You got the wrong one. The one in question is from the old BNSF SD40 pack. I believe the title is "Green Weenies". I did run "Veg Out" and I believe it completed successfully, but a bug with the car type on the player train (same one as the introduction for Sherman Hill) led to the cars mysteriously becoming disconnected on my first attempt, leaving said cars miles up the track and causing a task failure upon arrival. I also have the Santa Fe scenarios "Boxcar Shunt" and "Running Slow", which I believe have no issues. Those are 24060 and 24057 respectively. I actually have the 24051 ones too and can confirm four Castle Rock scenarios. One more note on Green Weenies: a waypoint change caused a train that refused to operate on my initial attempt to run and I competed it, so I think the dispatcher updates since the scenario's creation plagued that scenario. I believe AI trains did not operate correctly elsewhere. On an unrelated note, I attempted an RSDL 08 scenario using the one currently available and found out that an AI train tries running the Newcastle Loop BACKWARDS. I have a fix to test for this, but it's still quite comical that this caused an AI collision.
Not the wrong one, but another one Just about to finish the remake... some stuff was very odd in the scenario.
Send me a DM sometime, I forgot your Discord ID. Probably best we let this thread get back on track (no pun intended).
Reminds me of a quirk that I struggled with years ago. There is a BR 52 scenario on Hagen-Siegen, which starts in a siding, you're to cross the main to pick up your train. Given a Y move the switches don't align at first, and I recall I am supposed to wait for an AI to pass. Anyway, first attempt, the scenario ran just fine. I tried to replay, and it never worked again. 2016/2017. (There are also glaring timetable issues.) On top of the objective pathing problems their may be some instability in the system.
That is "Historic Freight Train" - a good scenario featuring AI action along the whole line. But it definitely does not work as intended, considering the age (Ruhr Sieg is the very first german Kuju RailSimulator route), I'm forgiving, but also intend to rebuild that one from scratch. After you've coupled up, you need to set the points (all four of that crossover) multiple times for the engine to recognize the path - it works but you have to wait for 10 minutes or so to get a HP2 signal and move on. You can finish the scenario (although some stops which were intended for AI to overtake you make no sense as that train already has passed you before), but there is another bug with the shunter that you see at the very start of scenario. It needs to uncouple from the tankers, and when doing so, there's an 80:20 chance it will end up as a zigzagging ghost loco (also visible on the map) which will crash the scenario half an hour later. This can even be replicated by creating a new scenario and just cloning that service - best to have it just stop at the siding. Fun fact: The billboards (Gasthäuser, Reifen, etc...) have survived all these years and are even being used in TSW! Cyclone No Discord. But what about we create our own thread where users can submit broken official scenarios and we'll fix them?
... now I am seeing a similarity between "Historic Freight Train" and Cajon's "Just Passing Through". Both rely on timings for passing services. JPR tells you to arrive at Devore no later than 9:40, else another train would take your slot. (not possible imho. The dispatcher must definitely know who's first at the start of the scenario. So I'll have that train in the hole for you anyway - and as it is of priority "Low Speed Freight" it won't enter the mainline before you anyway. So rebuilding the scenario is more about finding out what the author had intended.) I think, there was initially some kind of flexibility in routing in the dispatcher code of RailSimulator/RailWorks. Afaik there is no way your driving influences the order of trains moving (other than SPADding, which can mess everything up anyway). If a train in front of you running in the same direction and it's in the hole it will wait forever and only starts moving by the time you have passed it - and regardless of WHEN you actually pass it. That must of been different in RS/RW - this would explain the defunct scenarios! As in Ruhr-Sieg, you are now waiting for minutes to get onto the mainline, whereas in RS/RW that IC/IR or RE (not sure) would just let you go first and pass you later on in the scenario - I think I've seen a vintage Youtube video of that one.
What is the purpose of that post please? It's a scenario on BE, so what are you trying to achieve by stalking Cyclone and picking apart everything he's saying? smh
Final checks... working, just need to add the static stock then I'll upload it to WS. Switched to 3D weather, as the original Cajon sky is horrible, buggy (no sun on 2nd run) and distance gets pitch black, and "10. Hazy" only looks correct without Dynamic Lighting - as this will turn the distance fog blending to white instead of black. Had to move one service from the UP track onto the BNSF track passing you after start, as the UP track is not split into signal blocks and another train coming up later occupies it already (dispatcher was less picky in RS it seems). You'd only see that service in the distance anyway in the original, if at all.
It is a scenario on Bristol to Exeter that came with the Voyager Advanced. I said I “found a JT scenario broken on Bristol to Exeter”. That does not imply it came with the route itself. Stop trying to brain wipe me please. This is not “nice”. I already mentioned it to Thomas and will be taking a look at it. I forgot my computer cord when I left the house, so it will be a few days at least.
you said originally you found a scenario broken on jt Bristol to Exeter you did NOT say it was a voyager scenario until a few posts later AFTER I replied to your first comment.
[EDIT - Jan - Antagonizing]. I have also reported you and called for your banishment from this forum.
Getting back on topic, I like this idea, I have an edited timetable version of an ECMLS scenario featuring the AP 365 instead of the stock one that would fit nicely in there.
You could block him too and then you wouldn't see his posts which clearly rankle you for some reason!
Hello everyone, I would like to remind everyone to keep the discussions on track and civil. Additionally, I have contacted and warned some members privately to not derail this thread any further. Should you notice future bad behaviour I would like to ask you to not engage and instead report said potential post. All the best, Jan
TSC is so rich with content that even if, like me, you spend a lot of time in TSW it is impossible not to come back and have a session or three enjoying it. Steam traction in particular is far more fulfilling, even the older very basic stuff and the more contemporary offerings from the likes of Bossman, Victory and Caledonia are superb. Matrix coaches allow you to hook up some vintage consists and unlike TSW you can actually put a catering car in the formation. There are routes and countries in TSC we are unlikely to ever see in TSW - what’s the chance of Taurus Mountain, the Shasta route, New Zealand Midland Line or closer to home the Stainmore Line ever appearing in TSW? Very unlikely. The only drawback to TSC as noted is the lack of the more comprehensive Timetable mode and it’s unlikely DTG will change this in direct competition to their newer product, even if technically possible.
I find good scenarios and the QuickDrive to be more satisfying than doing the same timetable A-B services over and over again. Zusi3 is different, as you have the Chaos factor and multiple timetables from different eras to play.
I do think one of the biggest boons of TSW is the timetable mode, I never really played the default scenarios in TSC and eventually got tired of making my own. There are some excellent creations out there but sometimes having to chase around for reskins or other downloads feels laborious. However, having uninstalled TSC I recently reinstalled it and decided I was going to concentrate on one route and era and try and make a full timetable for it, ala TSW. I have been recreating the 1995 WTT on the North Wales coast line, which means you can use lots of the AP add-ons. So far I have got to late morning, it has took two months! It is interesting working out the various train movements and in the end I suspect I will have around 80 scenarios.
One of your options is to make it a free roam so you can pick any train, unless you find it easier to have that many variants with a different player train. Assuming it handles that much AI. You can still opt to have a few clones with starting locations.
Not talking about default scenarios, but Workshop is where the real artists are. Coasty and Not.Silent, just to name two of the most talented scenario authors. You'll never see such busy railroads in TSW.
I agree there are some excellent creations out there both on the workshop and many of the third party sites.
As I've mentioned previously, if you're looking for a Timetable mode-like feature within TSC, consider joining ThirdRails. Within ThirdRails, you have the ability to select a real-time timetable from established providers such as RTT or DB. You can use this timetable to operate the service, using ThirdRails own HUD, in a Quick Drive or Freeroam scenario. Throughout your journey, you'll be navigating on the Multiplayer Community Radar, enabling interactions with fellow drivers and you will have the ability to make, both scheduled and spontaneous announcements using one of the 460+ AI voices. Essentially, ThirdRails substantially grows your scenario library with an endless array of scenarios. In this video, I demonstrate driving a DB service from Passau to Plattling in real time:
This is why I'm enjoying the new Glasgow to Dunblane route. In quick drive, you get the platform announcements and the on board train ones too making it a bit more immersive. Even the platform information screens are updated correctly. I have run quick drives back and forth in continuation of a working shift and it's very enjoyable. I did a few night time ones and early mornings and I don't seem to get tired of it at all.
Well, we have seen a couple of Steam routes I think, so Stainmore isn't against possibility. The issue is that a route the size of the TSC Stainmore route is unlikely on its own, as it would be smaller.
I am like you i have tinkered with TSW however for me the better sim is TSC possibly because i have used it since day 1 and MSTS before that. Like you you cant beat steam on TSC with the vast amount of routes and traction we have. TSW will get to the same amount of content over time but for me TSC is still my go to sim for trains it just has everything. Also lots of amazing scenario and routes on the workshop and of course ATS whom i check daily and has fantastic payware content.
Highly recommend learning the basics of the scenario editor - you can then gain and enjoy full access to driving all locos on (almost) any route you like, with possibilities that TSW can only dream of simulating Also, go to graphics settings on Windows and make sure Railworks is set to run as high-performance. I hated TSC to begin with because the performance was shockingly bad, but it turns out my PC was only using the integrated GPU instead of the dedicated one! Very common thing that gets missed and causes a lot of people to put it down.
I had that happening too. In the BETA thread I proposed an improvement so one can see which card us used in the settings menu so this situations are easier caught by rhe player. Of course the forum forum elite strangled me within a few hrs of posting that
The identification of which Graphics Card you are using is not a DTG/TSC problem. If such is needed at all it is a Windows suggestion and who are the so called "Elite".
Thank you for the recognition of my superiority, I hope the bruises have now faded but it's your fault as you didn't use the safe word, should we just stick to whips and ropes next time?
