We all know by this point we only get 1 new train per route, primarily because of dev times and cost, so if we did get the 222, it would of meant no 158.
There is an 91 at crewe now, going under repaint. Its the Europhoenix reprinted into classic intercity. Agree a missed opportunity.
91s are extremely common on the ECML, even with the limited number of stock, why DTG didn’t include it in the base game is actually beyond me to be honest, DTG need to bring back the two loco route DLCs
I’ve seen a few comments about the 91s - typically there’s 5 sets in service any given day on stopper services and they’re on lease until 2025 so they could be included on this route. Of course it all boils down to wether or not DTG gets the opportunity to spend some time with one to model it/capture sounds etc.
Yeah time is running out definetly, not even sure the unit at crewe goes back into the mainline. Also possible it will remain there as static locomotive for the visitors.
i wish a charter company would operate one in a similar way to the midland pullman or the intercity friday charter that ran out of euston for a bit
Literally, I travel along the ECML almost everyday and I see these workhorses a LOT especially as of recently
This may sound reductionist, but the quality of this Route would literally determine whether I purchase TSW4 or not; since I have been a passenger on its full length in reality, but having no interest in the other two Routes or new features. Indeed I was uncertain about TSW3 at first until Birmingham Cross City, Niddertalbahn, and Peak Forest. Hopefully there will be enough good new Routes for TSW4, but for the moment I'm only interested in ECML.
Yes and it’s about time we get more mainline content since we have a lot of uk rolling stock as of now. We almost essentially have the whole GWR stock, we have a sizeable amount of ECML stock, we have more southern and southeastern stock. So I’m hoping we get more mainlines
I find it annoying that they put the ECML stream to the back of the list. Maybe their still working on a big feature for the route that hasn't been announced yet? You'd thought they'd want to do it first or at least with the other concidering they are a British games company. They have shoved core features live streams in between so that ecml is very last just before the tsw4 round up. Maybe it's just me but something is up with that...
I imagine it's just a case of something has to go first and something has to go last, and they've just put the ecml stream last.. or maybe they feel the ecml is the 'bigger pull' of the three (it is for me, but obviously everyone will have their own opinions) so having it just before release might create more hype for it as it's fresh in the mind.. i don't know i guess i wouldn't read too much into which order the streams are released.. although i would prefer to see it sooner as it's the route i'm looking forward to most!
I honestly kinda hope this is a TS classic situation with the Kings cross to Peterborough route then the separate route from Peterborough to York. I highly doubt it but if it makes them money it'll make them money
It’s quite common for them to put the British content last, I suppose it’s to build up hype? Especially since us brits are probably the largest player group and if there’s any route they’ll wanna make the best impression with it’ll be ECML, making sure that stream of all of them goes the smoothest will be the biggest job as I have no doubt that stream will have the most viewers watching.
I think they said it was that they was still a little bit of work to do with the route and the other two were more or less finished so they put it to the last route to be shown. Nothing more. Think they mentioned it in the Antelope Valley preview. After the 30 minute mark. Hentis
a few more images, I must say the azuma looks gorgeous. I’m looking forward to spending time on the ECML
Something I noticed was that unit was numbered 801 2xx however it looked to be two separate 5 car units which should have been 801 1xx. Apart from that it certainly does look good overall. I didn't expect the chef's quarters to be modelled to be completely honest.
As someone who works on the Azuma, yeah they’ve nailed the interior! Can you walk through into the kitchen area? Have they modelled the cafe bar area? Edit. Just saw the stream. The kitchen is there! My only issue is that the fire door between the vestibule and kitchen is closed. That doesn’t happen in day to day use.
Doncaster looks really good from those photos.. even down to the frenchgate multi storey car park in the distance! really liking what i'm seeing so far..
The only thing standing out to me is the old LNER building to the side of the station in the second screenshot. Totally wrong colour and windows are all wrong too. Other than that it’s looking spot on.
The route in general i have very high expectations, I hope DTG manage to nail it. Because if they do it would be an instant classic, along with if it gets extended southward
I think in my mind that is one thing tsw is missing, everything looks so clean and new when tracks/lineside/stations are now mostly run down
I agree. Just Trains have applied ageing, wear, clutter and dirt to their Blackpool - Preston - Ormskirk route and the screenshots look much more realistic as a result. DTG did it well with NTP, but in recent years they’ve reverted to everything being pristine, sadly.
Just did! Looks brilliant! Love the DAS screen. Also got a sneak peak at the P.I.S. The horn sounds amazing! Love it all! I can't wait for the stream!!
Simple answer to this - when we created our stream structure it was significantly prior to the announcement, and so we had to build it with what content was in the best state and ready at the time of planning. ECML needed more time with both the Azuma and Scotsman, and on the opposite end of the scale Vorarlberg was completed first so that is primarily how we determined the order.
Good eye. Also the unit number I saw (801 234) doesn't actually exist in real life. And if you look closely, there are 3 different 801s in the video (2 coupled together and one on the other platform) and they all seem to be numbered 801 234. 801 unit numbers are (as far as I know): /1 - 801101–801112 /2 - 801201–801230 Hopefully that number is just some kinda placeholder on that build and that the real numbers will be plugged in for release. We will have to keep an eye out on next weeks stream .
Yes I suspect it's just a placeholder as they did say there was a bit more work needed done on the route before release and that's why it's near the end of the stream schedule.
Ah I couldn't make out the last two numbers, an even better eye than me! Yes those numbers sound about right to me I certainly haven't had an 801 231 or above from what I remember, though remembering numbers isn't my strong point. Again I didn't catch the numbers of the other 801s so another good spot from you mate! Not a game breaker as I clearly don't take notice of the numbers in real life. If this is the biggest issue that would be a good thing.
Thats what I figured, especially considering the number basically comes out as 1234. And I am happy to have a chance to see the train so I am glad they showed it either way!
Why on earth would it be a licence issue???? Probs they just didn't know specifically wich bits of the line had weathering and they didn't want to get anything wrong and annoy the local fan base.
The train itself could be a licence issue. I believe some TOC’s want their trains represented as new.
You give your license to someone to produce digital versions of your IP. The person takes said license and produces your IP, only shows it as dirty and uncared for. You take your license away because that’s not how you want your IP to be represented.
It'll probably be like 2019+. They probably won't give an exact date for the route itself. The timetable I think is like modern day 2023 with hull trains services operated by LNER instead.
