I've just spent a few nights in Newhaven, East Sussex exploring the local area including Eastbourne. I now can't wait to drive the TSW route East Coast Way again. Forget TSW4 and all the hype, I still think this is one of Dovetails finest routes. Enjoy.

Definitely agree that an extension to Hastings would make the route complete. I’d love for that to happen someday! DTG Matt what are the chances?

I definitely agree having completed the main journey and the 313 journey! Its a very local route to me which is another lure but its such a fun little route and the small amount of freight workings in Newhaven is a nice addition!

The ride out of Brighton station over the viaduct is superb.

  6. It's a great route. I've got some route learning notes I can share with you if you want. It'll be a couple of days though as I'm away from my pc atm.

  7. Yeah it's a great route for learning the 66 with the loading of ballast and easy to learn section up to Lewis.

I think it was TSW was it not? Plenty of amazing routes from those early days.

Im thinking NTP, TVL, SPG, RSN, GWE to name a few.

ECW is a great route however I don't play it very often at all due to the traction which I find incredibly dull and it hasn't got a cracking timetable to save it's grace like LBN.

I do enjoy making scenarios on it.

Unfortunately I won’t be getting TSW 4 anytime soon but the new scenario planner will be very useful on this route.
To do a return trip on the branch lines or using some of the sidings at Newhaven Marine for example will be really nice.

Tbh honest. The only reason I don't play it more is cause we don't have the updated class 377 on there. We don't have the new sounds and smart p.i.s. if they updated it to have that then I'd play it alot more. I don't disagree, it's a brilliant route. :)

I do like the route.. but i really think the eastern section of the route between lewes and eastbourne needs the timetable improving by adding the london-eastbourne trains.. as right now that section feels really empty.

also sometimes it would be nice to drive just this section, and not brighton.. if the london-eastbourne services were added i would definitely use this route more!

I don’t like this route as it is the one that started DTG’s south eastern modern 3rd rail frenzy.

It were good when it came out though I don’t even have it installed now.

You are absolutely correct! East Coastway released Dec. 2019. This site gives all the release dates so far: https://train-sim-world.fandom.com/wiki/Release_History_&_DLC

ECW is one of those routes that is good for a drive now and again or if it pops up in Quick Play but is frustrating in that it should have continued on to Hastings/Ore for a more complete experience. The Electrostars are pretty meh to drive along there (313 okay) and when I did one of the Class 700 scenarios from CC surprising how much more of the scenery you can admire. Well I guess we can’t really blame DTG for what the IRL operator runs, but it does make a difference to the entertainment value.

Again it’s there IRL so can’t be ignored, but the 10 MPH speed limit at Lewes is nearly as tedious as the same limit entering NYGC on Harlem… are we there yet, are we there yet etc., etc.

That's a nice section. I myself quite like the bit towards Newhaven. Love doing harbour shuttles in the early morning/evening.

It's a great route but I can't bring myself to play it with the old 377 sounds. The 313 isn't enough of an incentive.

    Prime example of DTG's laziness.

I'd like to see it remastered with updated vehicles, TOD4 / volumetric fog, new timetable and an extension to Ore (where it really should have gone from the start).

It's one of the hidden gems in the back catalogue but is showing its age rather a lot at this point.

ECW is special in the sense that it was the first real modern UK route. When it released I played it quite a lot & even a while after as it stood alone in its era for a while.

Its current state is abit of shame, it’s hard to justify playing that route when so many other UK DLC’s offer the same gameplay but to a better standard.

I really think this route deserves DTG going back to it & giving it a full SEHS style make over. Upgraded 377, push the length out to Hastings, liven up the route with a new timetable & the London bound in services from both ends, get GX added & get us some turbostar DLC to go alongside it.

East Coast way Needs an Upgrade,
    This is what players want:

    • Upgraded Class 377 with smart P.I.S and new sounds
    • London Commuter Services showing up and class 387 layers
    • Extension to Hastings & Ore
    • Tod4 lighting
    • Turbostar DLC
Please reply to this thread if there is any other (reasonable) requests for things that could be added with an ECW revamp.

+also the line from Lewes to Wivelsfield, since its a missing link which would connect up to the brighton mainline
