Hi Marc, I've had another look. I deleted the 2 Class 20s and their train and then replaced them, but this time at the end of the sequence of services. Hopefully this should correct matters. If it doesn't, then I'm at a loss!
Thank you I'll give it another try in the morning. It's quite possibly an issue my end. The second scenario you did for the route works perfectly and is very enjoyable
So, Scenario #3 of Peak Forest has been uploaded today. Entitled: Peak Forest BR Green Days #3, it follows on from the end of #2, with the Class 101 on Platform 1 of Ambergate being your office for the duration of the scenario - a limited stopping train to Buxton.
Hi, I thought I'd share a resource I created for my coach reliveries. It displays the composition of the BR MK1 and MK2 coach rakes that are standard in Scenario Planner (presuming you have both NTP and GWB downloaded).
A new scenario to tease you with. Peak Forest BR Green Days #4 starts where PFBRGD#3 left off, at Buxton station. A quick change of ends and you are taking the Class 101 DMU up to Chinley. You will pass Tunstead Quarry on your way - look out for the remnants of steam in the area. At Peak Forest station, a delay keeps you at the station past your leaving time. In fact, DO NOT set off until 15:18 (it's the tunnel's fault!) At Chinley, the double-headed EE Type 1's are the final train (although I did program in another north-bound train to follow you after the 8F, but I'm unsure how long it will take to pass you.)
Hi Marcel, You flatter me in asking for the above locos. If it were just reliveries, I would possibly have a go, but looking at the pics you sent, that's a different league altogether! Photographic vinyls are crazily complex to reproduce, if not impossible. The compromises would be enormous.. If it were possible to upload pics to the Livery Designer, it wouldn't be so bad. I hope you can find someone who may be able to help you, but be careful, as some creators don't liked to be asked. Personally, I don't mind being asked, but 1/ it has to be feasible, and 2/ I have to have an interest in the subject. You may have noticed all my repaints are from the UK and mostly retro UK., and some of them have been a pain! Regards, Dave
Peak Forest BR Green Days #5 is released today. It carries on from PFBRGD#4, having taken charge of an Express from Chinley to Derby. (However your journey is stopped at Ambergate!) Your loco is XP64 liveried D1733 with matching stock, which you may remember headed north earlier in the series. On the way, notice an example of the ever-decreasing number of steam-hauled passenger trains with a Jubilee on a northbound Express. Ambergate is busy, and you will need to pull as far forward as you can to allow the freight train to pass behind you. Beware of those speed limits, the steep gradients can carry you away! For the full BR Green experience, please download / subscribe to the required repaints from my livery stable on the Hub.
By 'eck there are some lovely looking liveries there mate! I have just got a sneaky question though: For the HST how have you got the right blue because I tried doing an HST liveries a few months back and couldn't find the right shade of BR blue, but you seem to, so I just wondered if you would be willing to share that with me please?
Hi Matt, Thank you for your kind words. BR Blue is a really hard colour to get right and is all in the 'eye of the beholder'. I went from photos of my own and from the internet and also from the Deltics I get to play with with the DPS. The latest incarnation I am using is a slight adjustment from my original shade and I'm still in the process of updating some stock. However, this is the coding I'm using: H: 195 S: 85 V: 31
So some new uploaded liveries, to clear my Livery Designer of space. This time, I've added a few Class 47s, one Large Logo and 2 in original InterCity. All available on the Hub. 47401 'North Eastern' 47487 47406 'Rail Riders'
I have just quickly adjusted it on an old livery and it looks so much better, in case I haven't said it already I very much appreciate the help mate.
One of the joys of Livery Designing is the sharing, at least for me. I'm trying to replicate memories I have and I know many others will have too. The BR Blue era is now so long ago, but it was a golden age for me. Long live BR Blue! (And a bit of Green, InterCity, Railfreight...)
To quote you Matt - "By 'eck" - you've opened a can of worms there mate! I've just opened an HST in Livery Designer and realised I'm using the old shades of both BR Blue and BR Yellow! I'll have to do a bit of tweaking and re-upload the lot!
How much is there? Just promise you won't get your pitchfork out or at least let me think of a very good excuse first!
I may go into hiding then as I seem to have committed a lot of your time to this! Hopefully it will be scrap rather than preservation anyway!
You need not fret. I'm annoyed with myself as I should have checked the liveries of my HSTs when I replaced the BR arrrows. Doing that has been a long job!
Peak Forest BR Green Days #6 was uploaded to the Hub today - my final BR Green scenario for Peak Forest at the moment. This takes an EE Type 1 (Class 20) double-header aggregates train from Tunstead Sidings to Gowhole Sidings. A drive not for the faint-hearted, its very easy to wheelslip at departure, which results in sliding down the gradient towards the buffer stops! At departure, ensure that your loco is on Air-braked Goods, and that the appropriate points are set for the departure line. Max speed is 45mph, but beware of overspeeding, especially on the down slopes. Braking is a skill here too. For the full BR Green effect, you will need the following from my Livery stable: Class 20: D8031+D8049; D8059+D8063; Class 37: D6964; Class 40: D221; D322; Class 47: D1808 Class 101: LM V2 Green Coaches: NTP BG Maroon; NTP TSO Maroon; GWB BG Maroon; GWB BG Choc&Cream; Wagons: Seacow Black
Another bit of house clearing of my Livery Designer has seen me upload a few more Class 47s, this time 47618 'Fair Rosamund' in InterCity livery, 47050 and 47236 in original Railfreight and 47003 with silver/grey roof and Cockney Sparrow! The sparrow was a labour of love, but I'm pleased with the result.
Another Stratford 47 just gone onto the Hub. 47116 was almost a Class 48 (had a Sulzer V12 engine from new,, but received a standard engine in the early 1970s).Sister loco 47117 of the same provenance is now preserved.
Couldn't resist doing this one - 47007 in Railfreight Grey with 'Stratford' nameplates and 'Cockney Sparrow' crest. Available on the Hub
So here's a strange thing... just been on MY Mods on the Hub and Peak Forest Green Days # 6 scenario has gone! Not that its been flagged or anything, its just not there! As if its never been there. Apologies to all who have subscribed to it, I'm not sure how that will affect you - I presume it will be missing from your subs. I'll re-upload it today and see what happens. PinzaDave
So, it appears that PF # 6 is still on the Hub, but is not showing under My Mods section. How odd? At least no need to re-upload it.
To go with the Railfreight 47007, here is 47007 in its later Railfreight Construction livery. Nearly 900 layers for this one, most of that on the 2 (!) Cockney Sparrows!
Hi Dave, I've been downloading your excellent liveries recently and just gone back to get some more and I can't download anything. The whirling circle just keeps whirling... under your name it also says unknown user now instead of pinzadave. Just wanted to bring it to your attention in case there's a problem. Ant
Thanks Ant, I have noticed even on my own access when on the Hub that it says 'unknown user' rather than PinzaDave. There does seem to be some access as there are subscribers for the uploads, but I'll flag it up with DTG. Glad you like the liveries. I hope TSW4 makes it easier! Dave
Hi Dave, Did you get a reply from DTG about the "Unknown User" issue? Only I've had it on my system for a few days now which makes it difficult to work out which liveries I have used in my scenarios. I assumed it was just me as nothing seems to have been posted in the main forums. I found the comment in this thread by doing a quick search. Just like you I can't even see myself on the Hub. Thanks, David.
By the way, and I should have said this in my earlier post, thanks very much for all the liveries you have created. I have used quite a few of them in my scenarios (especially TVL) and they certainly liven up the route. David.
Hello David, Thank you for the kind words. I'm pleased you like the liveries. I've not heard back from DTG yet, but its good to know I'm not the only one. I can give them that info if necessary. I'll post when I hear something, hopefully soon. Regards, Dave
DTG have advised me of their receipt of my email and I checked the Creators Club Hub and my username is back on. Hopefully everyone elses too!
That's great news Dave. Hope I can download your liveries now, the 80's/90's stuff is my era so it's magic for me seeing all those liveries, really brings the routes to life. I hope the new creation hub brings the ability to download a whole creators library as the current UI is very badly thought through. Having to find each individual livery for a scenario is a pain. Ant
Wow what can I say,,,,your a busy guy by the looks,,,and your work is very tidy indeed. I don’t know where to start lol. Fantastic work and the time put in to make it look presentable. From a keen creators club user myself it’s great to see proper work. It’s why I started my self to try provide a professional looking products for CC users,,,especially old era liveries. Proper Job,,,Well done.
If you like 47s what do you think of this class 47 460 with the Unofficial name plate made out of a painted wooden plank with old car lettering. It was done by Stratfords Depot staff in April 3rd 1978 in contravention of BR no name policy,,,Naughty Boys lol. I just wanted to see if the blue is off for that era of loco?. on my liveries I tend to place a shading to give that depth of traffic usages as working locos don’t stay clean for long. This will effect the shade of the already tricky colour to get. I actually went in to BRs paint logs to find what Ral numbers and how different ways of mixing effects the shade of the blue due to pigmentation with the mixing process and paints used. This is is meant to be a correct representation of how the crews would have applied that shade. Like on the class 52s or Chromatic Blue shade,,,they differ from Depot to Depot.
I am no expert with Creators Club liveries but that looks good to my eye mate. As you say at the end, different depots often had varying shades of blue.
47460 looks excellent. I never saw it in real life, but the idea that the staff used a plank and DIY car numbers is inspired! BR Blue is a difficult colour to reproduce and I'm sure my shade is not correct, but as has been said - what is the correct shade and was there ever just one correct shade? The one I use looks right to my eye and I've chosen to live with it - although I did tweak it a few months ago which spawned a mass repainting exercise! For nothing more than your entertainment, here are the numbers I use: H: 195 S: 85 V: 31 Dave
A few more uploaded to clear my Livery library. 20005 + 20103 in BR Blue. Spending some time at Tinsley, Sheffield, these were regular on freight around Yorkshire and the Midlands 37123 in BR Blue. Allocated for many years in the Yorkshire area, this loco is presented here with black headcodes. 40118 in BR Blue. Now preserved, the loco was one of only 20 Class 40s built at Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns of Darlington.
Another upload - another "What if..." This time, what if the Prototype HST had been given production style cabs? It would certainly have looked better! My rendition is based on the GWE Class 43 + 7, but I have tried to incorporate as many of the livery elements of the prototype as possible, including the extra bodyside grilles on the Power Cars.
Hi Dave, Your "prototype" HST is good fun. Just uploaded a new scenario to the Hub if you would like to have a "play". (I mean a "serious drive" of course). David.
Hello,,,thank you for the comments. Yes when doing my research it is a bit of a nightmare,,,a lot to take into consideration. And I am not expert so going on different rail pages or modelling to get that info,,,its where I found a conversation over the shades of early BR blue where depots had a different pigment which gave it what they called a Chromatic Blue a lighter shade which after weeks made the locos look grubby faster, as was the case with Class 52s,,so improved the colour as like in BR Green they say that there was never a standard green or early steam BR green and was not classed as Brunswick green. Even lettering would differ due to Individuals different styles so not all writing was the same either. You will know better than me but just trying to point out the difference in shades across BR history for professionals it can be difficult not alone for anyone wanting to give the degree of realism without that knowledge. knowing what I know just proves to me how well you guys know your stuff,,,and just show how much effort and background knowledge you guys have put in to your work.
Hi Dave,, Thanks for your comments,,,I had to do 47 460 after finding out about it during my research as like I think have mentioned I’ve been brought up around trains so know a bit to allow me to get a foot hold on understanding the railway scene but I still do a lot of homework within this scene. I think like what you have achieved I wanted to try give users different locos from different eras so doing the locos across its life span in there many variations. Say like 47 711 “GreyFriers Bobby” Yes it was in Scot Rail livery but had a number of variations from others units in the class. So this version you see is meant to be a accurate representation of early Rail Blue or BR Monastral Blue first introduced in 1965. The colours would look lighter in spray finish and darker in paint. Plus later on they would fade which made them appear lighter and overall usage would if looking at pictures make them appear even lighter than they actually where. This why if working off pictures you will never get it right or showroom new right unless this is taken into consideration as you no doubt know. All this to take into account and thats before moving on to later shades of what eventually was called Large Logo livery. So if you have been altering your blue I wouldn’t worry about it too much,,,I spent hours trying to get my colours right. Like the Armour Yellow and and Pixie Gray for the Unions Pacific and BR Blues I began to realise that yes I can get the shade close in editing so that reflects correctly when in the lighting of the game it self,,,but then adding weathering layers or film and then light conditions as they change take effect in the game will effect what my work looks like or appears and with that will probably be darker yet in the light will look like any earlier BR Monastral blue. So with knowing that I shouldn’t my self worry about it that much during testing,,,I only have to worry about those that are not experienced in knowing what we know and think we have got the shade wrong. So again with having to take so many variables in to account in real world situations that should reflect on our work and putting so much time and emphasis into that is yes important but if people are not aware of our knowledge and why my and you work turns out the way it’s does is down their lack of knowledge not ours. If you spent may hours fretting about it like me then I wouldn’t,,,it’s too much and at the end the day with BR colours to the trained eye I think you will instinctively know when you got the right colour,,,don’t let the doubts if say you keep comparing to other work or pictures creep in where you feel you have too. That will just throw you,,,as every single locomotive looked different day to day week to week and to replicate each perfectly or the same to me is crazy now. Be the same allow the difference in your shades be there,,,is it in new condition is it in used condition or in weathered condition. Just do what I think your doing already or even explain how you go on when planning your colour selection. As in knowing the difference depots with the background we can actually get from records of workshops them selfs from the crews that did the work,,and other reputable sources may help you find the variations your looking for in your early BR to later BR work as it has me,,to alter them as seen fit with planning what condition or state you want your loco to be in or what period in its career is. So I feel like I’m telling the chicken how to suck eggs here and I hope you don’t take it that way. Just a little bit of background on how I go about my work and to anyone that wants to gain insight in to what you do especially and others because I feel you do have a lot of experience and knowledge I could gain too and hopefully be a place I am welcome to get the information I am some times looking for instead of looking for hours on rail modelling forums as I do. I will also share my colouring scales or chart with you. I will send it separately as I’ll need to get a few locos up to acquirer that information first. And what I’ll do is give you the TSLP code so you can see what they look like on the pics places on CC first so you can make a comparison your self or even use them colours if you they fit what your looking for,,,because to me these colour codes are like gold dust due to the amount of time to get them right. But looking at your code there I don’t think where far off to be honest. I’ll send them over for you later. Thanks again.
Whilst I am here can anyone comment about the green I’ve chosen here. The colour is not Brunswick Green nor Apple Green even tho it will appear so in game. I’ve been testing on greens from a Deep Land Rover Bronze green and so forth. It’s right on my chart I’ve been checking the BS codes etc. But it’s worrying me as it does appear lighter in the game. Obviously if so I will have to darken them more but with dirt layers on top it will then make them look black in darker lighting which will offset the appearance overall which is not the case in real life conditions after researching and testing. Thanks.
