Flying Scotsman’s AWS is disconnected from the HUD and the alerter button making it unusable, buzz on the alerts are also way too quiet, same thing for class 66 and class 801, running sounds for quiet for the 801, also running on diesel despite raised panto. Found 2 Scotsman’s in one service, got stuck behind the flying Scotsman while driving another basically lol
Playing on PC. The AWS / TPWS sounds are insanely quiet, it's essentially unplayable, I have to turn my speakers up so loud to hear them, but then the main menu / other sound effects deafen me. There's also a bug when showing and hiding the speedometer (CTRL+6 I think?) that causes a giant yellow 0 to flash onto the screen momentarily. It would be nice to have the new, advanced HUD up the top, but still have the option to have the speedo in the bottom right, as on my ultrawide monitor, it is impossible to see the train's speedo in the cab, and have a reasonable view out of the window. Pleasently surprised to see passengers dragging luggage, and using their phones. Good job. Brought back to reality when a passenger promptly buried their head into a station sign. In two minds on the new OHLE. I like the idea, but, they look chonky. It's a weird workaround. I'd have preferred effort went into better anti-aliasing options. The frame rate on this route is, well, pretty low. Haven't hit 60 once, and often dip into the 30s, on a RTX 3080 and Ryzen 3900X. Not unplayable, but, worse than the usual TSW3 performance, with identical settings and configuration. Need to assess the impact of the new volumetric fog on this, but, I've only really played in daylight so far. But yeah the main thing is the sound balance is way off. Outside sounds are too loud, AWS is too quiet, etc. just odd.
I just tried to the ‘1Y82 York to London Kings Cross”, and just when I was arriving at Peterborough, every train was stopped in red lights, and I couldn’t finish the service
Tried free roam mode on this route it wont it let me set a path to anywhere despite having a train spawned in at Doncaster.
If you click on a passenger door whilst moving, it opens… so the doors don’t appear to be locked. Granted it throws the emergency brake in, but obviously not right
Minor issue with the 9 car variant of the 801/2 where the display screens are backwards and ai drivers will have tail lights and headlight on the front appart from that loving ECML
The Azuma sounds good to me, except for being far too quiet as others have said. To my ears at least it is probably the best recreation of modern uk train at speed to date. First route I have noticed sound effects for passing under bridges and passing trains, very nice. I did have to have the volume turned way up to hear them though, which was fine, until I forgot, and used the horn... not sure my ears will recover from that. OHLE is awful. Looks ok with screen percentage at 200% but with it as 100% as I have to have it to get a decent framerate it is a huge downgrade from TSW3. Really liking the new HUD for speed limits, much needed improvement. Countdown bar to station stop from 125mph is another story. Probably great for a 50mph commuter route but needs adjustment for this route. The barber pole effect makes it hard to judge how quickly it is decreasing.
I did do an update check, which triggered updates for the Scotsman & Antelope Valley, but the game version is still the same.
Pleasant surprise. The night lighting on ECML is pretty good. I hops this is true for the other TSW4 routes going forward. I'm on PC, by the way. The 801 is very quiet though, not much sound from train or track. For comparison, the Acela sounds much better. However, we now have tunnel and bridge reverb ( I think ), at least on this route.
Keep getting this weird bug where there's a menu overlay during gameplay and pressing the buttons on it does not remove it
AWS on the Azuma is so quiet on the PS5. It has led to multiple penalty brakes and my game volume is unchanged. Sifa alerts are fine. I have also noticed that AI train have their headlights on as well as their tail lights at the same time
If you have a headset on, the sound from the controller doesn't happen. You can't hear it over the normal ambient noise and I can never hear the TPWS talking when you turn it on either
I cannot overstate how crucial it is that the quiet AWS on the 801 is fixed immediately. Can someone at DTG please assure us this will be fixed asap? And also explain why it's an issue that somehow got into the release build to begin with?
Yeah, I got emergency braked in a scenario because the AWS alarm was completely inaudible on the PS5 controller - that was disappointing. Also, IMO, the audio mix for the route introduction needs work too. On ECML, the narrator was too quiet, while in Antelope Valley, it was the opposite.
The scoring doesn't seem to be working properly. I have all safety systems set to normal (AWS, TPAWS, Vigilance, DSD, DRA and SDO) but still only get 30 points per sector as per TSW3. I thought it should be more under the new system? Only been running on ECML so far not sure if it's only this route.
JD has said a few times it will be fixed on a Day 1 patch. I'm a big fan of the new scoring system. Just did my first Platinum run, but weird to see that things like Safety Systems and Cab Setup had "N/A" next to them on the breakdown. I do enjoy the new breakdown. I also want to add something else positive; THANK YOU for the new rain effects on the windows. It makes driving in the rain not only acceptable, but desirable. One more bug though. I've noticed a number of AI trains running around with their emergency diesel engines on.
So here's my feedback after playing for a few hours. As noted by others, the AWS and other alerts are so quiet you cannot hear them. Those cables between the coaches on the Azuma need to be fixed. As noted in the stream last night, they float so become disconnected when going round a curve. I thought there was a new scoring system for TSW4. ECML seems to only show bronze, silver and gold medals in timetable mode. Platinum does not show up but does on Antelope Valley and Vorarlberg. Some passengers/pedestrians fall through the platforms. I ran a service with Flying Scotsman earlier and random things were happening like injectors opening even though I was nowhere near the controls at the time. Some positive feedback is that the route overall is good. The stations are well modelled and the new dioramas are a nice touch. The haptic/rumble feedback through the PS5 dualsense controller is great, as is the signal warning light on the pad.
I have just read through this thread and it has occurred to me that the majority of people with issues are neglecting to state what platform they are running the game on. I am sure it would be extremely helpful to the team at DTG to have this information included in your reports. ( not to mention also helpful for other users to know what has been reported on their own particular platform to help confirm they too see the same issue?) Please everyone take a few seconds and include the platform in your post!
Really enjoyed my time playing TSW4 today (PC). The ECML route ive really enjoyed, however the ECML isn't a route im knowlable on! However bar some of the same issues of TSW3 slipping in, some of the features are great. Freeroam is so good! Rain & Fog look grand. Suspension improvements on the 323 look like a great stepping stone to hopefully getting some of the immersion physics of 'Diesel Railcar Sim' in TSW. The redesigned HUD is much better however, i hardly play with anything on bar some form of indication to how far my next stop is (until i build up sufficient route knowledge). The 'barber style' vertical distance bar is handy for low speed, but useless at 125! Would much prefer a 'distance to x' square on the HUD. ECML Route: Really enjoying some of the runs, and look forward to the layers to be incorporated on the 26th for more immersion & variety. Route looks great overall! Some places look sparse lineside wise however and can look not great if the lighting is off. Great to see Approach Control & Approach Release featured, however the signal lenses really can scupper signal sighting until your right 'on top' of the signal. Great station models! Some of the scenario events within 'In Threes' is different, but some of the events and whats required of you was laughable! (Oh and dont hit the cows like me!) The Azuma: Working within the railway industry and having hands-on experience with the 'green versions' of the 'Azuma' ive noticed a few issues with the Class 80x itself. Im all about the simulation & details, so apologies if it seems picky - i just want stuff to be accurate Model: Overall a solid model! Looks fabulous and the people behind it should be proud. Sounds: Really happy with the sound sets used on the Azuma - most of it is spot on bar some odd mixing choices (mainly within the cab). Love the reverb/sound occlusions for bridges & tunnels - lots of immersion! Horn sounds grand too! AWS/DSD sounds are far too quiet (the AWS cancellation button is louder!) DSD/Vigilance going off when reverser is in Neutral! Rain seems a little quiet when hitting the train at 125mph within the cab! No TMS interaction sounds (ie: beeps) Safety System Operational check doesn't sound like its coming from 'within the cab', more like its just being played in your ear. Also worth noting that the Driving Ends of the Class 80x are non-motor coaches; therefore you shouldn’t be able to hear the traction motors at all whilst in the cab. That is true to life & not a bug/issue Simulation: Lighting/Lights - Sadly the unit suffers from the same lighting issue that TSW has had for a very long time. This makes stuff either very underexposed, or very overexposed so that you can hardly see anything. Very unnatural cab lighting occlusion during the day - hardly any shadow within the cab, as if a light is always on! Breaks immersion especially during dark days. This also completely washes out crucial cab lights such as the DRA - can hardly see if its on or off! Headlights are very dim! The 'full' setting on the Class 80x are very bright head on, however (especially in tunnels) they seem very underwhelming! Odd lighting within the interior carriages during the night. Looking at the headlights off-axis makes them disappear (similar issue to MML HST). Doors - When the driver releases the doors, this 'unlocks' them, it does not force 'open' all them. Then (those doors that passengers open), will automatically shut after 30s but remain 'unlocked'. Shame to see this not simulated! Door buttons within cab do not light-up to show their relevant state. Door Interlock is gained whilst doors are still closing! Guard Panels dont seem to be working at all. Local door button seems to work but no ability to release or close doors, once control has been given. Door Control buttons dont light up appropriately when you key-in. Why is there a extra step to be able to interact with the panel too? Also why the odd vertical slider to key in, but then cab ones are horizontal? (PS. horizontal slider is so more natural to interact with!) No flashing BIL (Bodyside Indicator Light) on relevant coach when you've keyed-into on the guards panel. No BIL illuminated when cab door opens (however they are interlocked +1! ) No driver-guard buzzer sounds. Saloon doors are automatic (bar two) and shouldn't require player interaction to open. Whats with the random cycle of 'clicks' from the door controls within the cab, when releasing or shutting the doors? Misc - GSM-R 'Test OK' displayed by default on GSM-R? Wheres the GSM-R boot sequence? Remote tail feature is great! However this is overridden when two units couple together and tails automatically turn off (bar the active keyed-in cab which defaults to whatever lights have been selected). Open nose cones should close after the unit exceeds 15mph (however this can be isolated). Neutral Sections apparently work, however no physical sign of this within the cab as 'Line' & 'VCB' Lights dont respond to Neutral Sections. The Emergency Brake should be non-recoverable and required acknowledgement to be released (button not functional) Going into Neutral whilst moving should initiate a emergency break application. 'Destination' & 'Next Stop' should be fixed on the PIS and shouldnt scroll, bar the 'Calling at' pattern. Shame you cant fill the 'Departure Time' bit with info from the Timetable. 'Desk Illumination' switch doesn't do anything it seems Its a picky list, but im one for simulation & detail sadly! Top job in general though DTG!
Will that be the 26th then? I'm not keen on waiting even five days for such a glaring issue to be fixed.
Some things take longer to fix than others. Some fixes that seem easy may be more complicated. There's also a whole process of bug fixing. So any time between now and release, there probably will be at least one patch
Is anyone else hearing music when playing Azusa scenarios? Just playing “Testing the Limits” this now, reached 100mph then it’s started. Same with another one. Audio settings have menus music off.
It is one of the new features. Some scenarios will play music at specific moments to make them more epic.
Another bug I have is on creators club I can’t subscribe to anything because it say I don’t own it. For example every 801 livery say required content but doesn’t say anything or says more info
I had an out of memory error on a Gen 8 Xbox. 1148 London to Leeds ran perfectly all the way to Doncaster. Once there I opened the doors and had a look around the station using the free camera before getting the dreaded error message and crashing out of the game, but not before seeing passengers on the tracks in the station.
AWS barely Audible on the controller at max and general quiet sounds are my main issue with the Azuma, apart from that, the Azuma is very nice although it’s annoying walking through as you have to double tap X on PS5 to walk through both intercoach connecting doors. not tried the route yet.
Scotsman’s AWS doesn’t even work properly, even passing a green the sunflower stays, meant to disappear when passing a green
I don’t think the new scoring system is active on this route’s timetable mode. I noticed that I was getting +30 AP with all the safety systems activated, only got a gold medal too. Went to have a look at the journey service I played and there wasn’t a platinum medal score requirement showing for the service, only bronze, silver and gold requirements. After that, I went into the service mode timetable and it seems all services on the ECML for the Azuma, Scotsman and the Class 66 do not have platinum scoring requirements. The Class 66 tutorial is also missing platinum medal, whereas the Azuma and Scotsman ones do have it. I can confirm the scenarios that come with the route DO have platinum requirements.
I don’t know if this is accurate but I can’t seem to completely shut the train down. If I hold the Aux off button most of the train shuts down, however there seems to be some lights on in the passenger area and in the cab. Suspect this would be some emergency lighting so you can start the train up when a driver begins his shift. But I would like a complete cold and dark no lights nothing start up. Btw. Love the Azuma. Such a great train to drive and overall a really great train. Except when you are a passenger lol
As everyone else said already, the AWS sound is essentially non-existent on PS5. In fact, loads of sounds feel much too quiet. Also, why can't I get rid of the track monitor? I turned the distance to speed limit HUD on and track monitor off, yet the track monitor didn't go away.
Quite a minor bug here. When sitting in the Azuma as a passenger, the passengers in the seat in front can be seen clipping through the seat back. PC Steam version.
Absolutely fabulous the detail is incredible I took 801 in diesel mode to helpston level crossing is fabulous the mechanical sounds of barriers rising when trains passed level crossing also the nice addition of the cars and if you get in there way they honk horns at you lol so it’s easy to make cars queue over level crossings I also find level crossings good opportunity for the new photo feature and have already saved few to rail fan shots a job well done one thing I would like to know form a dev and setup prospective how hard is it and what processes do you have to go through to get level crossings working correctly
Scoring is the old system on ECML Flying scottsmens AWScant be pressed on controller on PlayStation 5
Agreed. Definitely because it sounds excellent when I CAN hear it. I especially like the brakes squealing when coming to a stand. Sounds just like the real thing.
Same. But to hear any of it my exterior camera needs to be right next to the actual traction motors themselves (wich are a pain to find) to hear anything! Good when you can hear it, sad that you can't.
Local guy. My profile pic on here is me, at work. You can't see it, but the green bridge on ECML is literally RIGHT behind me. As you come through Newark, the 5 large tanks (3+2) .... the 2 are just off of my left hand. The biggest landmark in Newark - visible from MILES AWAY IN ALL DIRECTIONS - is The Sugar Factory. Located a stone's throw from the railway. Those 3+2 tanks I mentioned are 5 of the shorter yet large vessels on site. I was looking forward to seeing the factory modelled on the route, given its very close proximity to the railway and the fact it is the ONLY significant landmark in Newark that can be seen from 15+ miles away! Anyone who has been through Newark knows the Sugar factory.... I'm surprised to find it almost completely missing from the game. Just the 2 sets of tanks which are not the tallest features!!! Where are the 4 GIANT silos, the 2 GIANT chimneys??!! The massive factory buildings?!! Disappointed is an understatement. I've asked Dovetail a few times to include this part of the line, the flat crossing being a particularly special piece of railway infrastructure! I just can't believe that the area close to the track hasn't been portrayed as it is and that such a significant landmark is missing!!!
As everyone already said - audio, especially safety systems. I did just find out that with all safety systems off using Shift+enter then ctrl+enter, I still get tripped on AWS in the Azuma. I went to the back wall and manually made sure TPWS and AWS are isolated. Every time I accelerate I'm getting the "Driver assist" warning, telling me to wait 60s bla bla bla, even though I'm not being braked and can freely apply power.
