I honestly tried to give the new HUD a try. But it's impossible! It's not clear how much more to the station. I keep driving past it! At a huge speed your flask, which measures distance is useless! How can you make everything so lame? Two kilometers is also too small a scale. I'm driving a train, not a truck! Why don't you let the player customize the scale or how the distance will be measured, let the player customize the HUD elements themselves.
You can switch to the old hud and have everything tell you. You don't have to use the new hud. It's called minimal hud for a reason so you can feel connected to the train and not rely on just looking at numbers. With station stopping, it is something you gain with playing the route over and over again. When first starting out, turn on the objective marker to determine where stations are and get a feel for the braking. Then as you memorize the route, turn the marker off and drive like a real person would.
That's how I like the minimum mode, but I have a problem with this bulb. Why can't I replace it with distance? Why do they take away the player's ability to customize the HUD? Also, I'm just asking the self to choose the scale of this strip. Is it that hard to implement?
There should be more customisability in the HUD. I like the Minimal hud but it's hard to read the cab's speedometer. Next option is Simple HUD but in simple I can't see the gradient. I would like to be able to toggle the simple speedometer on when in Minimal HUD. Also the distance bar is too small for big TV''s.
It needs refining, specifically distance to station though all I have done is leave the obtrusive marker on for now. Current speed needs to be shown on the HUD. On the RHS showing upcoming speed I have managed to turn off signal aspects but can’t get rid of the white dot that shows the position of the next signal. I now try to drive without any indication of upcoming signal position or aspect but I do need the speed info. Give us an option to remove all the signalling info from the ticker tape, please. However overall I like the new HUD and am more focused on actually looking out the cab front than constantly squinting at the bottom RHS screen. The other exception will be steam locos as the speedo is not visible in the driving views.
