scottish trans-pennine would go from lancaster to carlisle stopping at oxenholme lake district and penrith
using the class CAF 397 Civity high speed train

 

Oxenholme and Carlisle are in England… What I think you mean is the section of the WCML that skirts the Lake District through Cumbria?

A better name for this would be WCML over shap

 

Which is done very nicely in TSC and you get a traditional AC electric to drive.

 

It's on the Scottish Route of TPE (Liverpool/Manchester - Glasgow/Edinburgh).

 

True but the suggested section wouldn't leave England. But Liverpool/Manchester-Glasgow is something I'd love to see!
