guess" on why DTG doesn't implement it that often. If the omission means a lot to you, definitely make more noise about it (in a more general thread. I would be extremely surprised if the Vectron had such large art changes to it this late).

    I do accept the commercial arguments, however, as a compromise, I would certainly wish that the developers would adapt a model according to the expected game play. I don’t mind a non accessible engine room for a br101 as much as I hardly ever use it for shunting moves. The Vectron, on the other hand, will mainly be used for freight or special missions, where I would assume I will spend a lot of time shunting and changing cabs. For me it is part of immersion to be able to change cabs through the engine room.

    As I am always trying to push for more immersion and realism, I would hope this could be a compromise DTG could adopt for future builds.

    Nowadays not really...they are not allowed...drivers are not engineers anymore. It is less mechanical problems and more software reboots today.

    Well the main point for an engine room is to be able to change ends without leaving the loco. But this would just add to convenience. Besides that, I would love to see a working diesel in action, but I get it, that this is pretty difficult to do. So I really don't expect to have an engine room.

    Depending on the locomotive in question there's a few things that could be relevant to gameplay inside the machine room. The brake mode selector (G/P/R) is one of them. The Vectron has it in the machine room, I think most of the TRAXX locos do as well (iirc the BR101 actually has it on the backwall, so the in-game version is prototypical in this regard). Some locos also have the SIFA/LZB/PZB isolation switches inside the machine room. Vectron is one of them.

    To me, having these on the back wall in the cab isn't a huge issue, but of course if I could choose I'd rather have them in the machine room (if the given loco does IRL).

    I agree that the biggest impact is the convenience, and not to forget the immersion, of being able to walk through the machine room when switching cabs.

    I understand that you would be ok we less detail. But if they were modelled with low detail, the outcry about the “POOR” quality would be deafening.

    You are probably right with that, so I'm fine with the approach DTG takes on the engine room.

    But ...

    everytime I want to change ends, for example to flick a switch I've forgotten to flick, I hit that wall, have to leave the vehicle and enter it again, when IRL one just walks through the vehicle.

    I'd rather have a lower quality engine room, than a non existent one. The people that moan about poor quality can just not go in there, like you can't now.

  50. thats all good but come one we need the right sounds of the Talent 1 OBB we all pay top dollor and u think its okay to put German Talent 2 sounds on it no sorry this dont sit right
