    Hello everyone,

We're at our final Train Sim World 4 preview live stream before the early access begins on September 21st, and we will be showcasing the East Coast Main Line route with the Azuma, as well as the Flying Scotsman loco!

We will be live on Wednesday, September 20th starting at 18:00pm UTC / 19:00pm BST on Train Sim World channels.

If you have any questions you want us to address regarding ECML or Flying Scotsman, please send them in this thread - as a reminder we may not get to all questions on the stream, and we will look through this thread in preparation.

Will flying scotsman use Blood and Custard Mk1s or are we still limited to the crimson?

Can we please have a detailed look at the timetable for all Class 801 services please? For both the 9 car and 5/10 car, please scroll from the very top to the very bottom (ideally slowly!) so we can see every driveable service

Also, can you go into more detail about how many AI services there are please? For Class 801 and Class 158.

To follow that, are there AI services on the Class 158 at:

    • Peterborough (representing the Sleaford/Lincoln services)

    • Grantham platform 3 bay (representing Nottingham-Skegness services)

    • Newark (representing Newark Northgate platform 3 to Lincoln AND Newark Castle to Lincoln via the flat crossing)

    • Doncaster (platform 5 to Lincoln/Spalding via Gainsborough)

Are the low level platforms at Retford accessible?

Can you please show an example of each collectible?

Finally are you open to ever extending this route? I'm personally happy exactly as it is, but there are constant posts about extensions everyday it would be nice to clear that up!

I too would like a full & thorough breakdown on all services for all layers, including AI & playable.

On another note, we keep seeing the 66 reused. For several years now it has been & still is, the only modern UK freight loco. When will we finally be free of it? At the very least why do we still not have another TOC for it?

What switches if any function on the isolation panels besides the bog standard aws/TPWS dvd/ and DRA if any ?

Does the route include approach control signalling at the appropriate junctions? Such as release from red and flashing yellows, as I think the route has these in real life.
I'm thinking probably yes to this as the recent routes seem to have these as standard.
Also, I think I saw a cab ride video which had flashing greens on this portion of the ECML, I believe this was for higher line speeds (140mph) but this never materialised - not sure if the real route still has those flashing greens now.

Ok lol but if I’m interpreting the question correctly then yes the Scotsman like the azuma can be used on all and any lines as like the azuma in its diesel engine mode the Scotsman operating under steam is not constrained to overhead wires or 3rd rail due to being it’s own power under steam

i second this question too.. i know as an example northbound trains that call at Retford are given flashing double amber and flashing amber before the route feather indicator signal on approach to the 40mph diverging track into platform 2, so approach control is definitely used in real life on the ecml.. so hoping it's in the route here too!

Yes these green lights are included for purposes of our enjoyment but as you correctly stated above the 140 mph which were for test purposes on said section of ecml just outside Peterborough

Also, could we have some moderation in those threads please? They always get filled with irrelevant nonsense & then we end up with like 7 questions being answered in the stream. Bit annoying.

Now that all the Routes have been shown, how about a quick look at the Training Center. I would be interested to know where each Train is found with 3 Training locomotives and all Core Routes installed.

Will the Scotsman, Vectron and other Trains from Dresden-Riesa also be in the Training Center?

    1. (801) Do the door open at different times and is the strength of the brake affected by passenger count like on the 323?

1.2 (801) Are services that wouldn't normally be run by an 801 be included in the timetable e.g. Services done by an 800?

    2. (Scotsman) Does the loco have a similar performance to the jubilee?

2.1 (Scotsman) Since the loco has aws does this also mean that tpws has been fully installed on the loco? What would happen if I were to speed over tpws OSS?

    A few from me...

Some concerns have been expressed about the Azuma sounds with indications from the earlier quick PR video that they might be aliased in part to the totally different Electrostar. Can we confirm the Azuma sounds have been sourced from the prototype and given a good mix? This is a particular concern given the Swiss EMU does not have the correct sound set and the ongoing poor sound on the Class 700.

Have the Azuma physics been improved over the TSC version which still wants to accelerate in Notch 1 at 120 MPH?

Any improvement to steam physics (and sounds) given it is still largely flawed on the existing SoS content?

We have a steam charter set but still no restaurant or buffet vehicle for the consist. When are the modelling department going to get round to creating one (please)?

Why modern era and not something more historic with a Deltic and HST (Valenta)?

Are there any plans for a Deltic DLC or more LNER steam locos (such as a B1, B12 or V2) along with a historic LNER BR(NE) route to run on?

Why this particular section and not something more scenic like Newcastle to Berwick and Edinburgh>

Is this route likely to get extended in future or is that it?

I can address 2 points for you 1. The sounds were taken from the actual azuma/Armstrong powerhouse.2 the reason for the Doncaster to Peterborough section is as follows. This being the year of celebration for the flying Scotsman and fact that flying Scotsman was constructed at Doncaster works this is the reason for this section of ecml being used in tsw4

Fair enough but I would still like to hear DTG answer why people have been picking up Electrostar sounds. And as we have seen recently, just because they have authentic audio does not seem to stop the end result being a bit of a mess - Class 700 again.

On the second point, maybe... but if the focus of the route was Flying Scotsman then maybe it should have been built as 1960's era and included that other iconic ECML traction, the Deltic.

Because the AP did in fact use Electrostar sounds in the 800 pack. Everything about the train besides the high-speed running sounds in unique.

So it looks as if we are again using sounds that have not been sourced, at least in part, for the actual train being modelled? Even if these have been mixed close to the real thing it doesn't make it right and begs the question why choose a route/train/era where you know you may face difficulty getting correct sounds?

Anyhow I think I will leave it there and see if DTG care to address the issue during the stream.

Regarding the interior of the Azuma.

In the brief video which showed the kitchen area the fire door at the end of the kitchen next to the staff area was closed as standard. In reality this door is always kept open unless of emergency etc.

I also wouldn’t mind seeing more accurate modelling for the 5 car interior - there’s an extra row of seats in the catering vehicle and shorter kitchen.

As others have mentioned the external PIS is a bit wonky. In the video you showed you could see the destination of London Kings Cross scrolling. In reality this destination takes up two rows.

Edit. Just rewatched yesterday’s vid. Yeah I can’t shake the feeling that the sounds just don’t sound right. I’ve worked on the since 2019 and know what they sound like. They have a very distinctive whine. What source sounds did DTG use for the 801 cos I can guarantee it wasn’t an 801.

How functional is the DAS screen and is there anything other than that screen you can view on the TMS screen?
    Do gaurds pannels work?

Thank you. That's all for now. Looking forward to the stream! :)

"The Griddy is a dance move in which a person alternatingly taps their heels, either in place or while walking, while swinging their arms back and forth."

From Wikipedia, but still a bit confused what this has to do with a LNER kettle!

Not creating a route just because the correct sounds are not obtained limits what can be made. We wouldn't have many dlcs such as the 700, certain freight routes, vorarlberg or some of the original tsw routes that used synthesized sounds. Also limits future content as well.

Sorry got to disagree. There are only so many times they can pull this one. They are a professional developer supposedly developing simulation level content. I don't buy a 747 or MD11 in FSX/MSFS and accept it was aliased to the Learjet or a Cessna. Correct sounds are an essential part of the simulation and, as I said, if they're going to do something do it properly or seek another prototype.

Making excuses or letting them off the hook only goes so far at which point it starts to wear a bit thin.

Anyhow I want to hear from DTG on this, not their self appointed defenders.

Wishful thinking. I don't think they've shown console footage for over a year now on their stream? (I could be wrong). People used to ask all the time to see the differences on all offered platforms and they used to show off each. But since the streams went downhill I suspect marketing put their noses in to stop the worst performing platforms from being shown off. Best to trick people with slick screenshots. After all, a screenshot has the best FPS for its intended use :D

Remember, if something isn't being shown, there's a very good reason behind it.

Yes the problem is that if DTG proxies try to answer questions aimed at the stream, DTG might feel that they don't need to answer in the stream or elsewhere.

On the article released, the MML HST is layered in.
Are these playable services or AI?
Is the WCL Steam railtour able to layer in as Flying Scotsman replacement?

Okay but from what they have shown for a year on the streams it's also very evident that a PC isn't the platform for a stutter free experience. When I look at all the problems most games I play have on launch on PC it's even more evident that a PC is just a waste of money for me.

Can you imagine some people find the price of a new version of TSW already outrageous and you want to add the price of a top specced PC on top of that and the result would be still experiencing stutters? :o

I agree. Some people mention here that TSW is the only game they play. If you're not into modding the game, you may as well buy a console. It's the cheapest price point for such a sub optimized game.

Was there any consideration to have the Northern 323 as AI at Doncaster to represent Northern services (such as the 331 which runs between Doncaster and Leeds)? It’s not exactly true to life but would be nice to see.

this is a really good point.. yes there's gonna be people saying 'that train never runs that route in real life' but i think it would really make Doncaster feel more alive, and i would definitely love to see the northern 323 using Doncaster platform 6 for sure!

I’m glad you agree, it’s similar to the situation on BRO with the 612 which I think doesn’t actually run on that line in reality (I could be wrong). I’d like to think that having some form of acknowledgement of Northern services at Doncaster really wouldn’t go amiss.
