I think dovetail should extended the ECML route from Peterborough to London and maybe from Doncaster to York as more people will play it.Maybe they should also make the timetable a bit more busy like in real life.It would be great if they added the class 180 as well for drivable Grand Central services.
DTG have already said they won't do extensions. Grand Central won't feature in the game either as Arriva (who runs the service) won't give out their licence.
No they haven’t. DTG have said no plans. Which also means absolutely nothing. I don’t know if the route will get extended but I would take what they say with a grain of salt
Not necessarily. The amount of routes that we were told that there was no plans for and then like maybe half a year later we got is quite alot. Given the popularity with the ecml, dtg are almost gauranteed to do something with it weather it be an extension or just a separate section as a route. We'll just have to wait. But I seriously doubt dtg are going to give up on the ECML anytime soon.
Unfortunately though the odds of Grand Central showing up in Tsw are not good, reason being Crosscountry, another toc operated by Arriva currently will not agree to a licencing deal with any train simulator.
Thought you meant Doncaster to kings x like the post since it says that oh nvm my bad but altogether its 144 miles
Do people actually know if they have all these licences or just assuming from previous DLCs that the licences exist for more than one use? And on top of that. Arriva may own it, but it's also GC that have to say Yay or Nay. Arriva may say sure, but GC might want more money than physically worth it to hand it over.
Don't be so negative It can be possible if DTG puts in the effort. I think an extension from Petersborough to Kings Cross would be imperfect edition with different variety and traffic. Also we could have Thameslink and Great Northern playable and if DTG wants to extend it further I would say Leeds and York. So don't be negative just yet DTG could surprise us.....
If DTG could put in the effort anything is possible. For me personally: London - Leeds and York, Hull extension I would want. Playable rolling stock : Thameslink Great! Northern and Hull Train AI services: lumo and Grand Central.
Not being negative, just realistic. To extend the route, it would have to be rebuilt from scratch. Realistically, that isn't likely to happen.
No it wouldn’t lol. Dresden got extended without a rebuild. The main issue with extensions is timetable, and the question of if the pricing is worth the effort
Dresden wasn't actually extended, the branch was part of the original plan and modelling was already pretty far along when the decision was made to cut it, it was mainly due to community outcry plus two devs who now work for Tsg making it in their own time that it was reinstated. The branch was also still part of the routes core files when it was initially scraped but never removed, hence why it was as easy to added back when it was, an actual extension to a route that such as Doncaster - York would enjoy no such luxury.
Yeah the timetable. Literally that and actual route building for the section that needs to be extended as well as the cooking of the route. SEHS was in dire state and needed a rebuild
As we now have ECML in game, next London oriented main line needs to be part of the WCML or maybe GEML, not extending the new route. Peterborough to London other than the added suburban traffic is far more boring to drive than the section we did get, IMHO at least. What the ECML just arrived in game needs is a Legends pack with a Deltic, Paxman HST and Class 91/Mark 4 set.
It’s better in the long run, I understand it’s boring to some but if it gets added, it would be much much more interesting to drive as you would have more variety. Or if it goes up north it would be good too. Also WCML south is ridiculously hard to add southward because between London and rugby alone there’s over 30 stations
As Vern says above this section line is incredibly dull to driver as it is 75 miles of nothing on the intercity runs and just more electric commuter stuff. If we are talking extensions give me Lincoln, Leeds and York first but even before that we need to get the 800s and 225s in game.
Personally, I think if they do more ECML routes, they should be in different eras. This means the history of the ECML gets represented in the game. It'll get boring fast if every segment is modern when there are more interesting time periods to make. It also means people who like more historical content can get some mainline action too. Do the London end in the steam era with the original LNER, including King's Cross Top Shed with the A3s and A4s storming up and down with expresses. They've got Scotsman to use as a basis, the model just needs modifications to make it period accurate and then the A4 can be the new stock. Gresley tanks could be added as additional DLC for commuter, pilot and shunter services. Then you could have the Northern Newcastle/Edinburgh end set in BR Blue with the Deltics taking the centre stage, with a Valenta HST being the modified existing stock thrown in. I have the same view of the WCML when that comes to TSW. Different sections in different time periods, to cover all the bases
