The game really needs a “wind time forward” option for these kind of situations. Sometimes sims can go too far in their quest for authenticity….
there's a way but it's sadly not available on console: use the godmode mod, then open the console in-game, enter "slomo NUM" and put a number in NUM. 1 is default, higher number is faster and lower number is slower
