I stumbled across an (german) interview on YT, at 5:15 he talks about future austrian content (new all austrian route in 6-8 months) and that there will be another route connecting germany and austria (with no further information about the release time and location). I think it is likely that it is one of the upcoming german routes on the roadmap. What do you think it will be? There are only a handful of connections between austria and germany (west to east): 1. Lindau - Bregenz 2. Garmisch-Partenkirchen (D) - Reutte (A) - Kempten (D) (Außerfernbahn) 3. (München-) Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Innsbruck (Karwendelbahn) 4. (München-) Rosenheim - Kufstein 5. (München-) Rosenheim - Salzburg 6. Mühldorf (Oberbay) - Simbach (Inn) - Braunau am Inn 7. Passau - Schärding (-Linz) 1. is already in the game. 2. Starting in germany, crossing through the austrian „Außerfern“ and back to germany. Sounds interesting, but i think it is unlikely. Only Garmisch to Steinach (Pfronten) is electrified. In Steinach everyone needs to change trains to go on to Kempten. If the DLC only contains a part of the route, Kempten -Steinach would be germany only, Steinach - Garmisch would be 15km germany and 30 km austria, thus should be considered an austrian route. 6. is very unlikely because the DLC is (most likely) a german route with a small (or at least smaller) section into Austria. All german trains start and terminate in Simbach, wouldn’t make sense to include the trip to Braunau. 7. also unlikely, same reasoning as 6. German trains terminate at Passau HBF (or go nonstop to Wels/Linz -> to long). That leaves us with 3, 4 and 5. 3. I would really love to see my hometown Innsbruck in the game. But… If it is Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Innsbruck, it would be 33km Austria, 23km Germany -> austrian route. It could be München (Munich) to Innsbruck, but that would be about 150km (~93mi). (But all of the necessary rolling stock would be in the game already. DB Talent 2, DB Doppelstockwagen, S- Bahn München BR423, ÖBB Talent). 4. and/or 5. I think these 2 routes are the mostly likely options, but they need new rolling stock and more importantly a new license: BRB (Bayrische Regiobahn) Rosenheim to Salzburg are 89km (~55mi) Rosenheim to Kufstein are 32km (~20mi) (to short, would definitely need to be München - Kufstein or maybe Salzburg - Rosenheim - Kufstein) [München to Rosenheim are 65km (~40mi)] Let me know what you think, and feel free to add or correct anything i‘ve missed.
Personally I would like to see Innsbruck - Garmisch - Kempten. IMHO one of the most scenic journeys in that part of Europe, outside of Switzerland. Yes you would not have a through service, trying to recall when I travelled over there in 1983. Think DB operated from Innsbruck to Reutte with electric loco hauling some tatty Silberlinge stock in Turquoise and Cream livery. Then a 628 DMU from Reutte to Kempten which was quite luxurious by (then) DB standards who generally only had hard plastic seats in second class.
If set in the present-day, some variation on Rosenheim-Kufstein is the most likely because the game's full panoply of IC's, ICE's and freight run there. All it needs is OBB Taurus stock- which would be easy enough to make.
The problem with that route is that there is almost no through run, except for a single pair of ICE-T sightseeing trains on the weekend. Otherwise OBB services all stop at Scharnitz, and almost all DB services at Seefeld ( a hadful of RE trains make the whole run).
How far would Salzburg to Rosenheim/Kufstein/Wörgl be? Provides a variety of services, possibly Westbahn DLC in the future too.
I personally hope for the section from Lustenau to St.Margreghen - Rorschach along the lake to Romanshorn and Kreuzlingen - Konstanz. On the swiss side there are a lot of DB 185 & 187. The 4024 even goes to st.margrethen.
I'd like Rosenheim-Kufstein (I mean a portion of about 100km between Munich and Innsbruck, like Munich Ost to Worgl). As a second choice I would opt for Rosenheim-Salzburg.
As far as i know there should be the RB6/S6 service (Werdenfelsbahn) München to Innsbruck. Don’t know the exact timetable, and at the moment there is a rail replacement service due to construction, so i cant find information on how often it runs (But i‘ve seen this service quite often at Innsbruck Hbf Platform 21, if i‘m not mistaken every 2h/each direction) But still, would be awesome if it turns out to be München to Innsbruck. Local S-Bahn Tirol S6 (Innsbruck to Scharnitz/Garmisch) services with the Talent 1, S-Bahn München S6 to Tutzing (BR423) , several RB and RE lines (DB Talent 2) between München and Garmisch aswell as the mentioned ICE run (probably with an ICE3 instead of the T)
Did you read the first post? The first post is very clear.... Austria -> Germany.... I have never read Switzerland right?! DTG Isn't active with this country.....
Mittenwaldbahn / Karwendelbahn is the most likely. It's very scenic, mostly single-track and a mix of passenger and freight traffic. EDIT: Check out this wonderful cab ride.
And 60-80kph the entire way through, which can get tedious. I do like using Salzburg or Innsbruck as Austrian hubs. My suggestion though: Regensburg-Linz via Passau.
One of the reasons why I didn't really like the TSC version of the Mittenwaldbahn. That, and the endless forests got boring pretty quickly too.
All that is to say, I think you’re right that it’s Mittenwaldbahn. The trick with cross-border routes is to have meaningful trackage on both sides of the border.
These two continue onwards as an Australian High Speed Line the first one is ÖBB Schnellfahrstrecke Kufstein Innsbruck for the second route it actually continues onwards to Wien Hbf passengers Wien Kledering for freight as Schnellfahrstrecke Salzburg Wien Westbahn. When it comes for freight services route 1 has to have freight run Rosenheim Innsbruck Hall in Tirol Marshaling yard while the Hauptstrecke München Rosenheim Salzburg needs freight to end at Salzburg Gnigl. You would need new dedicated locomotives for those yards Hall in Tirol Verschiebebahnhof ÖBB Baureihe 2070/1063 Salzburg Gnigl ÖBB Baureihe 1163/2070. If you have a German route owned you can actually substitute the Austrian shunters for the German versions 363 365 204 G6 thanks to PZB
The Austrian Taurus would simply be cloned from a rapid transit 182 in fact you should be doing it the other way around ÖBB Baureihe 1016/1116 being cloned to make RT KWG Vogelfluglinie Bahnstrecke Hamburg Lübeck Puttgarden MRCE 182
Usual pattern (IIRC) is: Regio 1tp2h Munich to Mittenwald 1tp2h Munich to Innsbruck 1tph Munich to Weilheim/Kochel (splits at Tutzing) OEBB 1tp2h Scharnitz to Innsbruck (OEBB) Munich S-Bahn (S6) 2tph (Ebersberg) - Munich - Starnberg - Tutzing 1tph (Ebersberg) - Munich - Starnberg Plus Seasonal ICEs
I’m assuming the route will be predominantly in Germany as Lukas pretty clearly stated the Austrian route on the roadmap will be fully in Austria with no border crossing. Thus, the border route has to be one of the German routes on the roadmap. I personally fancy Salzburg’s chances.
Speaking of Salzburg which one is it Rosenheim Salzburg or Schnellfahrstrecke Salzburg Linz Sankt Pölten Wien Westbahn
The new border route could be Rosenheim - Salzburg. The all austrian route in 6-8 months could be Salzburg - Linz or Linz - Wien (Salzburg to Wien would be 312km/194mi, don’t think thats feasible)
Thank you for telling me about that however for Westbahn Salzburg Linz or Linz Wien freight trains have their own dedicated endpoints Salzburg Gnigl Linz Verschiebebahnhof which is actually east of Linz main station. For Westbahn Linz Wien section Verschiebebahnhof Wien Kledering is your freight end point from Linz. All of these yards work on the Hump principle which means DTG must make 1163 Linz/Salzburg 1064 Vienna Here's a video on Hump operation Wien Kledering Salzburg Gnigl In addition to the hump yard 1163 must do ÖBB Nightjet shunting at Salzburg Hbf
Also, the Westbahn between Linz and Wien uses ETCS signalling system. We have a flawed version of that in the game, on Luzern Sursee, but it would need to be improved a lot before the Westbahn could be created accurately.
I personally would be turned off if we get another a-b. With Lichtenstein the Voralberg route takes place close to 4 countries. Its time to connect the routes (for example with the new voralberg route), rather to have a second route completetly somwhere else just a-b. SEHS can be called a "network".
The all Austrian route will probably be the Semmeringbahn as it is very common and a beautiful mountainous route you have to climb- something we haven’t seen so far!
If made in game my suggested route would look like this reskinned 182s which have flaws with Automatische Fahr und Bremssteuerung shutting down automatically when resumed from Save followed by Bahnstrecke Luzern Sursee Olten ETCS steep speed reduction
Having watched a cab ride on it yesterday, I think Rosenheim - Innsbruck could be pretty cool. After passing Kufstein, the route splits in two: the old route going through all the towns and villages provides a scenic ride, and the new (mostly underground) route provides high speed passenger and heavy freight services. Now the bad news is, the route uses ETCS level 2 and this cannot be done in TSW yet.
You need multiple versions for ÖBB Baureihe 1216 ÖBB Verkehrsrot 1216 025 Fastest locomotive 1216 012 Nightjet 1216 014-020 Railjet the list is at the German Wikipedia for 1216 special paint. 1216 012 runs Autoreisezug Hamburg Altona Innsbruck Hbf it's the one that's on KWG using Laaers 560s with HRR IC Coach 140 kmh speed. If added at least we are now able to run 160kmh sleepers. Also changes Vorarlberg Bahn the train simulator classic Three Country Corner route The ability to use Feldkirch Autoreisezug docks since trains from Graz Zürichsee NJ464/465 Lisinki EN40414/40415 Villach use the Ddm915. Innsbruck Hbf also has a Motorail Dock like Vorarlberg Bahn Feldkirch which means the tutorial must cover how to load cars onto them. Video Motorail Innsbruck Kufstein Rollende Landstraße terminal towards Italy which means loading lorry on trains
Months ago I predicted a Munich Garmisch route. Because in TSC there were 3 Munich routes. But there is an easter egg in Niddeltalbahn that a Black Forrest (or that German canton) has a route coming..... Wonder what that is. But definitely it seems Garmisch is on the way. I also predicted that Maria Pass or Donner Pass will be coming as the next US route. So that will be announced in 4-6 months.
Then it would be a prime opportunity to implement it. Could open the door for many more modern routes (like Erfurt-Bamberg) that are built only with ETCS without any light signals for miles.
I hoped the next border crossing Route would be something more interesting like Germany-France or something similiar. Whatever at least we get border crossings now
That route is actually comprised of two high-speed lines Schnellfahrstrecke Leipzig Erfurt & Schnellfahrstrecke Erfurt Bamberg the whole route is SFS Bamberg Erfurt Leipzig
Erfurt-Nuremberg would be one section with an intermediate stop in Bamberg. That would already be 180km but would offer some variety in the Nuremberg-Bamberg section. A deviation to Coburg could be included. The total length of Kassel-Würzburg is similar so that could be a realistic approach. Leipzig-Erfurt includes maybe a bit of S-Bahn traffic to Leipzig/Halle airport but not much. If Halle would also be included, that would be a probably around 130-135km and in the possible length. But it would be a simple A to B without much variety and almost no trains.
Spot on and regarding Leipzig-Erfurt it can be modified to merge with Rapid Transit forming Leipzig-Erfurt/Dessau via Halle route. The bonus is that the Traffic red 182 can run S5X trips via Leipzig Halle Airport. Remember SFS Leipzig Halle Erfurt opened on December 9th 2015
Just for anyone interested: We don’t have cantons in Germany - that’s a Swiss thing. We have Bundesländer (federal states). No harm done, just figured I’d point it out
I was going to say I wasn't correct but couldn't be bothered as I was tired. Thank you. I just did a little research now. UK has counties, France has Provences. And as you say Germany has states, Switzerland has cantons.
But not quite all the same. Bundesländer in Germany and Kantone in Switzerland are quasi-sovereign entities which comprise a federal union, like the USA. This is not the same as the UK, where counties are merely administrative divisions set up by the central government. And Länder are themselves divided into counties (Kreise) like US states)
Thanks for pointing that out. In the US counties allow voters to vote for the Sheriff. Not sure this is the same for all....
You are correct speaking of the Swiss Kantons license plates reflect that too SG St Gallen TI Tessin UR Uri.
