Ok this may just be me here or platforms 5 and 6 at Preston station are not long enough. I mean this route is set in 1986 so they might have not been that long back then, what I am thinking right now is modern day. Platform 5 starts from the north end to the 3rd end pole southbound of Preston, platform 6 is from the north end of again alongside platform 5 but this time is last up to the very 1st pole southbound of Preston station. If you look on the internet about Preston Station you can see on one of the images that how long the platforms are and I can see that platforms 5 and 6 same length together next to the least used platform of Preston station. I mean it was like that when they had the LYR junctions eastbound of the station (what have closed/taken down now) and I don’t know how long it took to extended them after the eastbound lines closed. Preston Station actually looks similar now back to when it was in the 80s which includes roofs, bricks and platforms. And that doesn’t look like it is got changed straight after the closure of the LYR eastbound lines /platforms. Unless they been extended platforms 5 and 6 up to them poles southbound of Preston station up until the 90s or 2000s maybe I just don’t really know. Let me know what you think, thanks.

They were extended to take pendolinos in the 2000s. A lot of platform extensions (and shortening in some places) have been done since 1986. Those platforms at Preston used to ha e Pendolinos stabled overnight (water tank hosed existed) doesn't happen now as our super efficient environmental friendly dynamic railway sends them to Manchester to Liverpool or elsewhere for water etc I think.
