A few years ago I decided to ditch my desktop. I am only home only 4 or 5 months a year. So a laptop is more important. Current system is a rare (read $$$) small 14.5" i9 laptop with a real gaming videocard.

I can't game on a laptop. I hate them. Hate the flat, dead keyboards with no key travel. Hate the tiny screens. Hate touchpads of any kind. Hate the crippled performance. I just hate everything about them. I have one, which I use when I absolutely have to... resentfully.

  6. I doubt the button would have any useful functions in TS Classic, TSW or even any other games 'Full stop'! Not sure if you know about the golden rule, but mate seriously your flashy new laptop is useless without a numpad. A numpad is useful in TS Classic, TSW and millions of other games including 3d modelling applications and many more uses.. Without a numpad on my laptop, I just can't live without it!

    Edit: Sorry mate!!

  8. Fair enough mate ;)

I was just saying, I just couldn't live without the numpad! I did that once before and it was a nightmare playing MSTS back in the day without it, especially with MSTSbin allowing animated doors and more. Your old keyboard brings back memories HAHA :P

I have one.... 'End' is remapped as 'Pause/Break' and flashed into the keyboard's firmware. It would behave as pause no matter which machine it's plugged into. Proper keyboards have programmable firmware :)

Or that, yes, but that's not a proper pause... can't use it for screenshots obviously.

Not sure 12 months is old :) The only thing TSC needs on a regular basis is numpad enter, which I have, as it's mapped to another layer. This is QMK/VIA compatible keyboard that can be programmed with up to three separate layers. I have layer two mapped with all the necessary keys to use TSC. On layer 2, Numpad enter is it the pipe (\|) key just above the normal enter key.
100% keyboards are ugly, massive and waste of desk space. I also have a separate numpad if I need a full numpad for data entry etc. I can then put it away when I don't need it instead of having a massive keyboard taking up valuable mouse space on the desk.

Just for fun.... can anyone work out the relevance of the spider, octopus and the symbol on the escape key on this keycap set theme? There's no prize.. just for fun :) Everyone who visits asks... no one has guessed so far.

The only thing I ever used the numpad for in TS is the digital display in the Class 66 (can't for the life of me remember what it's called now), and that's not even game critical it's just there for immersion.

Some stuff such as one of the class 90 variants uses numpad enter for DSD cancellation.. which is a pain in the arse without one I have to admit. Even if you don't have a programmable keyboard, you can get a wireless numpad for £20... no need for a keyboard that takes up your whole desk.

LOL :) I play this computer game for fun. And I can assure you is great fun without a num pad. Never miss it for one second.

If it's the one I'm thinking of then there's a patch somewhere to standardise the controls.

    Haha.... Winner!
No... The theme is copper. Octopuses and spiders use copper to carry oxygen in their blood, and as a result have blue blood. The symbol is the alchemy symbol for copper.
