The Pis in the 801 showcase is incorrect. Now I would expect DTG to nail this since they got it correct in their TSC editon (For comparison references here is a PIS from TSC) (in real life) In Train Sim World And also the font is wrong, also the PIS doesn’t show departure time, and stations that the train calls at. Like these are simple things that you can’t miss, these are in the TSC version by the way. like come on DTG you got the PIS correct on TSC and the train wasn’t even in service when you made that model. Please fix the PIS, also the sounds are a bit off but I will wait till the preview to make my final judgement on the sounds of the train
while it is work in progress I do believe some things never change remember the ICE 3 Railbow addon? bad comparison but irl the train has been redesigned but in TSW it's lying around in the past, looking stupid (bad comparison I'm sorry)
Honestly, but I don’t expect DTG to muck up the PIS, they got it correct on a train that wasn’t even in service , and they got the 395 pis correct on TSW
The PIS has always been with issues in TSW on countless locos and routes, very much a shame as I’ve always liked the feature, but I’ve just had to give up on expecting it working.
Not even only that they got the classification of the unit wrong. 801/2s are 9 car units and 801/1s are 5 car units
Don’t get your hopes up (I’m sure you’re thinking this way) it won’t be fixed. Maybe a new preservation team will take care of it, and before the release of TSW5, they’ll vanish with that supposed “fix”.
Wrong PIS is hardly a deal breaker. If you’re buying the game and pay the majority of the time looking at this, then maybe it’s not the game for you. The choice is yours.
Got to say I equate PIS to Taillights if not more fun, it’s standard procedure and quite an immersive feature being the driver.
I’d imagine they will fix this, as they did with the 395 on initial release. There really is no excuse for getting it wrong but not a deal breaker for me at least.
I have spoken seriously about the PIS on the other thread so I am allowed this comment! But as long as there is some sort of PIS on every single service, showing the correct end point they have already done better than real life. Now I am living on the edge of employment with that!
Haven't heard much of them but I can tell that the high-speed running sounds are from the AP pack. For some reason at no fault of dtg AP used the running sounds from the Electrostar sound pack. I advise you and others go listen to the pack for reference either before or on Wednesday.
I noticed it from the og ep. Which I did call out AP for. I’m bothered about acceleration sounds though.
I thought they were able to record the 801 sound from an actual train and that LNER had allowed them to do so. If they’ve just used AP sounds and if the AP sounds are incorrect, all I can do is sigh the biggest sigh. How have they gotten the PIS wrong, too? No words.
They had a lot from Edinburgh but there is only so much that can be given access to when real life passenger services need running, I'd also imagine it's a health and safety nightmare for those up above too at both parties. The AP sounds were used to fill in the gaps. As I say the fact it is there and showing the right destination is a good start!
I thinks it's a similar situation to the 700 except hopefully better. A mix of recorded sounds and sourced sounds from AP. For example, the horn sounds like it's been captured by dtg rather than sourced from AP
Meanwhile US players have been dealing with electric AI trains moving around with their pantos down on NYT......be glad its just the PIS
To be fair the TSC screenshot is either of the Superalbs reskin or the AP EP, neither of which DTG had any part in making. That said I'm pretty sure the unmodded 801 still has the correct PIS. It isn't. The exterior PIS shows the exact same content as the interior displays, which themselves have the incorrect font and syntax, and also display the wrong information when a train is out of service.
We might not be seeing the timing and whatnot because they use a custom scenario to showcase that and it isn't in timetable mode so they don't have the timetable to copy over the timings. The font I feel is a bit picky. It'll probably get tidied up eventually like the 158 though.
But why is it wrong in the first place? Whatever happened to highly detailed? Who is looking at the many photographs they supposedly use when modelling a train?
I guess the font is under license. It's not unfamiliar in the railway that parts not included in the railway company it selfs. Same part is for announcements etc
Honestly as long as there IS a PIS display, I'm not too bothered about the accuracy of the font, as long as it doesn't look so wrong it looks out of place. The original destination indicator on the 377 comes to mind. As someone who lives fairly local to 800s (albeit GWR ones), I pay next to no attention to the displays in real life. TSW will be no different.
As has been said it will be licensed and as I have said it is unlikely LNER who hold the license but Hitachi which is where any luck of getting the license for it ends. Obviously they could use it anyway but that will not only cause bad relations but Hitachi will most likely sue DTG until the the sun goes down and probably after it's down too.
Yeah true, but it doesn’t stop them from including some things to improve it e.g time, the stations the train will call at. Just minor things, sure the font is copyrighted but it doesn’t mean you miss out other things
Hitachi allows DTG to use their name on depots and to use their trains so it would be odd if they went 'No thats where we draw the line' for something as small as the font on PIS screens. which i never knew they owned since it seems so basic.
Do you ever think about the fact that Hitachi is not the first owner of it? Could really possible that they have paid for it... In that case it's not fair to raise the price of the DLC for a font.....
People are worried what the PIS will look like, but honestly I don’t think it’ll be an issue since it’s a 50/50 as to if it works in the first place.
its font why would hitachi spent money to buy the rights to have font which looks like something you see on a calculator screen. and protect it so that dtg doesn't have access dtg hasn't even made a statement about it so this could just be a mistake and not an issue with licensing
As long as the font isn’t ridiculously off, and it works and displays as it would in real life then that’s what it should at least be. it working in the first place is something of a long standing issue.
the top post for this thread already pointed out how its not displaying how it would in real life, outside of the inaccurate font. but it was from 'work in progress' screenshots so hopefully things will change for release and the class 801 will end up being a great train.
I was just making a general point on my thoughts for any PIS, very specific font is great addition, it actually working is essential.
100% yes not excusing the formatting. Oh it would be odd: that's what makes me think they have done that. Nothing is basic dealing with that company!
