I ask because I am running low on disk space. If my entire TSW3 library is copied into a new folder structure, then I may have to remove TSW3 before I can fully install TSW4.

    Any guidance is appreciated!!

You have to redownload them for tsw4. You can uninstall tsw3 once you've moved your profile over. That's what I did last year with tsw3. After that, it remembers your content.

you can uninstall all of your DLC (and if you don't use any mods (assuming you are on PC since you talk about folder structures) even TSW3 entirely), Steam knows that you own the DLC you own and they will be reinstallable to TSW4. so you can if you want to, uninstall TSW3 already

You will need to download any DLC again for TSW4. So you will need to make space for it first.

What you will do in that scenario is actually uninstall TSW 3 in order to solve this issue of DLC space for TSW 4 I did this on the Xbox last year by transferring my TSW 2 profile to TSW 3 and then uninstall the old game. If Disk version DLCs you need to contact customer support about that

I think the DLC has been updated to work in TSW4, therefore it will be a fresh download.
When I mentioned just copying the pak files across in another thread, Matt P stated they probably wouldn't work and I subsequently read another post from someone who had tried it and confirmed attempting to run a TSW3 DLC as is, just crashed TSW4.

So you might as well uninstall TSW3 but don't forget you will need to manually delete its folder wherever it's installed on your HD.

Just uninstall your TSW3 DLC before installing TSW4. You could even install only one of the TSW4 DLC before you import your profile from TSW3. After that you can remove TSW3 and install the remaining TSW4 DLC.

Am I right in thinking that if I want to run TSW3 routes with the wonderful scenery mods, enhancements etc, that TSW3 will have to be retained as the mods will not work in TSW4 ?

Most of the mods from TSW3 will probably work without any issues. TSW2 scenery mods also worked just fine in TSW3.

you will have to see. I tried a few mods already in TSW4 (godmode, out of bounds disable, better rain and new rain/thunder/wind sounds) and they work perfectly without breaking the game (yet). someone on YT who I asked said TSW4 will most likely not support soundmods anymore, but as DTG partially confirmed, texture change mods do work. we'll have to see what works and what doesn't

that's because there wasn't really anything different between TSW2RH and TSW3, as nothing I guess changed in their UE4.26 build of TSW

want to get off my chest that I strongly hope enhancement packs such as for the ICE 1, ICE 3, 101, 182 etc. will work. if not, I'll just... well... break my bed?

And do you really think there is any difference between TSW3 and TSW4? It's the same thing, my man.

Yeah, trying to run TSW3 DLC in TSW4 gives you Unreal crashes.

Have never tried it, but I assume the same would happen if you tried copying TSW2 files into TSW3. So this does not mean much. I assume there is a version difference in the re-cooked build that causes the crash for full DLCs. But if I had to guess, it should not affect mods.

there were actually two mods for me already which broke the game, not crash but weirdly dropped me into an empty world, it were the Dosto glass and door fix mods, if you know these

I've done a fair bit of testing today. Mods to dlc are currently hugely affected due to the add-on manager. It'll take a lot of work to get some tsw3 mods working in tsw4.

The mods that do work are based around the core. Most mods which apply to routes or trains (the paks in the dlc folder) will have to be rebuilt unless the way the add-on manager works can be changed.

Mods that edited materials will be broken, sound mods have to be built from the ground up, and any files that have been edited by hex (a lot of mods do this) just break tsw4. Texture replacements seem ok.

    Not great news.

Thanks everyone for your guidance! I suspected I would be doing some disk cleanup, but you have confirmed it.

Not great news at all.....I assumed mods would be mostly ok based on the comments from DTG when addressing fears from the PC community with the add-on manager.

I fear most of my favourite mods will be abandoned in TSW4 :(

Hey folks. On Mods - support is in progress, we will need a little patience though whilst we work with the modding community.

Chatted to Matt about this, and it's less of an Add-ons Manager issue, and more due to the fact that we've changed the compiled material format to support the Public Editor. It's not the whole reason, but it's a contributing factor.

Essentially, core mods seem to be in reasonable shape (like God Mode, which I believe has a TSW4 update for it already), but content mods will need a little more TLC. There are some fixes that help them work better which are in a future build, but it'll be an ongoing process. Texture mods, for instance, have had a good response to the improvements in the future build (previously mentioned).

We have a lot of modders and mod users in the beta, and are working with them to improve mod support. When we have a firm understanding of guidance, we will share it.

DTG Matt I found today that including an assetregistry.bin in mods allowed them to load. This was always against protocol for plugins containing replacement type mods. Very interesting.

I'd advise against considering that a solution - our lead engineer has specifically said that causes problems so may be that with the upcoming fix it will.

Please wait for us to give some advice once we've finalised it to save wasting your efforts - we are working with a number of mod creators and users to get this right.

I was under the impression that mods had been tested over the last 18 months? Now on purchase of tsw4 we’re told modders create messy mods? The problem is at our end. We need to sort. We do this in our spare time, free of charge.
I never understood going to the trouble of testing out PC builds with mods in regards to addons mgr anyway. Surely when the Sony addon solution was proposed. Someone would have suggested a disable check box that consoles cannot click?
